The reading apparatus, the printing apparatus, the control board, and the power supply are discretely constituted. The housing includes a first housing integrally formed with enough strength to separately fix the base portion, lower portions of the side walls, the reading apparatus, the printing apparatus, the control board, and the power supply, and a second housing covering the opening and integrally forming upper portions of the side walls.

To accomplish this, if “print later” in a menu is selected with an image displayed during data communication while a line is connected (S432), printing data is generated from an HTML file of the displayed image (S433). That is, the displayed image is designated as an image to be printed after the line is disconnected. The generated printing data is stored in a printing data buffer (S434). If the presence of the data in the printing buffer is detected (S437) after the line is disconnected (S436), the data is printed (S438).

Abstract: An image reading and recording apparatus is provided with a carriage having the drive switching gear, which transmits driving power to a reading drive gear train only in a drive switching position. Then, when a reading command is issued, the carriage moves to this drive switching position. For this operation, a driving motor that serves as one driving source is arranged to transmit the driving power thereof to the recording drive gear train and the reading drive gear train. Also, there is no need for an original and a recording sheet to pass different passages of transportation by shearing a common passage of transportation for use by both of them, hence making it possible to materialize downsizing the apparatus, and reducing the cost of manufacture as well.

Abstract: A facsimile communication system includes a calling and a called facsimile machine connected via a communication network. Each of the facsimile machines has a timer value representing a maximum allowable response time for a response signal relative to a signal transmitted to the counterpart facsimile machine. Using the timer value, each of the facsimile machines monitors whether the response signal is received from the counterpart facsimile machine within the timer value. If the response signal is not received within the timer value, retransmission of the transmitted signal is required. The called facsimile machine transmits all timer value change information for increasing the timer value to the calling facsimile machine. The calling facsimile machine selects the optimum timer value change information within the range of the timer value change information received from the called facsimile machine, and transmits the selected timer value change information to the called facsimile machine.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for placing an indelible mark on each page of a document which has been sent by FAX. The sender's FAX machine applies a clear/transparent chemical or ink message on the surface of the document which contains information such as the FAX machine identification number, telephone number of the FAX recipient, and the time and date of the FAX transmission. The information is printed and is invisible to the naked eye, but becomes visible underneath a low voltage UV light. The light is placed above the tray in which completed faxes are temporarily stored to make the mark visible to the operator to assure that each page of the document was separately sent. A separate pen light allows a sender or management person to confirm that a document has been properly and completely transmitted. Visible ink may be used if desired.

Abstract: The fax transmission routine is started in S410 when a fax entering command is transmitted from the personal computer. The fax transmission data is stored in S440 to S490. Once a data operation command, such as a print command, a send command, and a deletion command, are inputted, then corresponding operations are executed in S500 to S570. The print command is included in the data operation commands. Also the fax transmission data is deleted only after a deletion command is received. Therefore, whether or not the fax transmission data has been properly converted into a fax format can be confirmed before the fax transmission data is transmitted to a remote device. Also, a printed copy of the facsimile message can be obtained based on the fax transmission data. There is no need to retransmit the data in order to obtain the fax copy.

More specifically, when a plurality set of data is being received through two or more lines in parallel, the facsimile device of the present invention allows the set of data that has completed storage of its first one page content most quickly to preferentially use a printer. Then that set of data is allowed to continue delivering the hard copy of whole pages and releases the printer after completing the delivery. The image data of the other set of data that was not able to occupy the printer is stored in the memory and printed out after the release of the printer. As each entire page of a set of data is successively output, image data of other sets of data is never mixed with the currently output one.

A user needs only to execute a signal action to complete a given operation through the UOI provided by the invention. The disclosed method includes the steps of initiating a one-touch OS, running the fax controlling mechanism to perform analyses, selecting a fax sending procedure through the fax controlling mechanism, preparing a fax document, receiving editing messages by the user using an editing module, prompting the user to enter a fax number and relevant information and preview them, and sending the fax through a communications module.

The method may be applied to the detection of initiation sequences for fax and modem transmissions, for example the ITU-T recommendation T.30 V.21 fax initiation sequence and the ITU-T recommendation V.25 modem transmission preamble. If the message is a display message, the call charge included in the display message is detected, and the call charge is outputted to the display window and/or the printer. Accordingly, a user can identify the call charge easily and conveniently.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for improving the appearance of electronic images, and more specifically, to the efficient use of template rotation within a template matching process to enhance such images. The invention reduces the number of entries that are stored in a look up table by eliminating identical patterns that differ only by the angle at which they are output. The appropriate templates are then rotated it by the required angle for output subsequent to their retrieval from the lookup table.
