    Abstract: The present invention relates to a flat plate heat pipe and a method for manufacturing the same. The heat pipe includes a flattened pipe whose inner surface is coated with a wick structure layer. The interior of the flattened pipe is provided with a sintered supporting layer and a working fluid. The sintered supporting layer has a plurality of posts arranged in the flattened pipe to vertically support therein. With this arrangement, the thickness of the pipe can be reduced but the whole structural strength can be maintained to prevent deformation. Further, a return path for the working fluid can be provided in the pipe. By only sealing two sides of the pipe, a sealed chamber can be formed for the operation of the working fluid. By the inventive method, the manufacturing process can be simplified and a larger space inside the chamber can be obtained.

    Abstract: A device having a heat exchanger includes a housing having an inlet and an outlet for a fluid and an inner tube having a first end face extending in axial direction, an opposite second end face and a circumferential surface having openings. A plurality of heat exchanger tubes is disposed parallel to the axial direction on the outside of the circumferential surface. The housing encloses the heat exchanger tubes and the inner tube and the inlet is fluidically connected to the first end face. Guide elements are disposed between the heat exchanger tubes so that the fluid entering the inner tube through the first end face flows out across the heat exchanger tubes in radial direction starting from the inner tube. The device is used particularly for constructing a thermoelectric generator for positioning in the underbody of a motor vehicle. A motor vehicle having the device is also provided.

    Abstract: An apparatus using a phase-change material for thermal management in portable applications is described. In one aspect, the apparatus includes a phase-change material, a thermal reservoir, and a heat transport element. The thermal reservoir has a cavity therein to contain the phase-change material in the cavity. The heat transport element is made of a thermally conductive material. A first portion of the heat transport element traverses through the thermal reservoir and in contact with the phase-change material. A second portion of the heat transport element extends outside the thermal reservoir. Accordingly, at least part of the thermal energy from an object in contact with the heat transport element can be transported to the phase-change material via the heat transport element and be absorbed by the phase-change material as latent heat. The phase-change material may release at least part of the absorbed thermal energy at a later time.

The condensed moisture emerges into the environment through the second outlet opening.
