Abstract: Using High-beam and low-beam transmission signals that have different antenna tilts, different beam-widths, and different polarizations than one another may provide performance advantages in wireless networks. The high-beam transmission signal and the low-beam transmission signal may have orthogonal polarizations. For example, the high-beam transmission signal and the low-beam transmission signal may be linearly polarized signals having different electromagnetic field (E-field) polarization angles with respect to the y-axis, e.g., +/? forty-five degrees with respect to a vertically polarized wave. As another example, the high-beam transmission signal may be a vertically polarized signal, and the low-beam transmission signal may be a horizontally polarized signal, or vice-versa. In addition to having orthogonal polarizations, the low-beam transmission signal may have a greater antenna beam down-tilt angle, and a wider beam-width than the high-beam transmission signal.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device and a system for transmitting data messages which can be received by different types of receivers. A device and system are disclosed where data transmissions are based on data messages (2) comprising two parts, a first part (20) being encoded in accordance with a communication protocol, such as the wireless MBus protocol, and a second part (21) which comprises error-correcting information for enabling a receiver device to correct errors in the data message (2), such as parity information related to turbo coding. The first part (20) forms an independent sub data message which can be received independently of the content of the second part (21). The sub data message can be received as is within a first communication range (6), and the entire data message can by virtue of the error correction information, and subsequent error correction, be received within a second longer communication range (7).

  • Patent number: 9906280
Abstract: A closed loop MIMO feedback system is described in which the number of available antenna ports is less than the number of antenna elements. In one implementation, sounding reference signals, received from a number of UEs, may be used, by a base station, to generate and transmit a number of OFDMA Channel State Information Reference Signals (CSI-RSs). The OFDMA CSI-RSs may be determined based on the top eigen beams associated with an average channel covariance matrix determined based on the received sounding reference signals. A UE, in response to receiving the OFDMA CSI-RSs, may determine a preferred eigen beam and transmit a quantized version of the preferred eigen beam back to the eNB. Subsequent communications with the UE may be made using beamforming techniques that are based on the quantized version of the preferred eigen beam.

  • Patent number: 9876271
Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate a mobile communication device and techniques to suppress deterioration of antenna characteristics. The mobile device includes metallic members that are disposed around, or in portions of a casing of the mobile device. The metallic member is grounded directly to a ground plane of the mobile device at a first predetermined position. The grounded metallic member forms a stub line that cancels a flow of electric current though the metallic member. Furthermore, the metallic member is also connected to the ground plane, at a second predetermined location, via a resonant circuit. The mobile device is capable of adjusting a phase of the antenna current flowing through the device, when the mobile device is being operated by a user, and thus suppresses deterioration of antenna characteristics in certain desired frequency bands.

Abstract: The present disclosure illustrates a bidirectional wireless charging device. The bidirectional wireless charging device comprises a transceiver chip which is configured to receive a switch signal. The transceiver chip comprises a power stage circuit and a control module. The power stage circuit is coupled to a coil, and the control module is coupled to the power stage circuit. The power stage circuit is configured to output a voltage to the coil, or to receive an induced voltage from the coil. The control module is configured to control the transceiver chip to enter a power mode or a charging mode based upon the switch signal. When the transceiver chip enters the power mode, the transceiver chip provides the voltage to the coil. When the transceiver chip enters the charging mode, the transceiver chip receives the induced voltage from the coil and charges a power storage unit.

Abstract: An access point IHS group controller failover system includes a first access point IHS group controller that controls a first access point IHS group that includes plurality of access point IHSs. Following a failure of the first access point IHS group controller, the first access point IHS broadcasts a first access point IHS identifier to a first subset of the plurality of access point IHSs. The first access point IHS then registers the first subset of the plurality of access point IHSs as members of a second access point IHS group, and controls at least some functions of the second access point IHS group. When the first access point IHS detects activity from the first access point IHS group controller, it instructs the first subset of the plurality of access point IHSs in the second access point IHS group to reconnect to the first access point IHS group controller.

Abstract: Aspects disclosed herein include a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna swapping circuit. The MIMO antenna swapping circuit includes primary switching circuitry configured to be coupled to a first antenna and a third antenna, and secondary switching circuitry configured to be coupled to a second antenna and a fourth antenna. The primary switching circuitry is coupled to the secondary switching circuitry via no more than three conductive mediums to enable antenna swapping between the first antenna, the second antenna, and the fourth antenna. By coupling the primary switching circuitry and the secondary switching circuitry via no more than three conductive mediums, it is possible to reduce the number of conductive medium in the MIMO antenna swapping circuit, thus helping to reduce cost, footprint, and complexity of the MIMO antenna swapping circuit.
