  • Patent number: 8638012
Abstract: A rotor for a synchronous reluctance machine wherein a torque ripple behaviour of the machine is optimized by altering the geometry of insulating barriers of the rotor. A q-axis pitch angle is used as a design variable instead of setting its value equal to the rest of the rotor slot pitches or binding its value to the stator slot pitch. The resulting rotor has a non-regular slot pitch across the q-axis and substantially regular slot pitch otherwise. Synchronous reluctance machines that employ rotor discs and rotor assemblies in accordance with the present invention may exhibit low torque ripple without sacrificing high torque values.

  • Patent number: 8575790
Abstract: The Superconducting Electrodynamic Turbine produces thrust by transferring momentum to the Earth, via the geomagnetic field. A pair of counter-rotating electrodynamic rotors, that are made from a Superconductor, act together to displace the surrounding geomagnetic field. The rotation of a Superconductor in the geomagnetic field, referred to as the exciting field, creates persistent eddy currents in the Superconductor. Lenz's Law states that an induced eddy current produces a magnetic field that opposes the relative change in the exciting field. A continuous increment of energy, or work, has to be expended to overcome the opposing force and to keep the counter-rotating electrodynamic rotors rotating at a constant rate. This work is transferred to the magnetic field. The Electrodynamic Turbine produces a unidirectional displacement in the exciting magnetic field, creating a force or thrust.

Abstract: In a double drive shaft motor, a stator and a field rotor are arranged at a radially outer side of a magnetic modulation rotor. The stator and the field rotor are arranged in series in an axial direction of the motor. This structure increases an amount of a winding coil of the stator and magnets in the field rotor, and an output torque of the motor. When a field magnetic flux passes through soft magnetic material members in the magnetic modulation rotor, because the generation and the reception of the magnetic flux can occur at a radially same side of the magnetic modulation rotor, this structure cancels an eddy current generated in the soft magnetic members and supporting members made of non-magnetic metal which tightly support the soft magnetic member.
