Abstract: A machine for processing envelopes includes a receiving assembly with a tray where envelopes are received and guided towards an envelope cutting assembly. A sensor determines the width of the envelope to align on of the two longitudinal cutting members. Another sensor detects the leading and railing edge of the envelope and with a circuit control the advancement of the envelope to cooperative positions that permit another cutter member to act transversally. The envelope is then passed to an unfolding assembly where the uppermost and lowermost sheets are loose and sandwich inbetween the contents. The uppermost sheet is pulled out to the display assembly that is hermetically closed. Subsequently, a transversally moving roller is used to lift the folds of the content, if any, and to affix the unfolded contents to protruding pins. The engagement with the protruding pins is slowly undone as the contents are pushed towards the display assembly.

  • Patent number: 4169397
Abstract: A method of processing a fibrous cable fed at a high speed comprises the steps of braking the cable by coiling it on a stationary cylinder and simultaneously discharging at a low speed the lower cable windings by exerting downward pressure on the upper windings. The discharged windings can be deposited into containers or cut into staple fibers by pressing the discharged windings against stationary knives. A device for carrying out the method comprises an upright rotatable shaft having a hollow upper part for receiving the cable, a downwardly projecting guiding member attached to and communicating with the hollow upper part, a stationary cylinder surrounding the lower portion of the shaft and having in its cylindrical wall a plurality of vertical slits, a wobble plate disposed within the cylinder and having a plurality of fingers projecting through the vertical slits in the cylindrical wall.

  • Patent number: 4165663
Abstract: A vertical bandsaw machine having a feed mechanism with a driving component movable in opposite directions in response to the application thereto of hydraulic fluid pressure. A workpiece engaging element urges the workpiece towards the cutting blade in response to movement of the driving component in one direction, while accommodating movement of the workpiece away from the cutting blade during movement of the driving component in the opposite direction. The application of hydraulic fluid pressure to the driving component is controlled by valves which are both manually adjustable and automatically responsive to the forces opposing workpiece movement towards the cutting blade.

  • Patent number: 4034636
Abstract: A lay table is placed adjacent to a cutting table with the tables in end-to-end relationship so that layups of limp sheet material may be prepared on the lay table and then be moved onto the cutting table for a cutting operation. A sled formed by a low friction, non-stretching, sheet material is first placed on the lay table and the layup is then formed on top of the sled. Motor-driven cabling extends between the cutting table and the lay table and when a layup is to be moved, the sled is coupled to the cabling and pulled by the cabling with a layup thereon onto the cutting table. The layup on the cutting table is then clamped in position, and the cabling pulls the sled out from between the layup and the cutting table.

  • Patent number: 3935773
Abstract: Box capacitors are loaded onto an in-line track feeder with the capacitor leads extending downward between a pair of tracks. Vibration of the tracks moves the capacitors thereon so that the capacitor leads pass between the meshing teeth of a drive gear and an idler gear that is caused to turn by the former. The tracks are spaced from the gears to prevent damping of vibrations of the former. The leading edges of the teeth on the gears have a radius thereon for providing smooth feeding action of the capacitor leads between the gear teeth. The drive gear also has a chamfer on the top edges of the teeth thereof to reduce the possibility of jamming on components with bent leads. A disk is attached to the underside of the idler gear for cutting the component leads to a prescribed length as they pass between the disk and the drive gear. The ends of the teeth on the idler gear are truncated such that a cut lead is compressed into a valley between teeth on the drive gear to thereby straighten these leads.
