Rotary To Or From Reciprocating Or Oscillating Patents (Class 74/25)
  • Patent number: 4137784
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an electromechanical actuator which acts as an analog of a fluid operated cylinder. A tubular piston moves along the axis of a fixed outer cylinder. One end of the piston is fitted with a threaded stud to which a clevis or other load attachment device can be attached. The other end of the piston, inside the outer cylinder, is attached to a coaxial drive nut. The drive nut is threaded onto a coaxial lead screw which passes through the drive nut and clears the inside of the piston. The drive nut is notched at a plurality of locations, the notches corresponding to a plurality of axially extending protrusions on the inside of the outer cylinder. Thus, when the lead screw is rotated, translational motion is imparted to the drive nut due to its inability to rotate relative to the outer cylinder. A small bar magnet is affixed to the drive nut and cooperates with an external reed switch to provide intermediate shutoff points.

  • Patent number: 4131776
Abstract: A motorized drive assembly for a circuit breaker operator comprising a follower mounted on a free wheeling double helix shaft which extends in the direction of movement of the operator between "TRIP," "RESET" and "ON" positions, the shaft being driven by an electric motor through a disengageable gearset controlled by a solenoid. The follower engages the operator, and upon rotation of the shaft the follower moves in one direction carrying the operator from a TRIP position to a RESET position. At this point, the follower has moved as far as one of the double helices will carry it in that direction, whereupon internally projecting lugs of the follower engage the other helix for movement in the opposite direction to carry the operator from the RESET to the ON position in which the breaker contacts are closed.

  • Patent number: 3946924
Abstract: A tube haul-off machine for extruded tubes comprising at least one pair of parallel spaced annular supporting wheels supported for rotation in opposite directions about a common axis. Each supporting wheel carries rotatable haul-off wheels which are arranged at a radial distance from the axis corresponding to the outer radius of the tube, and the axes of which are inclined relatively to the common axis. The haul-off wheels of one supporting wheel are inclined in the opposite direction of the haul-off wheels of the other supporting wheel. Upon rotation of the supporting wheels the haul-off wheels in engagement with the surface of the tube will travel along helices about said axis on the peripheral surface of the tube thereby to pull the tube along the axis.

  • Patent number: 3930415
Abstract: A motion converter device capable of converting continuous rotary input motion to cyclic linear motion and capable of accomplishing the reversal thereof from cyclic linear motion to continuous rotary motion including means for substantially smoothly obtaining the conversion. The unit includes a set of gear trains having gears of a selected shape and which gear trains are intermeshed from either a single rotary shaft or a plurality of linked output shafts which interwork to convert the rotary motion of the single shaft to oscillatory or linear motion of the output shafts or will, in the reverse of this procedure, convert a linear input to the plurality of shafts to rotary motion of the single shaft.
