Abstract: Provided herein is a novel method of game play utilizing a two-dimensional board having spaces arranged in orthogonal rows and columns in two alternating contrasting colors. Two dice are used as a chance element. Each player is assigned 12 ordinary pieces in one of the colors and a "King" piece. The "King" piece is bi-colored, so that when attacked or captured it may be converted to the other color by inverting it. The "King" counts as two pieces for the purposes of attack and stacking, and can move forward or backward. A path of play begins in a corner space of the player's color termed the "Start" and proceeds in a defined path from space to intersection to space alternately across the board to another corner space termed the "Finish". The path of play turns at a right angle at each space, so that the player always exits a space on the same side he entered it, and such a path change may be symbolized by a corner symbol on the board.

Indicia disposed on the boards and dice determine whether and where a player may place a marker on the board. Board indicia includes numerals two-dimensionally arranged to form a mathematical table. Indicia disposed on the dice includes numerals and mathematical functions. Results are mathematically calculated by a player from the various two numeral combinations presented by the dice. The player evaluates the results to assess the strategic significance of each, and a marker is placed at a position on the mathematical table corresponding to the chosen result. The first player to connect his or her markers from one side of the mathematical table to the other side wins.

  • Patent number: 5683088
Abstract: A game board apparatus and method of playing the game according to the present invention includes a game board arranged with four player areas. The four player areas are arranged in a virtually identical manner and each is marked for one of the four suits of a conventional deck of playing cards. Each player area includes four blocks with each block being partitioned into two game spaces which are separated by a ladder. The cards marked in the eight game spaces are for the two through nine of that player's suit. Above the ladders in each player's area are four squares marked for the jack, queen, king, and ace of that player's suit. An initial target value is assigned for the play of the game and a conventional deck of playing cards with a joker-like wild card mixed in is shuffled and placed on the game board. A conventional die in combination with a color-coded die is used by each player during their turn.

  • Patent number: 5679002
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for playing a math-teaching board game which enables a player student while manipulating game-pieces to gain an understanding of the concept of fractions and arithmetical operations associated therewith. The game is played by 2 to 4 players. The game includes a pyramidical-shaped board having a continuous path of steps, individual game tokens, a die, a plurality of decks of question cards for respective arithmetic operators, fraction boards and a slide box for placement of the fraction boards thereon. In playing the game, the player skillfully moves a selective game token up a number of steps based on the roll of the die. Each step on the board displays an arithmetical operator which determines which deck of question cards is selected. The player uses the fraction boards and the slide board in an attempt to visually determine the answer to a selected question. If the player answers the question correctly, the player remains on the step advanced by the die roll.

Abstract: A board game for play by one to six players. The board game has several container baskets, and a board with a number of connected paths. Each path has discrete places upon which a basket can be moved. Some of the paths allow for uni-directional travel and some paths allow for bi-directional travel. Non-passage areas are adjacent to the connected path. The board has an entrance and an exit for players' container baskets to enter, and to exit, respectively. A number of tokens are placed on discrete areas of the non-passage areas, directly adjacent the discrete places of the paths. The tokens bear indicia of value, and are claimed by a player's basket when it lands directly adjacent a token on non-passage area.

  • Patent number: 5662325
Abstract: Discs bearing markings or other indicators that differentiate them from each other are used to randomly select one of a number of possible outcomes. The discs may thus be used to introduce an element of chance in games. Each disc has two sides, one of which is marked with a number. The discs may be grouped into sets. The number marked on each disc in a set is the same as that of all other discs in that set, but is different from that of all discs in other sets. To use the discs to randomly select an outcome, a person stacks all the discs on top of one another. The person then topples the stack by tossing a heavier or larger disc at the stack. The outcome may be used to play a board game. Each disc may have several distinct types of indicators. Each indicator type may correspond to a different game, and each indicator type may be used in a different way to determine the outcome of that game. Alternatively, an indicator type may be used to determine a number of spaces to move a playing piece on the game board.

Abstract: A board game having a game board, tokens and a random indicator which may be tiles or dice. The game board has a playing surface defined by a matrix of spaces, and the random indicator is used to direct the movement of the tokens across the surface. The tiles or dice each have faces thereon, wherein each face bears three types of indicia. One type of indicia indicates the direction of movement of the token, either forward or backward, the second type of indicia indicates the amount of movement of the token, and the third type of indicia indicates the axis of reference the token is supposed to move along.

A set of tokens (30) have the same coding scheme and are used to register successful completion of tasks. There is also a set of auxiliary spaces (7) associated with auxiliary features of the game which are performed using a set of auxiliary cards (20).
