Abstract: A multipurpose miniature hand tool includes two casings defining an outer housing. A roll of measuring tape, two scissor blades, and an elongated snap-off blade are extendably and retractably mounted within the outer housing. Each of the scissor blades are restricted to be movable only along one of the casings. A cap bolt extends through a lengthwise extending slide slot of each of the casings and through a pivot hole of each of the scissor blades and engages threadably with a nut for fastening tightly the casings and the scissor blades thereon. When the nut is somewhat loosed from the bolt, the nut and the bolt can slide along the slide slots of the casings together with the scissor blades, thereby permitting the scissor blades to extend partially out of the outer housing. At that time, the casings from the movable handles of a pair of scissors.

Abstract: A device for handling packaging containers having a parallelepiped shape, made of cardboard or a similar material, which have a folded closure on a frontal surface, outer corners of which, projecting beyond sides of the frontal surface, form a folded triangle, the base of which corresponds to one edge of the frontal surface and the tip of which is attached to a lateral surface of the parallelepiped. A guide slit holds part of the closure fold and a cutting blade overlaps the guide slit. A frame surrounds the parallelepiped at least partially on four lateral surfaces and has a handle aligned approximately vertically to the plane of the frame on one frame section and a catch to engage under one of the folded triangles folded down against the lateral surface of the parallelepiped. The frame also has the guide slit with the knife in another frame section.

Abstract: A brush is attachable to the top edge of a chain saw blade and is used to remove saw dust and clogged debris from a chain saw cut. Two brackets attached to the blade and the motor cover support an expandible bar that carries the bristles. An agitator is attached to the bristle carrying bar and includes a pair of rollers adapted to contact the moving chain. The brush is employed to clean the chain saw cut in order to keep the saw from binding or becoming gummed up with saw dust. The agitator may be selectively employed depending upon the difficulty of the cleaning task.

Abstract: A rescue axe is used for forcibly entering a vehicle. The axe comprises a head portion located at one end of a handle portion. The head portion includes a piercing entry section, a cutting section, and an impacting section. The entry section includes a metal piercing member on one side of the head portion. The impacting section includes a striking edge on a side opposite the metal piercing member. The cutting section includes a blade cutting edge extending rearwardly from an open mouth located on a side of the head portion between the one side including the piercing member and the opposite side including the striking edge. The head portion includes a blade member located between the blade cutting edge and the striking edge. The handle portion extends rearwardly from a further side of the head portion opposite the open mouth side of the head portion.

Abstract: The hair-cutting appliance comprises a blade held interchangeably in a two-piece housing and located between a stationary row of teeth at the edge of the lower part of the housing and a row of teeth adapted to be moved back and forth in relation to the blade. A retaining arm, with a razor-blade head secured interchangeably thereto, is mounted pivotably at the edge of the housing remote from the blade and the razor-blade head is adapted to pivot outwardly from a nonoperative position within the housing, through an aperture in the lower part thereof, into an operative position. When the razor-blade head is in use, the housing of the hair-cutting appliance serves as a handle. The hair-cutting appliance therefore performs a dual function, since it may be used not only for cutting hair, but also for shaving.

Abstract: In a first embodiment, a pair of cylindrical rods are held in closely spaced parallel relationship by support members mounted in the ends of the rods. The rods have confronting surfaces throughout their length. Pairs of overlapping cutting blades are mounted in the rods and between the confronting surfaces. A container is opened by being inserted between the confronting surfaces and drawn against the blades. When opened, the end of the container opposite the opening is then inserted between the rods and drawn between the confronting surfaces to empty the contents by pressing the opposite sides of the container together. In a second embodiment a flanged slot formed in a flat holder provides the confronting surfaces for emptying the container. Cutting blades mounted in the handle in way of the slot are used to cut the container open.

Abstract: A kitchen utensil for facilitating the removal of the contents from boil-in-the-foil type food pouches (retort pouches). Such retort pouches are usually made from a laminate of three materials, i.e. polyester, which forms the outer layer, aluminum foil, which forms a barrier in the middle, and an inner layer of polypropylene to retain the food taste. The utensil has an elongated handle and a pair of elongated prongs extending in parallel from the handle at one end. The length of the prongs is at least as great as the width of the pouch. The prongs define a gap between them dimensioned to snugly receive two layers of the pouch material. The pouch can thus be inserted into the gap and the prongs moved over the pouch to cause the contents to be squeezed towards one end of the pouch. The utensil preferably also has a pouch opening device located at the free end of one of the prongs.

Abstract: An electric can opener comprises a can opener body, a can opening attachment and a juice squeezing attachment. The can opener body is provided with a drive shaft, a motor for rotating said drive shaft, a vertically holding portion and a horizontally holding portion. When the vertically holding portion is utilized to set the can opener body, the drive shaft assumes a horizontal condition. A horizontal rotating shaft provided on the can opening attachment can be brought into engagement with the drive shaft in the horizontal condition. Accordingly, the can opening attachment is utilized to cut out a lid of a can. On the other hand, when the horizontal holding portion is utilized to set the can opener body, the drive shaft assumes a vertical condition. A vertical rotating shaft provided on the juice squeezing attachment can be brought into engagement with the drive shaft in the vertical condition. Accordingly, the juice squeezing attachment can be utilized to squeeze fruit juice of citrus fruits.

Abstract: An attachment is provided for selectively operating one of a variety of tools for removable attachment to the arm of a backhoe machine from which the bucket has been removed. One of the tools may have a first portion movable with respect to a second portion. Each of the tools are mounted to a rigid bar, any one of which is alternatively insertable into one end of a frame fittable on the backhoe arm. The backhoe includes a hydraulic cylinder disposed along the arm for pivoting the bucket when attached, and the attachment is provided with a sliding member connectable with the end of the cylinder for movement thereby along the attachment frame. A guide member directs the sliding member along the length of the frame. A lever is pivotally attachable at one end to a movable portion of the movable tool, and is pivotally attachable at an opposite end to the sliding member when the tool is secured in place along the frame.

Abstract: A body has a recess in one surface and within which is disposed a non-circular cutting element retained therein by an epoxy. The non-circular cutting element has its cutting edge formed by beveling its inner surface. The non-circular cutting element extends sufficiently beyond the one surface of the body to be able to penetrate into a face plate, which is utilized with a stoma and in which the non-circular opening is to be cut for use with the stoma of the same shape. A circular template of a clear plastic is removably mounted on the one surface of the body and has a plurality of circles of varying diameters thereon to center the non-circular cutting element relative to a face plate adhesive blank of one of the varying diameters to enable cutting of the same non-circular opening in the adhesive blank. The template has a pair of parallel lines along its circumference to align with a tab on the adhesive blank.

Abstract: A generally portable sheet material cutting tool comprising apparatus having a substantially stationary sleeve member with a free end and a cutting tool reciprocable within the sleeve member, the cutting tool having both a transverse cutting edge formed along its length cooperable with the free end of the sleeve member and an initial hole forming means extending beyond the free end of the sleeve member. The reciprocation of the cutting tool is effected by cam means acting in response to rotary motion supplied by a hand held drill unit or by a rotary drive motor, the cam means being capable of being disengaged by axial pressure applied to the initial hole forming means. In one form of the apparatus the transverse cutting edge is given both a reciprocating and a rotating component of motion, and in a modified form of the apparatus the transverse cutting edge is restrained for reciprocating movement only.

Said edge producing a cut in the upper edge of the can casing when being placed on the can. Said cut facilitating the initial tearing-off of the upper portion of the can casing. The cut produced has a depth preferably equal to the distance between peripheral, parallel score lines provided in the box casing for tearing purposes.

Abstract: A fork accessory for winding spaghetti on a fork comprising a generally rectangular base having a thickened portion at one edge defining a cylindrical recess and including clamping means to detachably secure said base to a dish on which the spaghetti is served. A collar is fitted with inwardly projecting pins which is rotatably supported in the well of said recess. A short shaft passes through the base and connects the bottom of the collar to a hand wheel below the collar and well. A fork, which is filled with spaghetti, is inserted into the collar, the hand wheel rotated, and the pins rotate the fork. A guiding wall vertically projecting from a center edge of the collar serves to neatly wrap the spaghetti around the fork which now needs only to be lifted to the mouth for eating.

Abstract: This invention is directed to a window shade cutter for manually trimming the end of a rolled shade to conform to the size of the window opening into which the shade is to be mounted. The cutter includes a cylindrical clamping sleeve, having an annular guide groove at one end thereof, adapted to slip over the shade and clamp in place and a cutoff tool receivable in the guide groove including a generally planar U-shaped holder and a planar blade mounted on the holder. In a preferred form, the blade has a rounded, dull end with a central V-shaped notch therein in which a pair of cutting edges are located. The cutoff tool is adapted to interlock in the guide groove and to rotate about the shade with cutting of the shade taking place in the V-shaped notch a few layers at a time as the tool is urged towards the shade and rotated. In accordance with the invention disclosed, window shades can be safely and easily trimmed by the consumer in the home thus eliminating the need for cutting machines.

Abstract: A cutter construction for a vegetable peeler that has a cylindrically electrically rotatable body with a longitudinal mounting shaft and a plurality of longitudinally extending slots coextensive with and equally spaced around the body and a cutter blade disposed lengthwise from the body outer end to the inner end in each slot. In this general arrangement an improved slot and blade configuration is provided wherein each blade is disposed in its own slot with its entire cutting edge angled or slanted in the direction of rotation and with a high point in an operable permissible range above the body periphery a maximum of 0.030 inches (0.75 mm) and a minimum of 0.008 inches (0.20 mm). A clearance recess is provided below and coextensive with each blade and extending substantially at right angles to the blades in the direction of rotation. It has a peripheral width from substantially 0 inches to 0.180 inches (4.5 mm).

Abstract: An apparatus and method for cutting rolled window shades, and the rollers on which they are mounted, includes a shade holder having a generally cylindrical tubular handle with a longitudinal central opening and a disc-like, annular cutting guide extending transversely outward from the end of the handle. In one form of the apparatus, the handle and guide are longitudinally split into two pieces and hinged at one side of the guide so the shade holder can swing open to receive a shade. In another form, the handle and guide are slotted longitudinally so as to be diametrically variable. A generally annular blade holder has a circumferential guide groove opening inwardly towards the center of the blade holder for engaging the outwardly-extending cutting guide on the shade holder. The blade holder supports a blade having a cutting edge positioned normal to the longitudinal axis of the shade holder and adjacent the end of the shade holder.

Abstract: This disclosure pertains to a handle, housing a battery and a switch and is adapted with a removable blade securing bar extending transverse to the longitudinal axis of the handle. A plurality of blades are removably engaged within a series of spaced apart notches in the bars. A lamp is secured to the handle providing a convenient work light covering the area that includes a series of blades extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the handle when the blades are secured within the notches. Each blade is adapted with at least one cutting edge and may be secured to the bar with the cutting edge extending in a preferred location, thus enabling the user to select either of two types of cutting edges or to position a variety of cutting edges of the adjacent blades in a cutting work plane and to position the blades selectively in the notches, providing thereby a variety of cutting widths.

Abstract: A percussion tool having a shank and a pair of generally planar wing portions extending therefrom is provided with a pair of blades which extend from edges of the wing portion. Each wing portion and the corresponding blades are provided with a cutting edge which is L-shaped such that one cutting blade can readily underlie the edge of a windshield during removal. The shank portion is provided with a collar which defines a bit to connect the tool with a pneumatically operated tool holder. The tool includes a nose portion which may be used to break a small slot in the edge of the windshield to receive one wing and blade. The tool is then driven around the circumference of the windshield to sever the adhesive material bonding the windshield to the vehicle and thereby loosen the windshield for easy removal.

Abstract: A meat trimmer and scraper embodied in a single, safe, easily used tool with the scraper extending at an angle from one end of the handle and a trimmer blade extending from the same end adjacent the scraper whereby in one orientation of the handle meat can be scraped while in another orientation the meat can be trimmed.

Abstract: An inexpensive suture cutter is shown in which the cutting portion is a sharpened edge of a wire-like member one-eighth inch or less in diameter at the cutting portion. This wire-like cutting portion has a blunt end to prevent accidental penetration of the skin as the knife portion of the cutter is slid under the sutures which are then cut as the cutting edge is slid along and underneath the sutures. Prior to cutting a length of adhesive tape is placed on and secured to the sutures to be cut and removed. The edge of the tape is placed adjacent or over the proposed cutting path. The sutures are removed by and when the tape is lifted from the skin after the sutures have been severed by the cutter.

Abstract: A cloth cutting machine having an improved lubrication system therein including a motor mounted on the machine housing for driving a crosshead supported in a crosshead guide through link means, and a lubricant reservoir positioned above the crosshead and having a plurality of wicks emanating therefrom for conducting lubricant to areas of contact between the crosshead and the crosshead guide and between the crosshead and the linkage which drives it.
