Abstract: A high-pressure discharge lamp has an outer envelope (1) in which a discharge vessel (11) is arranged. The discharge vessel encloses a discharge space (13) with an ionizable filling. The discharge vessel has two mutually opposed neck-shaped portions (2,3) through which current supply conductors (4,5) extend to a pair of electrodes (6,7) in the discharge space. A lamp base (8) of electrically insulating material supports the discharge vessel. The lamp base also supports the outer envelope (1). The outer envelope encloses the current supply conductors and is connected to the lamp base in a gas-tight manner. By controlling the atmosphere in the outer envelope, a simplified and compact high-pressure discharge lamp is provided with an accurate positioning of the discharge vessel with respect to the optical axis of the lighting system. The high-pressure discharge lamp can be suitably applied in an assembly with a reflector.

Abstract: Methods of forming transparent conducting oxides and devices formed by these methods are shown. Monolayers that contain zinc and monolayers that contain magnesium are deposited onto a substrate and subsequently processed to form magnesium-doped zinc oxide. The resulting transparent conducing oxide includes properties such as an amorphous or nanocrystalline microstructure. Devices that include transparent conducing oxides formed with these methods have better step coverage over substrate topography and more robust film mechanical properties.

Abstract: A plasma display panel (PDP) and the method for manufacturing the same. A method for manufacturing a plasma display panel includes forming electrodes along one direction on a substrate, applying the dielectric paste along the other direction perpendicular to the one direction of the electrodes on the substrate, drying the dielectric paste and firing the dried dielectric paste to form a dielectric layer. Only one swath is needed for the entire dielectric layer, saving time and production costs, while providing a superior quality layer. Accordingly, since the dielectric paste is applied along the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the display electrodes, it is advantage that tack time and the number of cleaning the nozzle is reduced.

Abstract: A light-emitting element of the present invention, includes: a porous light-emitting body including an insulator having a void and an inorganic phosphor particle; and at least two electrodes provided so as to contact with a surface of the light-emitting body. A voltage is applied to the at least two electrodes so as to generate discharge, and the light-emitting body is pumped by the discharge so as to emit light. Thereby, a light-emitting element that is reduced in a deterioration of brightness and a degradation of reliability of phosphors and does not require the vacuum encapsulation and the application of a high voltage, which are required for glow discharge, and still-higher level of thin-film technology can be provided. By arranging these light-emitting elements two-dimensionally in a matrix form, a flat display device with a simple configuration can be provided at a low cost.
