Abstract: Systems and methods for power distribution by an ethernet controller are disclosed. A first input port receives a first power carried by a first ethernet cable and sourced by a first source PoE device. A second input port receives a second power carried by a second ethernet cable and sourced by a second source PoE device. The first input port is at a first voltage lower than a minimum voltage of a specified input voltage range and the second input port is at a second voltage lower than the minimum voltage of the specified input voltage range. A controller, coupled to the first and second input ports, substantially equalizes current flowing across a first output port and a second output port, coupled to the downstream PoE devices, such that a load, caused by the downstream PoE devices, between the first output port and the second output port is shared.

  • Patent number: 11522383
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing flow batteries utilize a battery management controller (BMC) coupled between a flow battery and a DC/DC converter, which is coupled to an electrical grid or a photovoltaic device via an inverter. The inverter converts an AC voltage to a first DC voltage and the DC/DC converter steps down the first DC voltage to a second DC voltage. The BMC includes a first power route, a second power route, and a current source converter coupled to the second power route. The BMC initializes the flow battery with a third DC voltage using the current source converter until a sensing circuit senses that the voltage of the flow battery has reached a predetermined voltage. The sensing circuit may include a capacitor, which has a small capacitance and is coupled across each cell of the flow battery, coupled in series between two resistors having very large resistances.

Abstract: A resource tracking storage system can track and associate resource usage within storage devices to requesting virtual hosts. Controllers may be configured to receive commands for storage device usage sent from the requesting virtual hosts. Each command for storage device usage may result in a need for future maintenance work to be done within the storage device. Additionally, performance policies, which may be one or more set of rules, thresholds, and/or specifications that indicate a minimum (or maximum) level of performance by the storage device can be regulated by tracking and determining which hosts are degrading the performance of the storage device. With this solution, one or more performance policies can also be enforced by making sure one host is not negatively impacted from the negative storage device usage of another, errant host, even prior to the need for maintenance.

Abstract: Systems and methods provide wireless power to an Information Handling System (IHS). A multimode wireless power transmission unit supports USB-PD (Universal Serial Bus Power Delivery) power transmissions and also supports a high-power transmission of a voltage greater than USB-PD transmission voltages. The IHS detects the wireless coupling of the wireless power transmission unit. As part of this coupling, the IHS determines whether the wireless power transmission unit supports high-power transmissions. A wireless power transfer is negotiated and a power circuit of the IHS is configured for converting the negotiated high-power transmission to an input utilized by the IHS. Embodiments utilize a power circuit that provides efficient conversion of power transmissions of up to 60 volts. This same power circuit also provides efficient conversion of power transmissions of up to 60 volts by a multimode USB-C power adapter.

  • Patent number: 11494237
Abstract: A computing system includes processor cores for executing applications that utilize functionality provided by a deep neural network (“DNN”) processor. One of the cores operates as a resource and power management (“RPM”) processor core. When the RPM processor receives a request to execute a DNN workload, it divides the DNN workload into workload fragments. The RPM processor then determines whether a workload fragment is to be statically allocated or dynamically allocated to a DNN processor. Once the RPM processor has selected a DNN processor, the RPM enqueues the workload fragment on a queue maintained by the selected DNN processor. The DNN processor dequeues workload fragments from its queue for execution. Once execution of a workload fragment has completed, the DNN processor generates an interrupt indicating that execution of the workload fragment has completed. The RPM processor can then notify the processor core that originally requested execution of the workload fragment.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for implementing fine-grain power management for virtual reality (VR) systems are disclosed. A VR compositor monitors workload tasks while rendering and displaying content of a VR application. The VR compositor determines the priorities of different tasks of a given VR frame and cause power states to be assigned to processing units to match the priorities of the tasks being performed. For example, if a first task within a first frame period is assigned a high priority, a processing unit executing the task operates at a relatively high power performance state when performing the first task. If a second task within the first frame period is assigned a low priority, the processing unit operates at a relatively low power performance state when performing the second task. By implementing fine-grain power management in a VR environment, the likelihood of the processing unit suffering a thermal event or impaired performance is reduced.

In an embodiment, switch circuits are each coupled between a power bus and a different respective one of the multiple batteries. Respective nodes of the switch circuits are each to couple to a different respective power sink, wherein power delivery to the power sinks is monitored. Based on the monitoring, the switch circuits are configured for a first battery to serve a substitute for a second battery. Configuring the switch circuits includes electrically decoupling the second battery from a first node, and electrically coupling the first battery to deliver power via both a power bus and the first node. In another embodiment, multiple backup units each include a respective battery and switch circuit, wherein respective controllers of the backup units intermittently communicate monitoring information via a data bus.

Abstract: The embodiments disclosed herein provide managing power over Ethernet through a switch. In particular, the embodiments provide a mechanism for a Power Over Ethernet (POE) switch device to request change of operation of Citizens Broadband Radio Service Devices (CBSDs) to dynamically adjust power requirements of the CBSDs. The POE switch device is configured to determine a power transfer rate is outside a predetermined range, and send a request to an identified CBSD of a plurality of CBSDs to operate under a different power mode to alter a power requirement of the identified CBSD. In this way, the POE switch device dynamically manages operation of the plurality of CBSDs and distributes power among the plurality of CBSDs based on power requirements, loads, and/or Spectrum Access Systems (SAS) limitations of the plurality of CBSDs. Such a configuration increases the number and/or type of CBSDs that can be deployed in a particular region.
