  • Patent number: 5066015
Abstract: A board game based on a railroad theme is provided wherein the players each assemble the necessary components of a complete railroad train, under rules simulating conditions normally existing in the marshalling yard of a conventional railroad system. The gameboard has a playing surface depicting the trackage, switches and other elements of a marshalling yard. A plurality of playing pieces represent the players and have a changeable status or rank. Other pieces are included which represent messages sent from the yard dispatcher to the players during play of the game and train components. The tokens are moved about the trackage according to values established by casting dice, by the use of a spinner, or other chance device for establishing values at random. The goal of each player is to acquire a locomotive, and thereafter to collect all of the other rolling stock needed to make up a complete train, before any of the other players.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for learning about the relationships and personalities among a group of participating persons, wherein a plurality of players can utilize tokens on a board in combination with a plurality of color cubes, scoring sticks, secret answer wheels, and question cards in the preferred embodiment of the invention. Scoring and the movement of the tokens is controlled by a combination of chance and the participating persons' knowledge of each other, as revealed by the secret answering of questions related to the present and future feelings and intentions of given persons chosen to be participants. Scoring is noted by insertion of relationship sticks into color cubes located on the tokens. The color personalities of the participating persons are reflected in individual participating person's sequential choice of color cubes for that person's token and thus affects the content of questions to be asked and answered relating to the personality of the participant.

  • Patent number: 4682777
Abstract: The present invention relates to a definition-word spelling game which is both educational and entertaining. The game uses a game board, a deck of cards, player pieces, letter-covering pieces, marker pieces and a chance device. The four sides of the game board are each defined by one of four different and distinct characteristic colors. The four player pieces, four sets of cards, four sets of cover tiles and four sets of markers are all similarly color coded. The board has four special function corners and each side between adjacent corners includes seven spaces for a total of 28. Each space includes a different and distinct letter of the alphabet with the remaining spaces being assigned special functions. A player landing on a given space, draws a card corresponding to the color on that section of the board the player is then read a definition of a word which normally starts with the letter on his given space.

Abstract: An elongate game board for use by at least two players, with the board having a number of holes disposed in an equally spaced manner in each of a series of essentially parallel columns, which columns extend for a substantial portion of the length of the board. The holes typically are of a depth sufficient to receive therein a peg representing each player. Elastic band suspension devices are located adjacent one end of the game board, around which an elastic band is mounted, with the elastic band having sufficient elasticity as to permit it to be stretched around two or more pegs placed in holes of respective columns. The elastic band continues to be stretched to a greater and greater extent as the players' pegs are moved further down their respective columns in a first direction, with the loser in each phase of the game being that person causing the elastic band to break while he or she is endeavoring to move his or her peg to a hole further away from the elastic band suspension means.

  • Patent number: 4643431
Abstract: A game of chance similar to blackjack is playable without a deck of blackjack playing cards. A plurality of player landing stations are provided on a game board in a predetermined sequence. Each such station has associated therewith a face value number which corresponds to the value of a pair of cards from a blackjack deck. A pair of dice is rolled initially to advance a player along the sequence of stations. In situations where the player thus advanced desires to receive the equivalent of another playing card, the dice are rolled again and the resulting numerical value is correlated probabilistically to predetermined card values. The correlated card value is then added to the base value number of the station on which the player has landed so as to provide a playing number. In embodiments where the numbers are correlated to the game of blackjack, a sum greater than 21 would be considered an immediate loss.

Abstract: A board game for two to four players in which each player is assigned an individual, flippable, playing piece that is used to chase an exchangable general playing piece which is able to earn points. The players move their pieces on a board having a number of paths of spaced indicia with reversible and collectable markers positioned atop the indicia. Initially one of the players is determined to be the one using the exchangable playing piece. The exchangable piece carries a spinner for determining its advancability. The other players, using another spinner, chase and try to catch the exchangable piece with the aggressive character of their assigned pieces facing upwardly. When an encounter between the general piece and one of the assigned pieces occurs, the outcome is determined by which side of the assigned piece faces upwardly. The character of the assigned pieces may be changed either by the spinner or by returning to the starting position.
