Abstract: In a business application, contexts can be switched based on a selected customer. A first authorization profile can be associated with the business application. The authorization profile can restrict a user's ability to access, enter new or update existing information. In response to selection of a first element, such as a customer, the authorization profile can be switched to a second, different authorization profile with different read and/or write privileges. Context switching can also be used which includes additional features beyond the authorization profile. For example, personalization parameters that affect look and feel can be swapped. Additionally, available actions or pages accessible in the application can be swapped.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for application independent content control are described herein. It may be determined that a content filter is enabled for a computing device. The content filter may include a restricted term. A content container may be identified in a device buffer of the computing device. The content container may also include the restricted term. A portion of the content container corresponding to the restricted term may be modified in the device buffer to block the restricted term.

Abstract: Disclosed is an improved approach for performing lock management. A semi-distributed Lock Management (SDLM) system is provided utilizing RDMA and an acyclic time-dependent dependency graph that can lead to higher system performance while maintaining higher flexibility and autonomy for each process at each compute node in the given cluster, in particular for distributed database applications.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments provide various techniques for detecting and correcting corrupted or dangling data object handles. In one example, a method is provided for correcting corrupted data object handles. In this method, a redirector file stored on a first logical data container is accessed. This redirector file includes a forward object handle pointing to a first data object stored on a second logical data container and includes a first checksum of the forward object handle. A second checksum of the forward object handle is determined and a comparison is made between the first and second checksums. If a mismatch is detected, the data objects stored on the second logical data container are scanned to extract backward object handles. A backward object handle can be identified to point back to the redirector file. The forward object handle can then be restored to point to the second data object based on the identification.

Abstract: A processor-implemented method, system, and/or computer program product navigates through a database. A non-contextual data object, which ambiguously relates to multiple subject-matters, is associated with a context object to define a synthetic context-based object. The context object provides a context that identifies a specific subject-matter, from the multiple subject-matters, of the non-contextual data object. The synthetic context-based object is associated with a first data node and a second data node within a database. In response to receiving a request for identifying and retrieving data from a data node that has a same context as the first data node, data from the second data node is retrieved.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for use in establishing secure end-to-end communication links over a VPN gateway via a network interface unit. Illustrative embodiments include establishing and providing secure communication relationships between users (customers) and companies for e-commerce and other business purposes. Each company's data and linkage to users remaining private and secure from the other participating companies as well as from the general public over the Internet. Login by user with network interface units, addressing, authentication, and other configuration operations achieved using a web page-based GUI are applied in establishing tunnels from LAN clients to desired VPN destinations. Required authentication exchanges and required encryption key exchanges facilitate the secure communications. Financial arrangements regarding the provisioning and use of network interface units are also disclosed.

Abstract: The present techniques prioritize transmission of feature information associated with data copies in data transmission, and selectively transmit the data copies when necessary. As the size of the feature information is small compared with the data copies, and as feature information is transmitted using prioritized messages, delays caused by congestion in the network are reduced. Based on the use of prioritized messages, the present techniques provide solutions for replicating data across data centers when conducting various data operations including reading, writing, and modifying data. The present techniques also replicate data across data centers while providing consistency, access locality, and disaster tolerance.

Abstract: A method and system for leveraging content is provided. The method includes receiving, data associated with a subscriber and registering the subscriber with an ECM computing system. Devices belonging to the subscriber are connected to the ECM computing system and metadata associated with content retrieved from the devices is generated. The content in the devices are classified into formal content and informal content. Multiple searches for additional content are monitored and multifaceted search results associated with the formal content and the informal content are generated and presented to the subscriber. The subscriber has an option to request informal content on additional end user devices from respective end users based on metadata presented by search results.

Abstract: Technologies are described herein for filtering data in a result set using inexact and/or culture dependent terms. A user provides one or more filter terms for filtering a result set being viewed. One or more data type interpretations are determined for each filter term based on the value of the term. The data type interpretations may further be based on a locale associated with the user. For each filter term, the columns of the result set to which the filter term is to be applied is selected based on the data type interpretations determined for the filter term and the data types of the columns. The filter terms are then applied to the selected columns of the result set, thus causing the rows of the result set as displayed to the user to be limited to rows wherein at least one column value satisfies a filter term.

Abstract: In one example embodiment, a system and method is shown that includes identifying a host setting related to a property of a document data structure and a property of a fragment data structure, the document data structure reflecting an organization of a document, and the fragment data structure reflecting an organization of a portion of the document. Additionally, the system and method may include overriding the property of the fragment data structure using the property of the document data structure, if the host setting includes a command that the property of the fragment data structure is to be overridden by the property of the document data structure.

Abstract: Database content provisioning includes a broad base shipment as an initial release of database content. The database content may then be incrementally enriched with specific enhancements, which may be delivered as updates. Shipping variants for delivering upgrades include delta installations, and in some embodiments, may include full installations. Changes to an existing database object in activated database content may be treated as a new database object, and may include a reference to the existing database object. The user is notified of the new database object, but the new database object is otherwise not activated, thus ensuring stability of the activated database content.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include systems and methods for providing block-level verification of replicated file systems. Embodiments operate in context of data storage environments, which may typically have multiple file systems, snapshots of file systems, and replicas of file systems. In one illustrative scenario, a replica is created of a file system having multiple associated snapshots, and a user desires to verify the accuracy of the replica. A signature is created for each of the source active file system and the target replica file system, so that each signature includes records of both block-level signatures and block-level allocations. The signatures are compared to discover any differences. The differences may then be reconciled, where possible, to determine whether the differences indicate a corrupt or otherwise invalid replica.

Abstract: A resilient hashing system leverages a fast, non-cryptographic hash/checksum function that has good diffusion properties while remaining reasonably efficient on modern central processing units (CPUs). The hash function uses random secret data so that hash keys for particular data are difficult to predict. Due to its internal structure, well-chosen random secret data is difficult for an attacker to counter without having access to the direct output of the hash function. At every stage of the block function, there are at least two operations that can be performed in parallel, increasing performance on modern superscalar CPUs. Thus, the resilient hashing system provides a hash table and checksum that can be used in Internet-facing or other vulnerable sources of input data to manage performance in the face of malicious attacks.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to graphical representation and/or automatic generation of an iteration rule in mapping design that is to integrate or transform one or more input data sets into another target data set. The input and output data set can be of flat or hierarchical in nature. In an embodiment, a graphical interface allows users to specify an iteration rule (e.g. JOIN operation in a relational database) in a tree-like structure (e.g. a JOIN tree). The interface allows users to visualize and implement complicated and powerful combinations of multiple data sets, including data sets exhibiting hierarchical structure. Drag-and-drop techniques may be employed to reduce the need for manual typing. Also disclosed are procedures automatically generating an iteration rule based on the data mapping information, thereby reducing a need for manual mapping.

An access program module, connected to at least one file system, intercepts a data request for accessing a plaintext file with information stored physically and consecutively on a hard disk and having a pre-determined order and length expected by a program that sends the data request, wherein the plaintext file includes a plaintext record having a key field and a plaintext data field. The access program module determines an encrypted file, associated with the plaintext file, based on a configuration file and the data request, wherein the configuration file indicates the encrypted file associated with the plaintext file. The access program module determines one or more encryption keys based on the configuration file. The access program module accesses an encrypted data field within the encrypted file based on the encryption keys and the key field.

Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for optimizing file data compressed using deflate mechanisms such as the ZLIB Compressed Data Format Specification and the DEFLATE Compressed Data Format Specification. Deflate mechanisms output different deflate file data depending on specific file data parameters. An optimization tool decompresses the deflate file data and outputs an optimized data stream. When a client application attempts to access the deflate data, the tool deoptimizes the optimized data stream and applies the same deflate algorithm to generate deflate file data. Although the deflate algorithm is applied without using the file data parameters used to generate the original deflate file data, substitute deflate file data is produced.

Abstract: According to one embodiment of the present invention, a system analyzes data in response to detecting occurrence of an event, and includes a computer system including at least one processor. The system maps fields between the data and a fingerprint definition identifying relevant fields of the data to produce a fingerprint for the data. The data is deleted after occurrence of the event. The produced fingerprint is stored in a data repository, and retrieved in response to detection of the event occurrence after the data has been deleted. The system analyzes the retrieved fingerprint to evaluate an impact of the event on corresponding deleted data. Embodiments of the present invention further include a method and computer program product for analyzing data in response to detecting occurrence of an event in substantially the same manner described above.

Group information for classifying the original datums into several groups is received. The nodes of the weighted suffix tree belonging to a same group are merged according to the group information. Data is analyzed according to the weighted suffix tree after being merged.

Abstract: Exemplary method, system, and computer program product embodiments for real-time selection of compression operations are provided. In one embodiment, by way of example only, available compression operations are initialized according to an assigned success factor. The available compression operations are tested for determining if at least one of the compression operations yields a compression ratio greater than a minimal compression ratio.
