  • Patent number: 8709677
Abstract: A proton conducting polymer electrolyte comprising a proton conducting ionomer cross-linked with an amount of a copolymer additive comprising cross-linking functional groups and other functional groups (e.g. proton carriers, chelating agents, radical scavengers) shows improved durability over the ionomer alone and provides for more stable inclusion of these other functional groups. The copolymer additive comprises at least two types of metal oxide monomers, one having cross-linking functional groups and the other having the other functional groups.

  • Patent number: 8710166
Abstract: The present discovery shows how to make a self-crosslinking SMP. Shape Memory Polymer (SMP) can be formulated as a castable coating. This process allows the polymer to dissolve in solvent, and as the solvent evaporates the polymers self-crosslink at room temperature in air, creating a copolymer coating wherein the copolymer coating is an SMP. This technology has coating applications where shape memory would be an asset: from shape memory textile and fabric to self-healing coatings for vehicles and morphing skins for aircraft.

  • Patent number: 8697828
Abstract: The present invention relates to a liquid hydrosilicone resin and a preparation process thereof. The average composition of the liquid hydrosilicone resin is represented by the following formula: (R1R2R3SiO1/2)M.(R4R5SiO2/2)D. (R6SiO3/2)T.(SiO4/2)Q wherein R1 to R6 are identical or different radicals independently selected from the group consisting of organic groups and a hydrogen atom, with the proviso that at least one of R1to R6 is a hydrogen atom bonded directly to a silicon atom. The liquid hydrosilicone resin is obtained by dispersing a hydrosilicone oil, a hydroxyl silicone resin and a dehydrogenation catalyst in a solvent to form a dispersion, allowing the dispersion to react, and then removing the solvent and the catalyst.
