Abstract: The illuminated safety razor has a substantially transparent handle and a razor head adapted to hold a razor blade cartridge. A high-intensity LED disposed in the razor head illuminates the area to be shaved. The LED may be molded within the razor head in various orientations dependent upon the contour of the razor head and the desired lighting effect. The handle open at the rear end, is adapted to receive at least one battery. A threaded end cap engages the opening, abutting the battery and contains a micro-pushbutton switch. Depressing a waterproof diaphragm covering the rear of the end cap toggles the switch, supplying a voltage to the LED, thereby illuminating the razor and the area to be shaved.

Abstract: A utility tool comprising a body having a first end and a second end positioned on opposite ends of the body; a removable blade cartridge positioned within the body, wherein a knife blade within the removable blade cartridge is configured to slidably extend out from the first end; as well as a first tool and a second tool configured to be selectively coupled to each other or one of either the first end and second end of the body. A blade/blade carrier and compression wheel with gear like teeth is supported between the handle halves. An optional releasable locking mechanism in the handle allows the blade to be retracted into the tool. Pulling the tool along the surface of insulation material while applying downward pressure to the compression wheel and blade allows the rotating wheel to grip and compresses the material allowing the blade to make a straight cut without tearing.

Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a multi-use broad bladed knife is provided. The multi-use knife includes a broad blade, such as commonly used to apply spackle to a wall or other surface. The broad blade is attached to a handle, with a striking surface comprised of an appropriate hard material on the heel of the handle. Within the handle are slidably extendable and retractable implements, including a cutting edge and a screwdriver implement. The cutting edge and screwdriver implement may be extended through the heel of the handle through slits using buttons. The screwdriver implement and cutting edge may lock into place when extended for use and may also lock in place when retracted within the handle.

Abstract: A survival device for use in an emergency situation includes a battery, a lamp, and a detection circuit for detecting an occurrence of the emergency situation and for switching the lamp to be powered by the battery when such an occurrence is detected. In one form, the detection circuit detects a presence of water along a surface of the device, with safety tools for escaping from an submerged vehicle being provided. In another form, the detection circuit detects a failure of electrical service within a building, with safety tools for escaping a fire being provided.

Abstract: A rotary knife having a ring blade that defines a closed loop cutting surface for cutting material which the ring blade contacts during rotation. Materials cut using the blade such as meat cut from a carcass or trimmed from a piece of meat are suctioned away from the blade. The material is drawn into a blade housing which supports the ring blade. A housing body has a wall that defines a housing interior into which material separated by the cutting surface of the ring blade moves as it is cut. Alternate blade designs facilitate use of the knife for applications involving the separation of a spinal cord and possibly dangerous BSE material from a slaughtered animal.

Abstract: An apparatus for associating a size of an attachment comb for a hair cutting device with a color on or of the attachment comb representing that particular size. The apparatus includes a chart having a plurality of symbols that pictorially represents both the attachment comb sizes of a plurality of attachment combs, and the colors related to the respective attachment comb sizes. The symbols have a magnitude along one direction that is greater or smaller than other symbols on the chart depending on their respective attachment comb sizes, to produce a visual association between a cutting device size and a cutting device color.

Abstract: A folding knife light tool with an ergonometric handle in which an illuminating means whether an LED or light bulb or a laser light is incorporated into the handle housing in the spaces existing between the blade, the locking mechanism, and the handle. A knife handle is provided having a body contoured for the hand. The housing is made from one molded piece with a slit in the middle. The handle includes a pivot point for supporting a blade between the longitudinal sides or scales of the blades. A conventional locking or non-locking system is utilized for keeping the blade open once it is unfolded. When the blade is folded, a portion of the blade extends above the sides of the knife handle for digital engagement in the opening operation.

The handle houses an implement locking mechanism, a three-speed D.C. motor and a rechargeable battery for powering the motor. The stand includes a compartment for receiving a battery charger and a retractable reel of electric cord. Cavities are formed in the stand for receiving the coring tool handle and various coring implements to be used with the coring tool.

A cutoff blade is adjustably mounted on the rear shield to move between two different radially inward and outward positions. In the radially outward position, the cutoff blade cuts off the filament at a length in which the filament extends beyond the front guard prior to the filament becoming shortened due to breakage or wear. In the radially inward position, the cutoff blade cuts off the filament at a length in which the filament extends short of the front guard prior to the filament becoming shortened due to breakage or wear.

The laser alignment system comprises a housing, a laser generator, an internal battery which can be replaced without the aid of a tool, a switch which can be independently positioned within the housing and be turned on or off independently or a switch which can be positioned near the main switch of the circular saw and be actuated together with the main switch. The laser line projected by the laser alignment aligns with the plane of a saw blade of the circular saw. Thus, the saw blade can follow the target line by aligning the laser line with the target line.

Abstract: A combined saw blade and measuring device, or ruler. The saw blade includes a measuring device, or ruler, manufactured as an integrated component of the blade. In this case the ruler is marked, or etched, on the saw blade such that the blade acts as a ruler and straight edge. The ruler is marked on the horizontal edge opposite the saw teeth and runs the length of the saw blade. In this manner there is no need for adjunct attachments to the blade that act as measuring device or the use of a separate measuring device, or ruler, for the purpose of measuring the length of material to be cut. This design eliminates the need for a separate measuring device and therefore simplifies the process of measuring and cutting lengths of material.

In the use of the preferred embodiment of utensil, the utensil is put within the reach of the person to use it, and caused to vibrate continuously, so that when the person touches the handle and feels the vibration he is stimulated to grasp the handle and guide the spoon or fork to his mouth. Alternatively, the handle of the utensil can be placed within the grasp of the person, who can then grasp the handle securely and guide the spoon or fork to his mouth.

Abstract: A clipper and herbicide or other chemical dispenser comprises a pair of pivotal handle members that are squeezed together to operate a shear mechanism and a chemical dispenser that dispenses chemical directly on the end of the cut stem after the stem has been cut. Preferably, a clamping mechanism clamps a plant stem in place below the shears while the shears cut the stem. The chemical dispenser includes a liquid pump actuated by the handles that pumps a discreet amount of chemical through an opening in a cutting blade at a time when the opening is aligned with the cut end of the plant stem. The dispenser has an outlet mounted on a dispenser arm that is moved away from the opening in the cutting blade by the upper plant stem as the stem is being cut. When the upper stem falls away, the dispenser arm pivots back to align the outlet with the opening in the cutting blade for chemical dispensation on the lower cut stem.

Abstract: A hand tool which provides an alarm signal to a user as the tool approaches a live electrical wire is disclosed. The hand tool comprises a conductive tool head and a non-conductive handle. A non-contact voltage sensing circuit is provided in the handle of the tool. As the tool head approaches a live electrical wire, the non-contact voltage sensing circuit detects the voltage across the air gap between the tool head and the electrical wire, triggering an alarm circuit. The alarm circuit provides a visual or audio signal to the user.

Abstract: A cutting board and leveraged knife apparatus is provided which facilitates cutting of a variety of objects, from large items such as turnips to the rapid, repetitive chopping of smaller items such as carrots or celery. The apparatus includes a cutting board having a vertically oriented support member extending therefrom, the support member having a plurality of fulcrums positioned at convenient, discrete vertical intervals proceeding upwardly from the cutting board. The apparatus includes a knife, preferably one of the variety known as a “chef's knife”, having in its blade thereof, in the upper edge proximate its tip, means for removably engaging a convenient one of the fulcrums. When an item to be cut is placed on the cutting board adjacent the support member, and the knife engages with a convenient fulcrum, cutting of the item is enhanced and facilitated through the lever action of the knife and fulcrum.

Abstract: The present invention is a heated cutting tool for cutting materials with a relatively low melting temperature such as waxes, bars of soap, and foam materials. The present invention comprises of a thin metallic blade that is rigidly attached to a handle. The thin metallic blade contains a heating element within it. A mean of applying and controlling the electric current to the heating element is contained within the handle. The electricity may be supplied by conventional 110V alternating current source or from a suitable direct current source. When electricity is applied to the heating element within the thin metallic blade, the entire blade will heat up to a temperature sufficient to melt the material being cut, such as wax, a bar of soap, or foam material.

Abstract: A hand-held measuring and cutting device for pliable tubing, man-made or natural cordage, roping, etcetera. The device comprises a plurality of demountably conjointed and diametrically opposing rigid substrates that house or provide surfaces for insertion therein or attachment thereto, a plurality of elements including a conventional type linear measuring counter for measuring pliable material prior to being cut. A blade and blade plunger, handle, compressor member, and feed hole being so disposed, attached or inserted therein or thereto, provide for single-hand operation of the measuring and cutting operation of the device. The device safely shrouds the cutting blade, and provides for quick and easy disassembly of the unit to change the blade or to access other internal mechanisms. Easy access to the complete interior including the waste ejection port, blade recess and all moving parts makes maintenance simple.

Abstract: This invention provides cutter/lighter combination devices wherein the cutter is equipped with a blade attached to a holder that moves on a track. The end of the blade holder distal from the blade edge protrudes from a notch in the side of the case. When the protruding portion of the blade carrier is pushed forward in the direction of the case, the blade moves forward across the aperture to cut any object which has been inserted into the aperture. The blade edge may be any shape, so long as the cutting edge is not present in the aperture in the absence of pressure on the blade carrier to force the blade edge to move the blade across the aperture.

Abstract: An adjustable safety utility knife includes a elongated ergonomically shaped handle formed of two elongate shell members each having a peripheral edge and an outer, generally convex surface and an inner generally concave surface. A fastener secures the shell members together at their peripheral edges along a parting plane to form an elongated internal cavity. In the nail clipper, a folding plate (34) is rotatably mounted to the rear joint of the clipper's body such that it is rotatable between its folded position and its exposed position. A light emitting device (31), used for illuminating a target place while clipping the nails, is set at the tip of the extension (39). The nail clipper also has a melody chip (42) for producing a melody, in addition to having a battery (40). In another embodiment, the light emitting device (31), melody chip (42) and battery (40) are held on a casing (50) covering the rear portion of the clipper's body.

The cleaner attachment cleans the pipe when attached to the tubing cutter when it is rotated about the tubing by the abrasive pad member.
