Publication number: 20140009882Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for conveying heat away from an electronic component. In one embodiment, a method positions a conformable thermal interface element in heat conducting contact with an electronic component. A heat conducting member is disposed within the conformable thermal interface element. The heat conducting member is coupled with a manifold so that the heat conducting member is in heat conducting contact with the manifold. The electronic component may be installed or removed without disassembly of the apparatus.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 6, 2012Publication date: January 9, 2014Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Aaron R. Patent number: 8622116Abstract: A heat absorbing or dissipating device having a multi-pipe arrangement for flowing of thermal conductive fluids having a temperature difference. The thermal conductive fluids are reversely transported by a first fluid piping and second fluid piping in parallel or substantially parallel arrangements on a same end side of the heat dissipation or absorption receiving article or space. This configuration is configured to allow the heat transference, i.e., heat absorption or heat dissipation, between the thermal conductive fluid and the heat absorbing or dissipating device.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 2009Date of Patent: January 7, 2014Inventor: Tai-Her Yang

Publication number: 20140000846Abstract: Provided are a method and system for rapidly cooling a lithium secondary battery. A conductive connector is connected to at least one of positive and negative electrode terminals of a lithium secondary battery, and the conductive connector is brought into contact with a coolant to cool battery cells. The coolant may be water or air and may flow a coolant tube formed of a synthetic resin. An end of the coolant tube is fixed to at least one of the positive and negative electrode terminals. Therefore, owing to a cooling means disposed at a side of the lithium secondary battery, the temperature of the lithium secondary battery can be prevented from increasing to a preset value due to abnormal heating, and thermal stability of the lithium secondary battery can be improved by rapid cooling.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2013Publication date: January 2, 2014Applicant: LG CHEM, LTD.Inventors: Bo Hyun KIM, Jong Hyun CHAE, Dae il KIM, Joong Min LEE, Han Ho LEE
