State Error (i.e., Content Of Instruction, Data, Or Message) Patents (Class 714/49)
  • Patent number: 8892963
Abstract: A system and method for detecting errors in high-speed asymmetric interfaces are described. Embodiments include transmitting digital data between a first system component and a second system component over a bidirectional interface, wherein the first component is significantly more intelligent than the second component. The first component receives a signature from the second component over a line of the interface concurrent with READ and WRITE operations over the interface. The latency associated with transmission of a signature from the second component to the first component is the time taken for the second component to compute a signature. The signature received is compared to a signature stored by the first component. Both signatures correspond to a particular READ or WRITE command. Based on the comparison, the first component determines whether the READ or WRITE operation was successful, and directs the second component as necessary.

  • Patent number: 8880963
Abstract: There are provided a message processing device and a method improved to store a plenty of messages used for processing. When a message is transmitted to another node for providing a service, a message processing unit (26) monitors the message transferred and stores it in a storage region whose allocation is released when the remaining memory amount has become little. When an error has occurred in the processing of a service providing unit (200), the message processing unit (26) stores the error type and a session identifier associated with it. When a message transmission is requested from outside and the error type, the session identifier, and a message associated with them are stored, the message processing unit (26) transmits them. If the storage region which was containing a message is released and no message exists, the message processing unit (26) transmits the other two items.

Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are provided for hosting a virtual machine from a snapshot. In particular, a snapshot of a virtual machine hosted on a primary computing device may be created. The virtual machine may be hosted on a secondary computing device using the snapshot, for example, when a failure of the virtual machine on the primary computing device occurs. If a virtual machine type (format) of the snapshot is not supported by the secondary computing device, then the virtual machine within the snapshot may be converted to a virtual machine type supported by the secondary computing device. In this way, the virtual machine may be operable and/or accessible on the secondary computing device despite the failure. Hosting the virtual machine on the secondary computing device provides, among other things, fault tolerance for the virtual machine and/or applications comprised therein.

Abstract: According to some embodiments, a message generated by a downstream device is received at upstream device. The message may, for example, be received via a peripheral interface and may not require a response. It may then be determined that an error is associated with the message, and an alert message may be sent from the upstream device to the downstream device via the peripheral interface.

Abstract: An application programming interface (API) executed by a first processing unit combines audio data samples with error code values generated for those samples. The API then causes a data stream to be opened having sufficient bandwidth to accommodate combined samples made up of audio data samples and corresponding error code values. The combined samples are then transmitted to a decoder and validation unit within a second processing unit that receives the combined data, strips the error code values and validates the audio data based on the error code values. When the error code values indicate that the audio data has been compromised, the second processing unit terminates the output of sound derived from the audio data.

Abstract: A method for processing a plurality of received copies of the same original data, the method comprising performing maximum ratio combining on equivalent data portions of the received copies to derive at least one further equivalent data portion. The received and the constructed copies are then divided into sub-portions and combinations of divided sub-portions are assembled to provide reconstructed data portions. An error rate assessment is performed on the reconstructed data portions; and on this basis one is selected as an output.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for using an intermediate database management layer to manage communications between an application layer and a database layer. The database management layer can receive an initial communication from the application layer and transmit a subsequent communication to a particular database based upon a rule. The rules can specify the particular database based upon the initial communication and an availability status of the database. The rules specify criteria by which the initial communication is identified and logic specifying the particular database to receive the subsequent communication based upon the identification of the initial communication.

Abstract: Various embodiments of systems and methods for executing a customized business process in a business process framework are described herein. A user selection of a solution type corresponding to a business process is received from a user interface. In response to the user selection, a query is executed to retrieve application types and corresponding sub-application types from a business logic stored in a database. Configurable attributes are generated based upon the application types and the corresponding sub-application types. Based upon the application types, the sub-application types and the configurable attributes, the business process is customized to create a customized business process. Based upon a configuration information, a user input to the customized business process is captured from the user interface. The user input is validated by comparing the user input with the business logic. The customized business process that is validated is further executed in the business process framework.

  • Patent number: 8639975
Abstract: A data processing system 2 is used to perform processing operations to generate a result value. The processing circuitry which generates the result value has an error resistant portion 32 and an error prone portion 30. The probability of an error in operation of the error prone portion for a given set of operating parameters (clk, V) is greater than the probability of an error for that same set of operating parameters within the error resistant portion. Error detection circuitry 38 detects any errors arising in the error prone portion. Parameter control circuitry 40 responds to detected errors to adjust the set of operating parameters to maintain a non-zero error rate in the errors detected by the error detection circuitry. Errors within the one or more bits generated by the error prone portion are not corrected as the apparatus is tolerant to errors occurring within such bit values of the result value.

Abstract: The embodiments described herein generally relate to methods and systems for using an extended patching procedure for correction or repair of logical data portions, pages, or sectors of a computer data storage device. The extended patching procedure targets for repair not only the page(s) appearing to be defective or unusable based on a failed read operation for a data transfer request, but also additional pages. Determining the additional pages to include for automatic patching is based on: statistical distribution analyzes to include pages within the physical or logical vicinity of the original page, information about the underlying storage device technology or Input/Output (I/O) subsystem, and/or historical data about error conditions for areas related to the original page. Preemptively patching pages based on extended page lists improves system performance by reducing the total number of costly repair processes and by avoiding situations involving correction actions that fail to resolve.

Abstract: Some aspects of the disclosure relate to automated quality control of a media asset. The quality control can comprise testing automatically various facets of content reproduction. In one embodiment, three facets can be tested: (1) access to a rendering unit configured to reproduce content of the media asset; (2) rendering of at least a portion of visual content of the media asset; and (3) rendering at least a portion of the aural content of the media asset. In one aspect, testing the rendering of the visual content can be differential in that features of the rendering can be monitored at a plurality of instants during content reproduction and can be compared for two or more instants of the plurality of instants. In another aspect, based on the comparison, the media asset can be deemed to pass the quality control and thus be accepted for consumption.
