Abstract: The present invention is for a means for transmission of force whereby linear movement is transferred into rotating movement or reverse. The invention is primarily intended to be used by combustion engines. The invention is for a means to transmit force between a forward and backward movement and a rotating movement by means of a ballbearing which runs in several tracks comprising a ball which is surrounded by ballholder which is fixed onto a piston rod for each respective ball or corresponding device for transmission of the linear movement. Fixed connected to each piston (4,5) is a piston rod (6,7) which in its opposite end has a holding device (17,18) for the ball (15,16) through which the force from the forward and backward movement is transmitted to the rotating disc (13). The balls (15,16) also serve as bearing between the stationary disc (8) and the rotating disc (13).

  • Patent number: 5992440
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel faucet with a non-circular slider assembly to which a resilient seat-washer is attached. In a preferable embodiment of the invention the slider assembly has a hexagonal cross-section. In embodiments of the invention the slider assembly is driven by a rotatory stem operated with a handle. The rotatory stem is provided with a helical groove mating with a faucet body of a complementary shape so that upon rotation of the stem the slider assembly is advanced towards or withdrawn from a sealing seat. • Patent number: 5717266
Abstract: An oscillatory drive incorporating the invention includes a driven rotor that is mounted on a shaft and includes plural driven permanent magnets disposed thereon. A spring arrangement is coupled to the driven rotor and limits both clock-wise (CW) and counter-clockwise (CCW) rotation thereof. A first driving rotor includes first driving magnets, is mounted for rotation on the shaft and is positioned to a first side of the driven rotor. A second driving rotor includes second driving permanent magnets, is mounted for rotation on the shaft and is positioned to a second side of the driven rotor. The drive mechanism imparts a CW rotation to the first driving rotor and a CCW rotation to the second driving rotor. The first driving permanent magnets coupling to the driven permanent magnets causes a CW rotation of the driven rotor until the spring arrangement terminates the CW rotation and causes a reversal of rotation direction in the CCW direction.

  • Patent number: 5301708
Abstract: A rotary plug valve actuator comprising a mounting bracket, a ball screw mechanism pivotably mounted to the mounting bracket and a lever pivotably mounted to the ball screw mechanism. The ball screw mechanism includes a ball screw shaft and a ball nut. The ball nut moves axially on the ball screw shaft when the ball screw shaft is rotated. The lever converts the axial movement of the ball nut to rotary motion. In that way, rotation of the ball screw shaft will in turn actuate the rotary plug valve. An associated rotary plug valve assembly and an associated method of actuating a rotary plug valve are also provided.

  • Patent number: 5299516
Abstract: A looper drive cam is formed of a cylindrical cam which is fixed to a main shaft so that its axis is inclined thereto at an angle of .theta.. A looper drive fork forming an U-shaped cam follower is attached to a looper drive shaft, and is engaged with the inclined cam. The fork is attached to the looper drive shaft with a degree of freedom which allows for deviation between axes of the main shaft and the looper drive shaft. As the main shaft rotates, a cam face of the inclined cam changes in a range of .+-..theta. in a plane containing the main shaft, so that the fork rotates to rotate the looper drive shaft. Owing to the freedom of degree of the fork thus attached, the motion is transmitted smoothly, and wear and rattling are prevented.

Abstract: A rolling joint is provided for obtaining slewing maneuvers for various apparatuses including space structures, space vehicles, robotic manipulators and simulators. Two noncircular cylinders, namely a drive and a driven cylinder, are provided in driving contact with one another. This contact is maintained by two pairs of generally S-shaped bands, each pair forming a generally 8-shaped coupling tightly about the circumferential periphery of the noncircular drive and driven cylinders. A stationarily fixed arm extends between and is rotatably journalled with a drive axle and a spindle axle respectively extending through selected rotational points of the drive cylinder and of the driven cylinder. The noncircular cylinders are profiled to obtain the desired varying gear ratio.

  • Patent number: 5133221
Abstract: Pendulum gears for windshield wipers of motor vehicles are known, which pendulum gears comprise a first gear member provided with teeth, which gear member is non-rotatably seated on a driven shaft, and a second gear member provided with teeth, which gear member meshes with the first gear member, and by which the first gear member can be driven in pendulum motion between two reversing positions. The noises occurring in the reversing positions of the first gear member are to be reduced. For this purpose the tooth play between the teeth of the two gear members is decreased towards the reversing position of the first gear member. Thus a beating noise caused by the teeth when changing the tooth flanks is avoided.

  • Patent number: 5093953
Abstract: A windshield wiper system which when operating will define a non-circular wiping pattern of a windshield wiper. The system includes a motor spindle and at least one windshield wiper arm interconnecting the motor spindle and the wiper arm for providing sliding movement in a radial direction. There includes a control component for controlling the sliding movements of the arm. The control component includes a drive spindle and arm mounted on the drive spindle which is adapted to be rotated. A coupling member interconnects a plurality of pivot members which are spaced eccentrically. An engaging member translates the wiper and wiper arm from an entirely semicircular path equidistant from the motor spindle to a non-circular path with respect to the motor spindle in at least two portions of the wiping pattern.

  • Patent number: 5092186
Abstract: A motion converter for small appliances driven by electric motors, such as electric toothbrushes, electric razors or the like, comprising a motor, tool bit and tool bit carrier, which is driven by the rotary motion of the motor and imparts a preferably orbital motion to the tool bit. The latter is accomplished by a novel mechanism for converting the rotary motion of the motor shaft into a generally transverse reciprocating motion. The mechanism employs a follower having a guide slot with parallel side faces and conically extending, radial outer contoured surfaces. The follower comprises a bore for the motor shaft or for a cam on the motor shaft and is slidingly mounted thereon.
