Abstract: A method and adaptor for installing a flue liner in a fireplace chimney in the installation of a fireplace insert is shown. The adaptor can be slidably mounted on top of the firebox of the fireplace insert with two slider brackets mounted on top of the firebox. The adaptor has a sleeve therein for coupling to the flue liner. The flue liner can be conveniently installed by first inserting it into the chimney with its lower end connected to the sleeve. The adaptor is then slidably mounted to the firebox by slidably engaging with the two slider brackets while the firebox is being inset into the fireplace.

Abstract: This air conditioner stand is designed to support an air conditioner within the opening of a fireplace instead of a window opening, and the hot air produced by the air conditioner's condenser will be blown up the fireplace chimney by a fan in the circuit of the stand. Primarily, the stand consists of a base that supports the air conditioner, and the base is sloped rearward and is provided with a stop member that includes the mounted fan. Provision is also provided in the stand for water to drain through a flexible hose that may extend into the ash trap opening in the floor of the fireplace.

Abstract: The provision of an add-on, complete, decorative front facing or facade for zero clearance metal fireplaces; a complete, decorative metal fit-on facade or facing for a zero clearance metal fireplace where the facing/facade is made up of individual, discrete, horizontal and vertical metal panels and the said individual vertical and horizontal panel members interfit and engage with one another and the structure of the zero clearance fireplace in order to permit the element by element assembly or application of the facing/facade and, further, to effectively hold the panel members together upon assembly; a system of providing a full frontal facade or metal panel facing for a zero clearance fireplace, such made up of individual vertical and horizontal panel and grill facing members applicable to a standard zero clearance fireplace front at any time after the latter is installed, thus to drastically improve the appearance of the fireplace front.

Abstract: An outer hearth pad is provided with a frame for overlying the elevated peripheral edges of an outer hearth. A padding material is secured to the outer surface of the frame by a covering material overlying the padding material, the covering material being secured to the inner surface of the frame. The outer hearth pad is secured to the outer hearth by portions of the outer hearth pad engaging portions of the outer hearth.

Abstract: An ash mat comprises a laminate preformed to the size and shape of the bottom of a structure in which ashes are generated, such as a fireplace, a wood burning stove or an outdoor bar-b-que appliance. The laminate is made up of two outer layers of aluminum foil and an inner layer of fiberglass matting or spun glass matting adhered to the outer layers. The laminate is provided with handles so that it can be picked up easily, thus facilitating disposal of the mat and its contents. The handles are in the form of holes through the laminate and are preferably reinforced to prevent tearing of the material and to avoid sharp edges which would be hazardous to the user.

Abstract: An adjustable fitting for directly connecting a wood burning insert for a masonry fireplace to a vent pipe positioned within a flue liner of the fireplace chimney is made up of an insert connector having first and second legs which are substantially perpendicular to one another. Thr first leg of the insert connector is vertically oriented when the fitting is in place and is sized to engage a flue gas outlet of a wide variety of wood burning inserts. A vent pipe connector completes the adjustable fitting and also has first and second legs which are substantially perpendicular to one another. The first leg of the vent pipe connector is vertically oriented when the fitting is in use and is sized to engage a lowermost end of the vent pipe.

Abstract: A pad for covering exposed surfaces of a fireplace hearth to protect against injuries due to forceful contact with the hearth. The pad includes a top piece, a front piece, and a left and a right side piece which are releasably attachable at their mating edge portions to form a four-sided open box shaped protective pad.

Abstract: The hearth guard includes a plurality of flameproof cotton batting sheets. A rectangular flameproof cloth encases the plurality of flameproof cotton batting sheets. Elastic bands are encased within and affixed inside the cover, situated at and parallel to the top and bottom of the cover, within openings defined by at least one seam. The elastic bands allow for fitting the cover to the hearth. Drawstrings are inserted longitudinally through the top and bottom of the cover, within openings defined by at least one seam. The drawstrings allow for securing the cover to the hearth. The elastic bands and drawstrings may use the same opening or may have separate openings. If separate openings are used, the openings may share a common seam. At least one pair of tie strings is used to secure the cover to an upstanding side. For each pair of tie strings, one tie string is affixed to the edge of the cover, while the remaining tie string is affixed to the opposite edge of the cover.

Abstract: A fireplace provided with a sound reducer is shown. The sound reducer eliminates ambient noise feeding back to the indoor through the flue system of the fireplace.

Abstract: A universal fireplace is provided as standard prefabricated substantially hollow rectangular prism shaped frame adapted to support all six walls of the universal fireplaces supported on the hollow rectangular prism shaped frame. The top wall is adapted to support the exhaust stack and the bottom wall is adapted to support the fire brick for the fire chamber. At least one of the sidewalls comprises a pair of glass doors supported by edge frame means pivoted on upper and lower side support panels which are mounted on said hollow rectangular prism shaped frame.

Abstract: A chimney liner system for insertion into a masonry chimney from the top of the chimney down to a stove or fireplace insert. If an offset or a chimney shelf exists in the chimney, a flexible metal pipe member is connected to the bottom end of the chimney liner system. A ceramic heat resistant cloth formed as a sleeve encloses the flexible metal pipe member in selected systems, and in some systems, the sleeve encloses the entire chimney liner system. In some applications, the sleeve may be made from a fiberglass cloth sewn or connected to an inner blanket insulation.

Abstract: An outside air supply control apparatus for a fireplace comprising a first cylindrical pipe for connection to an outside air supply, the pipe containing at least one aperture in its wall. A second cylindrical pipe having an inside diameter slightly larger than the outside diameter of the first pipe, and having a closed end, is disposed coaxially over the end of the first pipe. The second pipe has an aperture in its wall which can overlap the aperture in the wall of the first pipe when rotated to a first position, and has an unapertured portion which can completely block the aperture in the wall of the first pipe when rotated to a second position.

Abstract: Fifteen prefabricated refractory concrete blocks, consisting of ten different sizes and/or shapes assemble to provide a replacement firebox of U-shape with facing side walls joined by a rear wall. In one embodiment a metal lintel is disposed at the front upper boundary of the structure produced from the fifteen blocks, the lintel resting on the side walls bridging the opening therebetween and defining the upper boundary of the hearth opening. A masonry transition cone is erected atop the side walls and lintel. In a second embodiment, trapezoidal sheet metal panels are assembled to form a transition cone above the U-shape structure. The bottom courses are produced from blocks that are in the form of oblique rectangular parallelepipeds. These are arranged so that the joints are staggered vertically. The upper portion of the rear wall below the transition cone is formed from oblique trapezoidal prismatic blocks. Certain of the blocks in addition are truncated.

Abstract: A safety device for an elevated hearth comprises a pad member substantially spanning the hearth to which the safety device is to be attached and for thereby substantially covering the vertical surfaces thereof. A fabric cover is secured to and disposed exterior of the pad member. An elastic band is secured to the cover for drawing the cover about the hearth. Velcro fasteners are attached to the cover and to the hearth for releasably securing the two together.
