Telephone Line Or System Combined With Diverse Electrical System Or Signalling (e.g., Composite) Patents (Class 379/90.01)
  • Patent number: 8363800
Abstract: A communication apparatus repeatedly outputs a first multi-carrier signal SS during predetermined periods T1, T2, T3, . . . , and outputs a second multi-carrier signal RS whose phase vector is different from that of the first multi-carrier signal SS, at a predetermined timing based on the first multi-carrier signal SS. The communication apparatus further detects the second multi-carrier signal RS output from another communication apparatus, which uses a different communication method from the communication apparatus. Accordingly, both communication apparatuses can differentiate the first multi-carrier signal SS from the second multi-carrier signal RS without performing relatively cumbersome modulation and other processes.

Abstract: A communication system has a network access device (NAD) that is designed to deliver Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) along with high-speed data to Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). The NAD is backpowered by the CPE across a subscriber line. When backpower is provided from the CPE, circuitry (referred to as a “POTS signaling element”) within the network access device converts POTS control signaling to digital data for transmission to the CPE. The band vacated by the POTS control signaling is used for the power signal on the subscriber line. In the absence of backpower, components of the network access device are bypassed, thereby providing POTS in the event of a power failure. The NAD receives advance warning of the backpowering so that it can disable the bypassing in order to prevent the power signal from leaking through the NAD to the network.

Abstract: A phone dialing method is carried out on a communication device when browsing photos so as to make a phone call. First, a browser is activated to load a picture. Face features of all the existing human faces are detected. The face features of all contacts in a directory are compared to find out the contact matching the characters of human face. Then, the phone number of the contact is dialed. Further, after the picture is loaded, a user may set an identification area to narrow down the scope of identifying human faces. After that, the characters of human face of the selected human face are analyzed, and a search is made in the directory to find the contact matching the characters of human face. Finally, call contact by the number of directory.

Abstract: A computer system and method is disclosed for automatically establishing a screen sharing session between a first party and a second party based upon device associations. A computer telephony system establishes a telecommunication session between at least a first and second party. The computer telephony system receives a request for a screen sharing session from one party to the telecommunication session. Using a configuration plan, the computer telephony system is able to determine the proper computing devices between which to establish the screen sharing session absent user entry. A screen sharing session is created between the parties of the telecommunication session and optionally tied thereto.

  • Patent number: 8190705
Abstract: A system and method establishes communications between first and second parties. A request initiated by a first party is generated for establishing a communications channel over a first communications network between the first and second parties. An intermediary server device interrupts the request and attempts to generate the channel. If unsuccessful, the server device translates the request into a data network object, which is passed to the second party via a second communications network. The network object enables the second party to communicate acceptance for establishing communication with the first party over the first communications network. The second party invokes the network object upon receipt thereof or at a future time for creating a communications channel between the first and second parties. Alternately, the first party may establish a coupon for communication directly to a second party without a first prior attempt to create the channel.

  • Patent number: 8184783
Abstract: An integrated communication interface is provided for composing and sending messages. The interface is multi-configurable to seamlessly switch between different communication methods, e.g., electronic mail, instant messaging, SMS, chat, voice, and the like, without loss of message content. The interface allows a user to begin composing a message to be sent using one communication method, such as electronic mail, and subsequently change the communication method and send the message via a second communication method, such as instant messaging. When the communication method is changed, the user interface may also change to include elements specific to a particular communication method. The integrated communication interface may display information about participants in the communication, such as the participants' presence, i.e., whether they are online and available for communication, and may automatically choose the best method of communication based on the preferences and online presence of the participants.

Abstract: The invention provides an information retrieval apparatus and an information retrieval method by which information can be retrieved in an improved operability. A CPU controls a video camera to fetch an image and controls a GPS to detect a current position. The CPU reads out, from within image data stored in a corresponding relationship with URLs of WWW servers, those image data which correspond to position data regarding positions around the detected current position from a WWW data base via a modem and a host machine. Then, the CPU selects, from among the read out image data, that image data which matches with the fetched data, reads out a URL corresponding to the image data and accesses a WWW server designated by the URL.
