Abstract: In a cigarette packet of the type with a hinged lid composed of a rigid box and a soft inner wrapping directly enveloping the cigarettes, the lid end is reinforced internally by a frame lodged between the wrapping and the box, and the packet often assembled with a leaflet or coupon inserted between the frame and the wrapping. To ensure that the coupon does not slip out of place as assembly operations proceed, the frame or the coupon itself is fashioned with at least one slot position to interlock with a corresponding part of the coupon or the frame, accordingly.

Abstract: A cigarette package is dimensioned to hold an array of cigarettes in multiple rows and comprises a plurality of vertical walls defining a hexagon in cross-section. The walls are dimensioned to bear against an array of cigarettes in the package and having the same cross-sectional shape as the package. The package has a distinctive external appearance while permitting twenty or twenty-five cigarettes to be accommodated in three or four rows in the array.

Abstract: A smoking system for holding a smoking device, tobacco, filters and a cleaning rod, all in a convenient compact container. The smoking system includes a receptacle having bored within it a number of cavities to hold the smoking device, tobacco, filters and cleaning rod. The cavities containing the smoking device and tobacco are accessible from the top of the receptacle and may be opened or closed by an upper cover. The cavities containing the filters and cleaning rod are accessible from the bottom of the receptacle and may be opened or closed by a lower cover.

Abstract: A package for cigarettes comprising an outer housing and a partitioned pouch fitted into the outer housing so that the front wall of the housing the bottom of the housing and spaced apart end walls of the housing form a forst compartment in which cigarettes are placed and means to releasably seal said first compartment and with the rear wall, bottom and end walls of the outer housing forming a second releasably sealed compartment to receive articles placed therein for storage.

Abstract: A pack for cigarettes or the like and a process and apparatus for the production thereof is described. Due to several reasons (cigarette) packs quite often have greater (inner) dimensions than the pack contents (cigarette block 23). In order to fill a cavity formed hereby within the pack, a filling piece (39) is provided which is formed from a flat blank (40) by means of folding up outer blank portions. The filling piece is formed to have a three-dimensional shape by means of being displaced in a folding shaft (57) with laterally arranged folding means. The filling pieces (39) produced in this way are conveyed along a filling piece track (78) and are introduced into a block track (79) in transverse direction so they can each be united with a cigarette block (23).

Abstract: Paper stock is unwound, printed, folded, laminated and cut to form inserts. The laminated inserts are applied to an overwrap at an appropriately spaced interval. The resultant overwrap can then be wrapped around cigarette packs to provide each pack with an insert without slowing down production.

Abstract: An interframe for insertion into a cigarette box is provided. The innerframe allows a bundle of smaller than standard size cigarettes to be securely retained in a standard size cigarette box, which is larger than necessary to hold the smaller than standard size cigarettes. The innerframe creates space in the box so that the cigarettes are securely retained. The innerframe has a front panel, outer side panels, inner side panels, top panels and windows situated between the front panel and each of the outer side panels.

Abstract: A cigarette pack display container is disclosed. The container includes a cover member and a base member which are connected about a rim. The cover member has outwardly extending pockets. Between the pockets is a corner wall including a polygonal panel portion and a trapezoidal panel portion. The base member includes pockets and triangular facets spaced between the pockets. Between the rim below the triangular facet and the rim below the trapezoidal panel portion is an engaging element for reinforcing the cover member to the base member. The reinforcement means includes a lip of the cover member that overlaps and inserts beneath the bead of the base member. A receiving element also may be provided for holding complementary articles. In addition, the cover member may have a slightly recessed top wall for receiving a label for identifying the display.

Abstract: A container for transporting a compressed block of tobacco (18) comprises rectangular bottom top front rear and two side walls (2,4,1,3,5,6) which are formed of pliable sheets of non-shape sustaining fabric, such as woven polypropylene. The top wall (4) is connectable by a sliding clasp fastener (9,10,11,12) along three of its edges to the adjacent upper edges of adjacent walls.

Abstract: There is disclosed a package with controlled humidity for storing products such as tobacco and food. Teh package is an enclosed container with a humidistat pad inside which pad serves as a spacer and holds a humectant solution in its liquid phase in an absorbent interior layer. The pad has a liquid impervious backing layer to protect the walls of the container from the liquid humectant solution. The pad also has a liquid permeable cover which can rapidly transfer the humectant solution deposited on it to the absorbent layer during filling of the container with the product.

Abstract: A storage package for storing moisture-laden articles such as cigarettes including a shaped receptacle sized to receive a plurality of cigarettes, the receptacle having a moisture control vehicle disposed therein within an overwrap having a low moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) with such vehicle being treated with a saturated salt solution having a water activity level preselected to the water activity level of the cigarettes to maintain moisture equilibrium over an extended time period.

Abstract: Packaging for a plurality of small packs, especially cigarette packs. Several cigarette packs (21) are combined to form small groups or bundles, so-called sticks (20). Each group of cigarette packs (21) is held together by means of a wrapping (22) consisting of paper, cardboard of film material. So that at least the bottom walls (27) of the cigarette packs (21) are exposed or are accessible, the wrapping (22) is open on at least one side (longitudinal side 28). The cigarette packs (21) are connected to one another and to the wrapping (22) by means of an adhesively bonded film strip (30) or by means of individual strips (36, 37). Markings can be made on the film strip (29). The packaging (stick 20) is simple to produce mechanically and is easy to handle.

Abstract: A cigarette case comprises a rectangular frame body, a front cover and an upper cover. The three elements are slidably secured to one another to form a tight enclosure. The frame body includes a front portion, a rear portion and a hollow central portion. The frame body has an elongated slot at a side wall and has a spring-loaded transporting means set in its lower end. A drier storage box with a number of through holes on a front surface thereof is received in the rear portion for absorbing moisture inside the frame body. The front cover includes a side hole on its lower portion for ejecting cigarettes. A switch button of an actuating and lighting means is slidable to uncover the side hole and simultaneously light up a bulb for indicating that the side hole is uncovered.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are package inserts for cigarette products which comprise mutually nestable package inserts having cut-out edges to facilitate the removal of tobacco products from a package and which interconnect with other packaging inserts having the same shape so as to permit the formation of multiple package inserts from a single piece of regularly shaped stock. The package inserts may be placed in cigarette packs or boxes or in cigarette cartons.

Abstract: A package, such as a cigarette pack, is provided with a receptacle for containing a fragrance or flavor to be released upon initial opening by the consumer. The receptacle is provided by attaching to the polymeric film circumscribing the sealed package, in the area overlying the tear tape, an additional layer of polymeric film. The fragrance or flavor is entrapped between the polymeric film and the extra polymeric layer and is released when the tear tape is pulled through the receptacle to unseal the pack. The receptacle can be provided with compartments to minimize leakage or to allow the flavor or fragrance to be kept in two or more relatively inert components which react on contact to form the fragrance or flavor or, possibly, to form a propellant to disperse the fragrance or flavor.

Abstract: A snuff holding and dispensing apparatus including a body member having a hollow interior divided into a holding area for holding a quantity of snuff and a dispensing area for receiving a plug of snuff from the quantity of snuff in the holding area, and a plunger movable between a load position for allowing the plug of snuff to pass from the holding area to the dispensing area and a discharge position for dispensing the plug of snuff through a discharge opening in the body member. The plunger coacts with passage structure between the holding and dispensing areas of the interior of the body member to form a sharp slicing mechanism to slice the plug of snuff from the quantity of snuff as the plunger moves from the load position to the discharge position.

Abstract: A mini-pack of cigarette is provided and consists of an envelope of "cellophane" or the like sealed around a container for storing a plurality of small cigarettes and a small cigarette holder placed on top of the container. A plurality of the mini-pack of cigarettes are attached by the envelopes along sides of the containers forming a horizontal strip. A pull string is used to separate each mini-pack of cigarettes from the strip and at the same time separate the envelopes to remove the small holder.

Abstract: A cigarette case is provided with adjustable features to accommodate cigarette packages of varying lengths and widths. A longitudinally slidable insert serves to accommodate variations in package length while a swingable side panel attached to the insert is biased inwardly to accommodate variations in width of the package. A hinged package lid engages the lid of a hard-pack cigarette package for simultaneous opening therewith.
