Abstract: A lock manager running on a machine may write a first entry for a first process to a queue associated with a resource. If the first entry is not at a front of the queue, the lock manager identifies a second entry that is at the front of the queue, and determines whether a second process associated with the second entry is operational. If the second process is not operational, the lock manager removes the second entry from the queue. Additionally, if the queue becomes unavailable, the lock manager may initiate failover to a backup copy of the queue.

Abstract: Example systems and methods of extracting and processing data are described. In one implementation, a method accesses genealogy data (which includes a root node) associated with multiple data sources. The genealogy data is expanded from the root node. The method identifies data objects associated with the genealogy data and identifies a simplification rule to apply to the genealogy data. Data objects in the genealogy data that satisfy the simplification rule are identified by the method. A simplified representation of the genealogy data is generated by replacing each identified data object with a link to a predecessor data object.

Abstract: Data Brick is a state of the art solution to access the data through high speed data access mechanism that is exceptionally fast and is associated with low CPU consumption cost. The Data Brick stores relatively static reference data in the form of a programming language Load Module. The Load module contains the data can be launched into the application program memory and this data can be accessed very efficiently in a programming language program. Static application data that is accessed by multiple applications in a mainframe Batch environment is a prime candidate for the Data Brick.

Abstract: Suspicious activity may be found by automated methods and systems that analyze data records to find association rules correlating values in the fields of the records and then analyzing the association rules, as the association rules themselves can be indicative of improprieties. Thus, minimal human intervention is used to find improprieties in even very large datasets. If the data records are records of sales transactions, the finding and the analyzing of association rules as disclosed can flag suspicious-appearing transactions that may have resulted from improprieties, such as human mistakes or intentional frauds. Instructions for performing the disclosed analyses may be stored on non-transitory storage media for access by systems to execute the automated methods.

The join index is parsed for current date and current time criteria. The data model may include a hierarchical relationship between a leading data entity and at least one child data entity. The method may also include authorizing, with an authorization device, when retrieving the leading data entity. The method may include instructing the authorization device that data retrievals of subsequent data entities are to be authorized based upon the authorization of the leading data entity. The method may also include retrieving at least one child data entity of the leading data entity without providing additional authorization credentials.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a method is provided for providing feedback regarding validity of data referenced in a report. In this method, the report is accessed, and this report references data stored in a data source separate from the report. A profile of metadata associated with referencing the data source is read from the report, and this profile is verified against a current state of the data source. A mismatch is detected based on the verification and a digital watermark is added to a rendering of the report. This digital watermark informs the mismatch associated with the referenced data.

By providing a big, secure location vault in the cloud, the system enables big data analytics to be used to allow current and future questions to be asked of this data and to correlate this with other data to enable new scenarios not yet enabled. Thus, the location collection system provides a model to report, gather, and analyze location data across devices and users.

Abstract: One or more network devices receive, from a third-party system, catalog metadata for physical media assets available to order and combine the catalog metadata with catalog entries for digital content to form a unified catalog file. The one or more devices receive, from a user device, a request to view a directory of available video content and send, to the user device, the unified catalog file for presentation to a user. The one or more devices receive, from the user device, a selection of an item in the unified catalog file. The one or more devices provide, to the user device, video content corresponding to the selection when the selection corresponds to one of the catalog entries for digital content and provide, to the third-party system and via a billing gateway, user payment information when the selection corresponds to the catalog metadata for one of the physical media assets.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes receiving a plurality of uniform resource locators (URLs), where the URLs identify content files, and where the URLs include at least one parameter. Fingerprints of the content files are identified. A first entropy of values of the fingerprints conditional on values of a first parameter is determined, and a second entropy of values of the first parameter conditional on values of the fingerprints is determined. It is determined that the first parameter is irrelevant to the identification of a unique content file by the URLs based, at least in part, on the first and second entropy values.

Abstract: Techniques are described for generating structured information from semi-structured web pages, and retrieving the structured knowledge in response to a user query that indicates a query intent. The structured information is automatically extracted offline from semi-structured web pages, through the use of an auto wrapper solution that is noise tolerant, scalable, and automatic. The structured information is stored in a knowledge base, and provided in response to a user search query that indicates a query intent. Extraction of structured information may also include clustering of pages based on their measured similarities. The clusters may be determined based on similar elements in the tag path text data of the pages. A minimum size threshold may be applied to the clusters.

Abstract: A method for managing class metadata in a garbage collected system, including (i) allocating a metaspace to a class loader of a mutator using a memory heap, where the metaspace is configured to store the class metadata generated by the class loader, (ii) storing, in the metaspace, class metadata items associated with classes defined by the class loader, where the class metadata items and the class loader are coterminous, and where all of the class metadata items are identified by a garbage collector as live if any of the class metadata items is reachable by the mutator, (iii) updating a linkset graph during resolution of symbolic links to sumarize cross-metaspace references, and (iv) reclaiming, by the garbage collector based on a pre-determined algorithm using the metaspace, memory locations unreachable by the mutator, where all memory locations allocated to the class metadata items are reclaimed together as a group.

The method may further comprise associating one or more media segments with each of the one or more topics. The one or more media segments associated with a topic may contain a representation of the topic. The method may additionally comprise generating a semantic signature for the media content. The semantic signature may comprise an indication of the one or more identified topics and the one or more media segments associated with each topic. Corresponding apparatuses are also provided.

Abstract: A method for hybrid Discovery Library Adapter (DLA) book processing identifies a first logical group in a first DLA book, the first DLA book including a first set of objects constructed according to a Common Data Model (CDM) specification to represent a first set of corresponding instances of resources at a first time, the first logical group being a grouping of related subset of the first set of objects. A first value corresponding to the first logical group, and usable for ascertaining a difference between the first logical group and a second logical group in a second DLA book, is computed. A second value corresponding to the second logical group is computed and matched with the first value. If matched, a change in the first logical group as compared to the second logical group is identified and output to a DLA delta book.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, computer program product and a system for supporting star and snowflake data schemas for use with an Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) process, comprising selecting a data source comprising dimensional data, where the dimensional data comprises at least one source table comprising at least one source column, importing a data model for the dimensional data into a data integration system, analyzing the imported data model to select a star or snowflake target data schema comprising target dimensions and target facts, generating a meta-model representation by mapping at least one source table or source column to each target fact and target dimension, automatically converting the meta-model representation into one or more ETL jobs, and executing the ETL jobs to extract the dimensional data from the data source and loading the dimensional data into the selected target data schema in a target data system.

Abstract: An electronic discovery (eDiscovery) application is used in managing an electronic discovery process across different electronic data sources using a central interface. The eDiscovery application assists in managing: authentication support for the different data sources; accessing the different data sources; placing holds on content across the different data sources; searching and filtering content across the different data sources; gathering data across the data sources; and the like. The eDiscovery application may be configured as an application on premise, a cloud based service and/or a combination of a cloud based service and an application.

Abstract: Rules, such as condition-action rules, are configured at different levels of a hierarchy. For example, a top level site administrator may configure rules, lower level administrators may configure rules and end users may configure rules. Rules created at a higher hierarchical level are automatically inherited by lower hierarchical levels in the same branch of the hierarchy. The source of the inherited rule is indicated with its display such that the hierarchical level of creation can readily be determined The inherited rule(s) may be toggled on/off at the lower hierarchical levels but edits to inherited rule(s) are restricted. Instead, a copy of any inherited rule may be made to create a local copy of the rule that is editable. Rules may be ordered and when a lower hierarchical level inherits the rules, the ordering is preserved. While the ordering of any rules remains constant when inherited at the lower levels, the lower level may toggle on/off the execution of each rule within the ordering.

Abstract: An intelligent battery charger comprises functional units including a file storage system, a controller and a communication device. The intelligent charger can be used as a centralized data storage system for personal electronic devices. When a personal electronic device is connected to the intelligent battery charger for charging the battery, data files are transferred from the electronic device to the charger or vice versa. The data files may be stored in different electronic devices according to a status file that includes storage locations of each data file. The intelligent charger may also be used to connect to a media delivery unit such as a HiFi audio system or a digital TV system as an external storage unit.

Abstract: A method implemented in an online transaction processing system is disclosed. The method includes, upon a read request from a transaction process, reading a transaction log, reading data stored in a storage without accessing the transaction log, and constituting a current snapshot using the data in the storage and the transaction log. The method also includes, upon a write request from the transaction process, committing transaction by accessing the transaction log. The method also includes propagating update in the commit to the data in the storage asynchronously. The transaction commit is made successful upon applying the commit to the transaction log. Other methods and systems also are disclosed.

Abstract: A hybrid approach that combines a small “native” shell and a rich web-based user-interface (UI) is used to develop an application. The shell portion includes a database adapter developed for the targeted platform. The web-based UI can be shared between different devices (mobile/non-mobile) that can host a web-browser. Once the UI has been developed it can be used across mobile devices and desktop devices. A database proxy/adaptor intercepts database calls to be performed on a database defined according to a first specification. The database calls are intercepted before they can be executed against the database. The database adapter processes the database calls to be performed against a different database. The results are returned to the caller as if the database command was performed following the first specification against the database identified in the database command.

Abstract: A method of provisioning organization users in a multi-tenant database system includes receiving a request via a single sign-on protocol from an organization user to create a new multi-tenant database user account for access to the multi-tenant database system. The method retrieves rules that specify how to derive user permissions for access to the multi-tenant database system from stored user attributes of the organization user. The method continues with applying the rules to the stored user attributes to determine permissions for the users to access particular objects in the multi-tenant database system, and creating the new user account with the determined user permissions for access to the multi-tenant database system.

Abstract: A journaling system provides access to subsets of user information in a segregated fashion. This permits its users to define access settings for their user information thereby limiting which other users may access the user information. In one or more embodiments, the journaling system may include a server or other computing device and one or more storage devices used to store the user information, associated access settings, or both. The access settings may define particular criteria which must be met before a subset of user information may be accessed, and may identify particular users that may access the subset of user information.

Abstract: A method of accessing tape storage analytics data gathered from tape libraries. The method includes generating a user interface on a client device via a web browser. The user interface includes a first screen displaying graphics or an analysis table generated based on the tape storage analytics data. The method includes receiving user input selecting a portion of the displayed graphics or an item within a cell of the analysis table and, then, modifying the user interface to display a second screen, which presents a subset of the tape storage analytics data corresponding to the selected portion and to operation of at least one of one or more tape libraries, one or more tape drives, and one or more tape media within the tape libraries. The receiving and modifying steps may be repeated to navigate between data corresponding to a tape library, a tape drive, and media.

Abstract: Methods and systems for managing distributed storage servers are described. The storage servers may be selected and divided into multiple sequences and multiple virtual node groups. Each sequence of the multiple sequences may include a predetermined number of storage servers, and each virtual node group may include a set of storage servers of the multiple sequences. Data may be transferred to storage severs of a virtual node group. If the storage servers have instantaneous or temporary malfunctions, the data may be transferred to temporary storage servers and then transferred back the storage servers after being revived. If the storage servers have permanent malfunctions, the data may be transferred to the temporary storage servers. The storage servers may be replaced using the temporary storage servers.

Abstract: This invention is a computer-aided system, method, and product for creating, monitoring, and aggregating electronic consumer reviews of a specific entity. Moreover, the consumer reviews are automatically aggregated and grouped by the location of the consumer creating the review and the salesperson of the specific entity being reviewed. Each group of the grouped and aggregated consumer reviews are displayed on a network location that can be monitored by the entity being reviewed. Furthermore, each individual consumer review is displayed on at least two different network locations. Providing this plurality of network locations produces greater search engine optimization for the business being reviewed, and contributes to a higher search engine ranking on a plurality of search engine results pages.

Additionally, the components of the input data record may be determined using a positional input interface definition including a sample record comprising a input key in each position. Each component is matched to the input key for its position. Components are matched to corresponding components of each position of the output data record, using a positional output interface definition, with the output interface definition including an output key for each record position.

Abstract: An internet and/or intranet based system and method for limiting access to confidential records to properly authorized and authenticated parties. The system's central premise is that the person to whom such records pertain should control access rights through specific, informed consent. It reinforces the widely held conception of privacy in general, while also providing an expedited and cost efficient means to find and transfer confidential records. It also gives the repositories where these records are held the right to stipulate the specific terms and conditions that must be fulfilled before they will release documents. And it carries out all of these legitimate interests in a way that is fast, simple to use and easy to audit. The system optionally includes a billing mechanism to pay for any added cost associated with providing this additional protection; and in its preferred embodiment, is applicable to both digital as well as non-digital records.

Abstract: A method implemented by a computer for recognition of multidimensional patterns, represented by multidimensional arrays of multidimensional vectors which are derived from data collected from speech, images, video, signals, static physical entities or moving physical entities. The recognition is based on classification into pattern classes. For the classification the invention provides efficient methods for the computation of similarity measures between input patterns and stored patterns. Usually, input patterns are acquired by sensors and their class is unknown. They are classified by finding the stored pattern class with the highest similarity measure to the input pattern. For speech and image recognition, the methods provide additional innovations which improve the reliability. Speech is represented by one dimensional arrays of multidimensional vectors. These arrays represent continuous speech our methods have novel means for separating the signal into words and phonemes.

Abstract: A background page script is executing on a device. A plurality of webpages are executing on the device. The plurality of webpages register with the background page script. An action generated by one of the plurality of webpages is cached in a database. In response to a determination that the device is in an online state and that the one of the plurality of webpages is no longer registered, the background page script retrieves the action from the database and transmits the action.

A determination is made on the aircraft as to whether the first hash value matches a second hash value from a software integrity data structure stored on the aircraft. The software integrity data structure comprises the hash values that are not determined on the aircraft for the software parts used by the aircraft. A validation status is provided based on whether the first hash value matches the second hash value. An operation is performed on the software part on the aircraft only if the first hash value matches the second hash value.

Abstract: In a business where a database tracks customers and manages customer accounts, a method and system correctly link accounts with customers. The method entails reading customer information for a first customer and for a second customer, and then utilizing personal identification information obtained from other sources to determine if the first customer is the same as the second customer. If the first customer and the second customer are the same person, the first customer and the second customer are identified as being the same unique person. Accounts associated with the two customers are identified as belonging to the same unique person. Viewed another way, the method and system of the present invention takes an existing database of personal identification information, and cross-references that database against other sources of personal identification information to identify persons who appear to be separate persons, but who are actually one and the same individual.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention related to access control to sensitive data records, and in particular need-to-know information access using quantified risk. In one aspect of the invention access control includes retrieving a list of accesses to data by a plurality of users for a certain purpose during a specified period of time. The access patterns are derived based on said accesses and the derived access patterns are stored. A risk score is computed, for each of the plurality of users based on each of the plurality of users' need to access the data for said certain purpose, and the risk scores are stored. An aggregated total risk score for each of the plurality of users is created based on each respective user's computed risk score in a specified number of recent periods of time. A risk tolerance threshold is determined based on the aggregated total risk score for each of the plurality of users.

Abstract: There is provided a system, method and computer program product for integrating at least one analytical or modeling driver into an existing business analytic environment. The system comprises a BAMS (Business Analytics and Mathematical Sciences) driver, implemented on the memory device and run by the processor, loads a real database driver and redirects a request from a client application to the real database driver. An extension driver, invoked by the BAMS driver, provides an interface to a data modeling or processing software and converts the interface from a software environment compiled by a programming language to another software environment targeted to another programming language. The extension driver extends or overrides functionalities of the BAMS driver. Implementing the BAMS driver and the extension driver in the existing business analytic environment do not require any change made on the existing business analytic environment.

Abstract: Peer-to-peer redundant file server system and methods include clients that determine a target storage provider to contact for a particular storage transaction based on a pathname provided by the filesystem and a predetermined scheme such as a hash function applied to a portion of the pathname. Servers use the same scheme to determine where to store relevant file information so that the clients can locate the file information. The target storage provider may store the file itself and /or may store metadata that identifies one or more other storage providers where the file is stored. A file may be replicated in multiple storage providers, and the metadata may include a list of storage providers from which the clients can select (e.g., randomly) in order to access the file.
