Abstract: An actuator, which can be actuated along a longitudinal axis, in particular for a spring carrier, includes a stationary part, a first rotor, which can be driven so as to perform a rotary motion, a rotatable second rotor, which is supported against the stationary part in the axial direction in an axial rest position, a coupling device, by which the second rotor is coupled to the first rotor, and an output element, which is connected to the second rotor and can be moved axially by means of a rotary motion of the second rotor. The coupling device interacts with the first rotor and the second rotor in such a way that, starting from the rest position, an axial movement of the second rotor can be produced by means of a first rotary motion of the first rotor in order to release the second rotor from the stationary part and thereby bring it into a working position.

The third point of contact is a spherical bearing at the base of the panel. The actuators are independently adjustable in length by using electric motors according to a microprocessor program. In this way, 2 rotary axes of motion with limited angles are achieved which can orient the panel to the sun with minimal hardware. Since only one solar panel is being controlled the mechanical force required is minimized.

Abstract: The device for controlling fluid flow from a rain retention chamber or the like includes an inlet communicating with the chamber, an outlet permitting fluid to flow out of the device, and a shutter disposed between the inlet and the outlet, and supported in the device for linear shifting between a raised position and lowered position. A control element is rotatably mounted in a device for rotation about a central axis and includes a curved controller surface which is non-concentric with the central axis of the central element, such that rotation of the control element varies the radial distance between the central axis and the controller surface. A coupler member operably connects the shutter with the controller surface, such that rotation of the control element shifts the shutter between the raised and lowered positions to achieve a predetermined flow rate of fluid from the chamber.

Abstract: A mechanism transforms a longitudinal reciprocation movement of a piston in a cylinder into a combined unidirectional rotation and reciprocating movement of the piston. In order to achieve this transformation the piston includes a closed wave shaped groove on its circumference. The closed wave shaped groove has recesses at its apexes. The recesses break the symmetry of the groove. Balls that are located in the cylinder protrude into the groove. When the piston is reciprocating, the groove slides on the balls. A flexible heat shrink ring secures the balls in place and assures that the balls are constantly biased toward the face of the groove.
