  • Patent number: 6559977
Abstract: To provide a reading/printing apparatus and a reading apparatus by which the facility with which each unit is assembled and maintained can be significantly improved because steps of fixing and connecting individual units need not be performed in order, a printing apparatus, a control board, and a power supply are disposed inside a housing obtained by integrally forming a base portion serving as a bottom surface, side walls serving as outer side surfaces, and an opening surrounded by the side walls. The reading apparatus, the printing apparatus, the control board, and the power supply are discretely constituted. The housing includes a first housing integrally formed with enough strength to separately fix the base portion, lower portions of the side walls, the reading apparatus, the printing apparatus, the control board, and the power supply, and a second housing covering the opening and integrally forming upper portions of the side walls.

Abstract: Disclosed are a communication apparatus capable of efficiently using a communication line, a control method of the communication apparatus, a facsimile apparatus, a communication method, and a program. To accomplish this, if “print later” in a menu is selected with an image displayed during data communication while a line is connected (S432), printing data is generated from an HTML file of the displayed image (S433). That is, the displayed image is designated as an image to be printed after the line is disconnected. The generated printing data is stored in a printing data buffer (S434). If the presence of the data in the printing buffer is detected (S437) after the line is disconnected (S436), the data is printed (S438).

Abstract: An image reading and recording apparatus is provided with a carriage having the drive switching gear, which transmits driving power to a reading drive gear train only in a drive switching position. Then, when a reading command is issued, the carriage moves to this drive switching position. For this operation, a driving motor that serves as one driving source is arranged to transmit the driving power thereof to the recording drive gear train and the reading drive gear train. Also, there is no need for an original and a recording sheet to pass different passages of transportation by shearing a common passage of transportation for use by both of them, hence making it possible to materialize downsizing the apparatus, and reducing the cost of manufacture as well.

  • Patent number: 6522429
Abstract: A facsimile communication system includes a calling and a called facsimile machine connected via a communication network. Each of the facsimile machines has a timer value representing a maximum allowable response time for a response signal relative to a signal transmitted to the counterpart facsimile machine. Using the timer value, each of the facsimile machines monitors whether the response signal is received from the counterpart facsimile machine within the timer value. If the response signal is not received within the timer value, retransmission of the transmitted signal is required. The called facsimile machine transmits all timer value change information for increasing the timer value to the calling facsimile machine. The calling facsimile machine selects the optimum timer value change information within the range of the timer value change information received from the called facsimile machine, and transmits the selected timer value change information to the called facsimile machine.

  • Publication number: 20030025944
Abstract: A method and apparatus for placing an indelible mark on each page of a document which has been sent by FAX. The sender's FAX machine applies a clear/transparent chemical or ink message on the surface of the document which contains information such as the FAX machine identification number, telephone number of the FAX recipient, and the time and date of the FAX transmission. The information is printed and is invisible to the naked eye, but becomes visible underneath a low voltage UV light. The light is placed above the tray in which completed faxes are temporarily stored to make the mark visible to the operator to assure that each page of the document was separately sent. A separate pen light allows a sender or management person to confirm that a document has been properly and completely transmitted. Visible ink may be used if desired.

The print command is included in the data operation commands. Also the fax transmission data is deleted only after a deletion command is received. Therefore, whether or not the fax transmission data has been properly converted into a fax format can be confirmed before the fax transmission data is transmitted to a remote device. Also, a printed copy of the facsimile message can be obtained based on the fax transmission data. There is no need to retransmit the data in order to obtain the fax copy.

In a computer system configuration that includes one or more clients connected to one or more printers via a network, a client is configured to manage print jobs initiated by that client and optionally to manage print jobs initiated by other clients. In managing and processing print jobs, the clients utilize a broadcast that is transmitted across the network for a variety of purposes, such as to register a client in a distributed management of print jobs, to indicate an intent to despool a print job, to set or check the status of a despooled print job, to set or get the status of a particular printing device, to request print queue information, and/or to request a print queue change. A local spooler or print processor initiates such broadcasts to enable the managing and processing of print jobs.

  • Patent number: 6456386
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to improve an efficiency in using bins in a sorter of an image forming system, to which a plurality of personal computers are connected. If the number of the receptacles appointed in accordance with the receptacle appointment command or the number of sets of sheets to be sorted is larger than the number of empty receptacles, offset sorting is performed in which the position, at which the recording sheets are received, is shifted in the same receptacle. If the appointed number of the receptacles or the number of sets of sheets to be sorted is smaller than the number of empty receptacles, a normal sorting process is performed in such a manner that the bins are allotted in accordance with the position of the bins appointed with the command for appointing receptacles or the number of sets of sheets to be sorted.

Abstract: In the case that a PC sends a call to a called site on a telephone line network, but fails in its connection, the PC and a modem of a facsimile apparatus are connected. Then, the telephone number and image data of the called site are stored in a RAM of the facsimile apparatus. After storage is completed, the telephone line network and the modem of the facsimile apparatus are connected. Then, a call is sent to the called site and the image data is sent to the called site. This allows connection to be made to the PC without using a dedicated interface and prevents burdening on the PC in redialing in the case that there is no answer from the called site.

  • Patent number: 6449063
Abstract: The invention provides a facsimile apparatus which can perform the re-transmitting operation adapted to receive reception data in a good state on the reception side upon error re-transmission when a both-side document sheet is transmitted. At the time of a facsimile communication, the presence or absence of a both-side reception function is notified from a receiver to a transmitter and the both-side document sheet is designated by a DCS signal from the transmitter to the receiver. When the both-side document sheet is designated by the DCS signal, the front side and the reverse side are sequentially transmitted. When shifting to a one-side document sheet in the middle of the page, the one-side document sheet is designated by the DCS signal by returning to phase B.

Abstract: In a gear changing device, when a sun gear rotates in a forward direction, a rotating member is rotated in the same direction as the sun gear and planetary gears are pivotally rotated around the sun gear. When the sun gear rotates in a reverse direction, the rotating member stops rotating and allows the planetary gears to rotate on axes thereof to a plurality of predetermined positions on a path of the planetary gear that pivotally rotates. A plurality of transmission gears are provided at a plurality of predetermined positions along the path of the planetary gear pivotally rotating, so as to engage with each of the planetary gears. A plurality of recesses and projections that are recessed and protruded, respectively, in the diametrical direction of the rotating member are alternately formed in an outer periphery of the rotating member. Each of the recesses and projections has a specific width. A sensor switch that detects the recesses and the projections at a predetermined position is provided.

  • Patent number: 6437880
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for indicating a call charge on a display of a facsimile device determines whether a message which is included in a D-channel of service information is a facility message or a display message. If the message is a facility message, the call charge is calculated by multiplying the number of calls included in the facility message by a call rate, and the call charge is outputted to a display window and/or a printer. If the message is a display message, the call charge included in the display message is detected, and the call charge is outputted to the display window and/or the printer. Accordingly, a user can identify the call charge easily and conveniently.
