Abstract: An oscillating hair dryer nozzle assembly attaches to a hand held electric hair dryer. An oscillating nozzle is pivoted back and forth by forced air generated by an electric motorized fan within the hair dryer. A propeller receives the forced air and rotates a propeller shaft which is coupled to a gear reduction assembly. The gear reduction assembly converts the rotational motion of the propeller shaft into repetitive pivotal movement of the oscillating nozzle. The oscillating nozzle automatically redirects the air flow in a plane. In one embodiment, the nozzle assembly is rotatably attached to the output barrel of a hair dryer body so that the oscillating nozzle can be rotated to pivot and redirect air flow in a different plane.

Abstract: Disclosed are a cumulative hair-dyeing temporary hairdye comprising 0.01 to 3% by weight of an acid dye as a colorant, 0.1 to 10% by weight of a nonionic or anionic silicone base resin, 3 to 20% by weight of a hair-dyeing aid, 30 to 80% by weight of a lower alcohol and 5 to 50% by-weight of water and having a pH of 2 to 5 and a viscosity of 100 mPa·s or less and a production process for a cumulative hair-dyeing temporary hairdye, wherein the respective components are blended in such an order that at least a nonionic or anionic silicone base resin and a lower alcohol are mixed to prepare a vehicle, and then the other components are blended therewith and stirred.

Abstract: This invention relates to a hair braider and its auxiliary device, which are portable and braids three bunches of hair into a strand. The hair braider has a substantially figure ‘8’-configured cam track allowing three carriers to move along the cam track for a ‘8’ track motion. Three carriers combined detachably with three grabbing members accommodating three bunches of hair therein travels along the cam track as a couple of rotors rotate in opposite direction. While three hair grabbing member held on the holders of the carriers conduct the figure ‘8’ motion, three bunches of hair in three hair grabbing members are braided into one strand.

Abstract: A hair wrapping device has a handle portion and a carousel structure. An electric drive in the handle rotates the carousel about a central passage. The carousel structure includes bobbins and structures for allowing decorative strands on the bobbins to be directed into the central passage along with a tress of hair. When the drive is energized the carousel structure rotates and wraps each decorative strand around the tress as the wrapping device is moved along the tress of hair.

The hair-trimming tool comprising a tool body having a pair of hair-bunch supporting pieces whose tip ends can open and close, a connecting portion which connects base ends of the hair-bunch supporting pieces, a protruding portion protruding from the connecting portion in a direction substantially perpendicular to an opening/closing direction of the hair-bunch supporting pieces, and cutting means provided on one of or both of inner opposing surfaces of the hair-bunch supporting pieces along a longitudinal direction thereof, wherein the cutting means is disposed substantially in parallel to a scalp in a cut-starting attitude where a tip end of the protruding portion comes into contact with the scalp, the hair-trimming tool further comprises holding means which is provided on a surface of the hair-bunch supporting piece opposed to the scalp in the cut-starting attitude, and which holds lower side of a hair-bunch at a given angle to the scalp.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for inserting a decorative ribbon into braided human hair. The apparatus is of a needle configuration having an elongated shaft pointed at one end and a ribbon-retaining eyelet at the opposite end. The eyelet has a progressive engagement and retaining insert to selectively engage and hold a ribbon within. A ribbon can therefore pass through the weaves of the braid in a variety of decorative repetitive patterns.

Abstract: A hair rinsing apparatus includes a liquid impervious helmet having a hemispherical configuration for partially covering a user's head. An inflatable air bladder extends along a continuous peripheral edge of the helmet for establishing a watertight seal between the peripheral edge and the user's head. The apparatus includes an air pump that may be releasably coupled to the air bladder with a needle valve and needle valve receptacle combination for selectively inflating or deflating the air bladder. The apparatus includes a hose that may be connected to a helmet input port. A plurality of rinse tubes defining a plurality of holes are positioned within the interior of the helmet and are in fluid communication with the inlet port for dispersing a water stream into the helmet as water is received through the hose. An outlet opening is extends through a rear portion of the helmet for draining water therein.

Abstract: An apparatus for wrapping hair strands with string or artificial hair is disclosed. The apparatus has a shell that defines an axle having an opening. The axle rotatably supports a drive wheel, a spool of string and a guide wheel. The drive wheel engages the guide wheel. The string passes from the spool past the guide wheel, which has circumferential notches to engage and play out the string. In practice, the user passes a hair strand through the opening in the axle, fastens the string to a hair strand, energizes the apparatus, and moves it along the length of the hair strand as the string is wrapped about the strand. The apparatus is preferably powered by a small DC motor.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a hair gripping device to be mounted on a hair accommodating tube to grip a bundle of hair in a proper friction force during hair braiding by a hair braiding machine. The present hair gripping device comprises a tapered head portion having a nozzle for the bundle of hair to pass through; and a body portion, extended from the head portion in one piece, having a plurality of inner partition walls to give the bundle of hair a zigzag, spiral, or helical bends, thereby tensioning the bundle of hair properly during a braiding and/or releasing it smoothly at the end of braiding. Accordingly, a uniform and tidy, style of braided hair is obtained.

Abstract: The invention comprises a foil piece for use in treating hair, comprising a ridge pattern which enhances application of the treating agent to the hair. In the preferred embodiment, the ridge pattern will be essentially horizontal when in use. The ridge pattern allows the treating agent to be retained by the foil piece on close proximity to the treated hair.

Abstract: A hair braider kit. An individual grips a handle of a hair braider and moves a center “off” switch to a first conducting position. An electric motor is energized and a stop engages a rotatable body thereby to block rotation of the body and permit a planetary gear system to rotate individual hair twisting elements to form twisted hair strands. When the switch is moved to a second conductive position, the blocking element is removed so the rotatable body wraps the twisted strands over each other into a braid without any significant motion of the twister bodies with respect to the rotatable body. A stand supports the hair braider and facilitates the attachment of hair strands to the hair twisting elements.

The spool carrier has a platform and a drive spindle operatively coupled to the main spindle so that rotation of the main spindle is translated into rotation of the platform. The drive spindle has guides for receiving cord and permitting the cord to be disposed through a bore extending through the drive spindle. The rotation of the main spindle causes cord to be dispensed through the one guide and the drive spindle bore and the main spindle bore, hair is disposed through the drive spindle bore and the main spindle bore, and the main spindle is rotated to wrap the hair with cord.

Abstract: The present invention entails a hair coloring kit that enables a person to mix or formulate a plurality of different hair color compositions. The kit includes a base composition or hair spray, a group of color concentrates, and a dispenser. One or more of the color concentrates is mixed with the base composition in the dispenser to form a hair coloring composition of a particular color. Thereafter, the formed hair coloring composition can be sprayed onto the hair of a person.

Abstract: A neck and ear protection device for protecting the skin the ears and neck region from being burned by heated air from a hair dryer. The neck and ear protection device includes a base portion being shaped for being positioned around the neck of the user. The base portion is designed for protecting skin of the neck of the user from direct contact with the heated air. A pair of ear portions are coupled to the base portion. Each of the ear portions is positioned whereby the ear portions are diametrically opposed when the base portion is positioned around the neck of the user. Each of the ear portions is shaped for receiving one of the ears of the user. The ear portions are designed for preventing direct contact between the heated air of the hair dryer and the skin of the ears.

Abstract: A hair wrapping device and method which includes a housing and a motor contained within the housing. A cover is rotatably mounted to the housing and is driven by the motor. A spool for receiving cord is mounted for rotational movement with the cover. The cord is held for rotation with the cover. The cover has an aperture to thread a lock of hair and the cord therethrough. Rotation of the cover by the motor causes rotation of the cord around the lock of hair, thereby wrapping the hair with the cord.

Abstract: An insect repellent substrate (10) includes a fabric base material (12) made of felt which is impregnated with a repellent carrier composition (14). The carrier composition (14) includes a mixture of wax and a naturally occurring insect repellent such as pyrethrum oil. The carrier composition (14) may also include scented or aromatic oils such as citronella oil, rosemary oil, eucalyptus oil and neem oil. Strips of the fabric base material may be attached to headwear such as a headband or cap so that it is in contact with the wearer's hair or body. Active constituents of the carrier composition (14) provide effective treatment and prevention of headlice and other parasitic insects.

A spool for receiving cord is freely rotatable independently of the cover. The cord is held for rotation with the cover. The cover has an aperture to thread a lock of hair and the cord therethrough. Rotation of the cover by the motor causes rotation of the cord around the lock of hair, thereby wrapping the hair with the cord.

Abstract: A headband sized to wrap around a user's forehead and extend past the user's ears to prevent the dripping of hair treatments into a user's face and eyes. The headband includes a base band, a resilient seal band extending upwardly and inwardly from the base band, and a channel extending therebetween along the base band such that conditioner dripping down toward the user's forehead will flow across the seal band and into the channel whereupon the liquid will exit the channel behind the user's ears.

Abstract: The present invention provides tools, kits and methods for braiding animal hair, in particular hair of the horse's mane. Tools include a pulling tool, a cutting tool and a cutting comb. The pulling tool and the cutting tool are attachable to ends of a cord that retains them in a convenient position for the groomer to use. The tools may be assembled in a kit for easy use. Methods are disclosed for the use of these tools to braid the animal's mane in an aesthetically desirable manner.

Abstract: A system of components that cooperate to shield the exposed skin of the ears, forehead and neck against contact by a hot curling iron includes a head band, an ear piece, and neck shield. The ear pieces fit over the ears, cupping the tops and backs of the ears to both protect them and derive support for the system from them. The head band and neck shield attach to ear pieces and are made of a heat resistant fabric. The three components will not prevent burns in every case but can prevent or limit injury from the proximity of the hot curling iron and harm from the occasional, inadvertent touching of the iron.

The hooks hold a first and second strand of hair, respectively, in slideable engagement and can be retracted and extended by the operator. A third stand of hair is braided with the first and second strands as the arms and books are caused to automatically rotate cyclically and reverse their previous positions. The cyclic rotation carries the first and second strands with it and produces a braid as the operator moves the third strand upward and downward through the opening defined by the arms and the first and second strands. The apparatus may be powered by a DC motor.
