Abstract: A patient monitoring system having a motion detection unit with a sensor and a control unit having control circuitry and at least one light. Wiring extends between the two units and couples a motion sensor with the control circuitry. A door sensor is coupled with the control circuitry. The light is illuminated to provide a silent alarm when motion is detected and the door is closed. Also disclosed is a method of installation that includes attaching a motion detector unit and the control unit to wall surfaces on opposite sides of the door and extending wiring through the doorway to operably couple the two units. The motion sensor may be installed to define a detection zone having a lower boundary which is at least about 18 inches above a patient support surface.

  • Patent number: 8816872
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for monitoring the productivity, operability, and safety conditions of factory machinery and particularly unitizers. The system monitors factory machines such as a unitizer in a corrugated box factory, using one or more sensors to determine whether and how efficiently the machinery is operating, to determine if any conditions of the machinery require immediate attention, and to determine if a safety violation has occurred with respect to the machinery. The system appropriately notifies a factory manager of issues that arise. In addition, the system aggregates data about past performance and safety violations and generates reports about the aggregated data to help factory managers maximize productivity of the monitored machinery. The disclosed system is particularly advantageous in that it enables improvement of the productivity of the factory as a whole.

Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting an issue with a message flow between two or more data systems. In an embodiment, at a first time, a number of first request messages and a number of first response messages transmitted or received during a first look-back period are determined. A first ratio is calculated based on these numbers and compared to an alerting threshold. If the first ratio is less than the alerting threshold, an alert is generated. Then, at a second time, a number of second request messages and a number of second response messages transmitted or received during a second look-back period are determined. A second ratio is calculated based on these numbers and compared to a clearing threshold. Based on this comparison, it is determined whether to maintain or clear the alert.
