Abstract: An electronic device, typically a microcontroller, which is divided into a multiplicity of power domains comprising one or more intelligent peripherals, is provided with an on-board power management module for switching power to one or more domains for pre-determined time periods and in a predetermined sequence. The values of the predetermined time periods and sequence may be pre-programmed by the design engineer or user of the device. In one example, power is switched to domains in a round robin fashion. An optional interrupt capability permits selective application of power to a dormant intelligent peripheral requesting it at the expense of others and based on a priority scheme. Consumption of current supplied to power domains may be monitored by a power watchdog or alternatively via a dedicated power monitor associated with each intelligent peripheral. Abstract: A thermal test system includes first and second heat generating components that include first and second temperature sensors, respectively. A thermal controller is coupled to the first and second temperature sensors and at least one cooling device. The thermal controller receives, from the first temperature sensor during a thermal test, first temperature data that is indicative of heat generated in response to the operation of the first heat generating component, as the first heat generating component and the second heat generating component operate as part of the thermal test. The thermal controller also receives, from each second temperature sensor during the thermal test, second temperature data that is indicative of heat generated in response to the operation of the second heat generating component. The thermal controller then operates the at least one cooling device at a level based on the first temperature data while ignoring the second temperature data.

Abstract: A modified sleep state graphics processing system includes a graphics processing system coupled to a central processing system that is configured to enter different sleep states. A power management engine coupled to the graphics processing system and the central processing system determines that the graphics processing system is operating above a graphics processing activity threshold and, in response, prevents the central processing system from entering a first subset of the different sleep states. The central processing system is configured to communicate with the graphics processing system to cause the graphics processing system to render graphics while prevented from entering the first subset of the different sleep states. The power management engine may then determine that the graphics processing system is operating below the graphics processing activity threshold and, in response, allow the central processing system to enter the first subset of the different sleep states.
