Abstract: A method associates errors by causal relationship in software systems where multiple threads share access to hardware and/or software components. Where a software object, such as a lock, is provided, a thread can place an error ID into the object if encountered while the first thread controls the object. A second thread can retrieve the error ID and associate it as a parent error for any time-out error encountered while waiting for the software object. Errors can be reported and displayed in a causal graph for determining root causes. Errors can have a severity that can facilitate the display of errors to a user. Root cause errors can be assigned the severity of the most severe of its child errors to assist a user in determining a root cause. Errors can further be displayed or masked based on the severity assigned to the errors and/or their parent or child errors.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for collecting and processing line performance data transmitted over cables, e.g., Y-cables, is disclosed. The present invention applies a method based on specific performance measurements, specific measurement time intervals, and compare results from different measurement time intervals to produce a “signature” that indicates deteriorating performance of a particular Y-cable. Once a “signature” is detected, the method will proactively and automatically generate a trouble ticket to trigger the dispatch maintenance staffs to service the cable, e.g., to perform the replacement of the Y-cable in question, thus completing the predictive maintenance process. A trouble ticket is a record used to report and manage the resolution of network related problems.

Abstract: A debug card for diagnosing a motherboard and a power supply unit (PSU) of a same computer includes a plurality of first nixie tubes, a plurality of second nixie tubes, a first port, a second port, and a control unit. The control unit is electronically connected to the plurality of first nixie tubes, the plurality of second nixie tubes, the first port, and the second port. The first port is electronically connected to the motherboard, and the second port is electronically connected to the PSU. Under the control of the control unit, fault codes of the motherboard are displayed by the plurality of the first nixie tubes, and fault codes of the PSU are displayed by the plurality of the second nixie tubes.

Abstract: A method and system protects switching in a network element. At least one data signal at the client entity is received, wherein the signal flow through server entity via the client entity. A configuring protection group on at least one client entity is served by at least two server entity, wherein the protection group includes at least one work entity and at least one protect entity. A plurality of supplement client entities of client entity is created such that at least one of the supplement client entity flows over one server entity and checking the entities for a fault to raise alarm to their respective controllers. The controller includes at least one server layer protection controller and at least one client layer protection controller.

Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for propagating unhandled exceptions in distributed execution environments, such as clusters. A job (e.g., a query) can include a series of computation steps that are executed on multiple compute nodes each processing parts of a distributed data set. Unhandled exceptions can be caught while computations are running on data partitions of different compute nodes. Unhandled exception objects can be stored in a serialized format in a compute node's local storage (or an alternate central location) along with auxiliary details such as the data partition being processed at the time. Stored serialized exception objects for a job can be harvested and aggregated in a single container object. The single container object can be passed back to the client.

Abstract: A memory subsystem has multiple memory devices coupled to a command/address line and an error alert line, the error alert line delay-compensated to provide deterministic alert signal timing. The command/address line and the error alert line are connected between the memory devices and a memory controller that manages the memory devices. The command/address line is driven by the memory controller, and the error alert line is driven by the memory devices.

A content refresh response, responsive to a content refresh request that requests content being displayed on a user interface to be updated, is received by and stored in a buffer in a client computer. The content refresh response is then transmitted from the buffer to a content refresh handler, such that the content refresh handler prevents the content refresh response from being sent directly from the buffer to the content renderer without the content refresh response first being analyzed by the content refresh handler.

Abstract: This invention provides a method, computer program and system for updating a model of a system under test for use in model-based testing. In one embodiment, the system includes a rules engine, a comparator and a message dictionary. The rules engine runs an action against the system under test and runs the action against a model under test. The comparator compares an output from the system under test with a corresponding output from the model under test, wherein the output from the model under test is selected from one of a plurality of output message records. The dictionary engine updates the output message record by changing the message record if the output of the model under test is different from the output of the system under test. If the output message record is empty, the dictionary engine adds an output message record based on the system under test.

Abstract: In a system error detection method of a computing device, the computing device includes a graphics controller and a display screen. A frame of an image that is currently displayed on the display screen is obtained from a video memory of the graphics controller at regular intervals. The obtained image is compared with abnormal images of the display screen prestored in a storage system, to detect whether the computing device works abnormally. Characters of the obtained image are extracted when the computing device works abnormally. System errors of the computing device are detected by comparing the extracted characters with system error codes of the computing device that are stored in the storage system.
