Abstract: In embodiments, a computer-implemented method may entail receiving a search request. A first data store and a second data store, that contains data archived from the first data store, may be identified. Data from the first data store may remain available in the first data store for a limited period of time once archived to the second data store. The first data store storing data in a first format and the second data store storing data in a second format, the first format and the second format being different from one another. Determining that a subset of data that has been archived into the second data store and is to be searched as part of the search request is still available from the first data store, and executing the search request on the subset of data utilizing the first data store. Additional embodiments are described and/or claimed.

Abstract: A single content region in a chat history display is used to display entries representative of a plurality of messages corresponding to all chat histories for all of chat threads currently engaged in by a given mobile terminal. Additionally, a buddy list display supports management of chat buddies, a detail view display allows otherwise truncated messages to be displayed, and a text message editor display supports the composition of text messages. Each chat user may designate public display identifiers for purposes of identification to other chat users. Additionally, each user may designate private display identifiers for each of his/her buddies, which private display identifiers may be used to replace the public display identifiers for that user's buddies when displayed on the user's mobile terminal. In this manner, the use of speech and text based group chatting and similar services in wireless communication environments is more readily enabled.

Abstract: A process is directed to the generation, maintenance, and provision of narrations for requested network content. A client computing device transmits a narration of a network resource, such as a web page, to a network computing provider. The narration can be separated into portions, each portion corresponding to a portion of the network resource. A second client computing device can request the network resource and the narration. The network computing provider can determine whether there has been any change in the requested network resource since the narration was received, and can modify the narration provided to the second client computing device accordingly. The second client computing device can playback appropriate portions of the narration while still being capable of regular interaction with the requested network resource.

Abstract: The presently disclosed subject matter includes a system and method for managing interactions between two or more users. In response to a request of a caller to establish an interaction with one or more recipients, the preferences of the caller and the recipients are considered in a process which determines which interaction application is recommended to be used in the requested interaction. A user can be associated with a respective user profile which includes information with respect to the user's communication preferences. The recommendation is generated based on preferences of the users participating in the interaction. In case a conflict is identified between the preferences of different users which are about to participate in the interaction, an arbitration process is executed in which the conflict is resolved.

Abstract: A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes analyzing characteristics of traffic associated with an application in a data communications network; defining each of a plurality of Access Point Names (“APNs”) for terminating traffic in the data communications network; comparing the application traffic characteristics with the APNs; and selecting one of the APNs based on results of the comparing, in which the selected one of the APNs is assigned to terminate the application traffic. In some embodiments, the application traffic characteristics include at least one of average data packet size, average uplink traffic volume, average downlink traffic volume, triggering traffic data generation, and session frequency. The method may further include periodically re-comparing the application traffic characteristics with the APNs and selecting a different one of the APNs based on results of the recomparing to terminate the application traffic.

Abstract: A playback control device includes an identification part configured to identify one of communication terminals based on identification data associated with a request to play session data including at least one of image data and sound data; a first acquisition part configured to acquire session data which has been communicated in a session in which the communication terminals have joined; a second acquisition part configured to acquire, in response to the identification data, time data representing at least a time period in which the identified communication terminal had joined the session; and a control part configured to, in response to the time data, allow playing of the session data for the time period in which the identified communication terminal had joined the session and disallow playing of the session data for the time period in which the identified communication terminal had not joined the session.

Abstract: Systems and processes are disclosed for discovering trending terms in automatic speech recognition. Candidate terms (e.g., words, phrases, etc.) not yet found in a speech recognizer vocabulary or having low language model probability can be identified based on trending usage in a variety of electronic data sources (e.g., social network feeds, news sources, search queries, etc.). When candidate terms are identified, archives of live or recent speech traffic can be searched to determine whether users are uttering the candidate terms in dictation or speech requests. Such searching can be done using open vocabulary spoken term detection to find phonetic matches in the audio archives. As the candidate terms are found in the speech traffic, notifications can be generated that identify the candidate terms, provide relevant usage statistics, identify the context in which the terms are used, and the like.

Abstract: A technique for obtaining caller-originated alert signals in IP-based communication sessions is disclosed. According to one embodiment, the technique may be realized as a method comprising the steps of: receiving, from a first user equipment and via a first communication channel, a request to initiate a communication session, the request being received at a second user equipment; in response to the request, causing a phonepage server to transmit, via a second communication channel, a caller-originated alert to the second user equipment; and rendering the caller-originated alert to alert a user associated with the second user equipment.

Abstract: The voice recognition processing apparatus includes a voice acquirer, a first voice recognizer, a storage device, and a recognition result determiner. The voice acquirer acquires a user's voice, and outputs voice information. The first voice recognizer converts the voice information into first information. The storage device previously stores a dictionary in which an exclusion vocabulary is registered. The recognition result determiner compares the first information with the exclusion vocabulary to determine whether the first information includes a word that agrees with a word included in the exclusion vocabulary. The recognition result determiner determines that the first information is information to be rejected, when the first information includes the word that agrees with a word included in the exclusion vocabulary, and determines that the first information is information to be executed, when the first information does not include the word that agrees with a word included in the exclusion vocabulary.

Abstract: In certain cellular communication systems, a roaming communication device may attempt to establish a connection with a visited wireless communication network. Before allowing the connection, the visited network may check to see whether the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) of the device has been listed in an Equipment Identity Register (EIR) as being blocked, and may refuse the connection if the IMEI is listed as being blocked. In addition, when the home network of the device receives a request to authorize usage of the device, the home network may also check its own EIR to determine whether the IMEI has been blocked. If the IMEI has been blocked in the EIR of the home network, the home network indicates to the visited network that the connection should be refused.

Abstract: A method is provided of initiating communications, comprising: storing, in a memory at a messaging server, a plurality of subscriber records, each subscriber record containing a subscriber identifier and a subscriber type indicator; a first subset of the subscriber records having a first subscriber type indicator, and a second subset of the subscriber records having a second subscriber type indicator; determining, at the messaging server, whether to generate initiation data; when the determination is affirmative: selecting at least one of the second subset of the subscriber records; generating the initiation data, the initiation data including at least the subscriber identifier of the selected subscriber record; and transmitting the initiation data to a computing device corresponding to at least one of the first subset of subscriber records.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for distributing phone calls includes the steps of receiving an inquiry from an individual having caller identification information, determining a call time to call the individual, generating a text message in response to receiving the inquiry, where the text message includes the call time and service provider information and the service provider information includes a service provider telephone number, automatically transmitting the text message to the individual from the service provider prior to the call time, and automatically initiating a phone call to the individual at the call time from the service provider telephone number. A system and computer-readable medium are also disclosed.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for identifying call recordings for retention is provided. A call is received into a call center and assigned to one of an agent and an interactive voice response device. A recording of the assigned call is generated. A set of call retention criteria is maintained and each of the retention criteria is associated with one or more time periods during which the criteria can be applied to the call recording. A portion of the criteria in the set is identified based on a time at which the criteria is to be applied to the call recording. The identified criteria is applied to the call recording and the call recording is stored when the applied criteria are satisfied.

Abstract: The systems and methods are directed towards embodiments for implementing an interactive voice response (IVR) system with the voicemail system. The combination of the two systems would allow the recipient to listen to a recorded voicemail message and receive associated IVR commands that can be provided by the sender. The IVR commands allow the sender to generate customized IVR commands that provides different types of rich media based information (e.g., hyperlinks, video files, audio files) based on the sender input. Other systems and methods are also directed towards embedding active content (i.e. rich media based content) into documents.

Abstract: A voice retrieval apparatus includes a display, a memory, and a processor executing a voice recording process of storing recorded voices in the memory, an accepting process of accepting a retrieval term, a retrieval process of retrieving, from the recorded voices, a candidate segment where an utterance of the accepted retrieval term is estimated, a replay process of replaying voices in the candidate segment retrieved in the retrieval process, and a display control process of adding a marking to display information indicating a transition of the recorded voices in time based on the replay result of the voices in the candidate segment in the replay process, and displaying the display information with the marking on the display, the marking specifying an utterance location of the voices in the candidate segment.

Abstract: A user has access to first and second telephony services. A call setup request directed to a first telephony party identifier associated with the first service is received from a caller and it is determined that the user is not available via the first service. A call setup request is transmitted to a telephony service destination associated with the second service to establish a telephony session between the caller and the destination. Media data transmitted during the session is caused to be captured using a media capture device intermediate the caller and the destination. The captured media data or media data derived therefrom is stored in a media data store so that the user can access the media data after the end of the session to determine what media data was transmitted during the session. The stored media data or media data derived therefrom is made accessible by the user.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed that enable an email service provider to implement an email forwarding service without losing associated page views. In one embodiment, rather than forwarding the entire email message, the email forwarding service generates a summary email message, and sends this summary email message to the forwarding email address pre-specified by the subscriber. This summary email message includes a link that is selectable by the user to view the original email message on a web site of the email service provider. Thus, even if the forwarding email address is hosted externally, the subscriber still views the full email message on a web site of the provider of the email forwarding service.

Abstract: An apparatus and method directed to automated call screening, and specifically the utilization of location history of a call recipient to determine call authorization, are provided. In accordance with an exemplary embodiment, a computer readable medium embodied in an article of manufacture is encoded with instructions for directing a processor to receive a request from a first device to communicate with a second device. The processor is further directed to determine at least one location associated with the first device, determine an authorization for the request based at least in part upon the at least one location associated with the first device and at least one prior location of the second device, and transmit the request to the second device in accordance with the authorization.

Abstract: An inmate communication system is configured to manage the sending and receiving of messages on a messaging service between an inmate incarcerated in a correctional institution and other inmates, or between the inmate and a contact located outside of the facility. Example messaging services include SMS and MMS. Inmates are provided access to a messaging terminal. The inmates interact with the messaging terminal to compose messages for transmission and view received message transmissions. The message communications of the inmates and contacts are analyzed prior to transmission to the recipient. Message contents are analyzed for flagged key-words and flagged sender/recipients. Flagged messages may be placed in an approval queue prior to their delivery for approval or rejection.

Abstract: A network method for using a network telephone voice-mail service, by which a caller may leave a voice-message that includes the identification of an attachment, which may include, as examples only, audio, video, text, programs, spreadsheets and graphic attachments. A video, text, spreadsheet or graphic attachment may be converted to an audible attachment to the voice-mail at the caller's or the voice-mail subscriber's request. Such entries may be made, after receiving an automated prompt for leaving an attachment identifier or conversion request, audibly or by using a keypad entry. A network method is also provided for using a network telephone voice-mail service, by which the voice-mail service may detect an attachment to a voice-mail message and provide access to the attachment to the voice-mail message.

Abstract: Disclosed is a multi-mode communication notification system and method for improving communication between an inmate and a third party by enabling a third party to send a web-initiated contact request for a specific inmate and further allowing the inmate to check his/her contact requests or be automatically notified of contact requests. Additionally, the system electronically notifies the third party when the specific inmate has been notified of the contact request. Further, the system notifies the third party if they have missed a call from the specific inmate.

Abstract: Techniques are described for determining and using information related to domains of interest, such as by automatically analyzing documents and other information related to a domain in order to automatically determine relationships between particular terms within the domain. Such automatically determined information may then be used to assist users in obtaining information from the domain that is of interest (e.g., documents with contents that are relevant to user-specified terms and/or to other terms that are determined to be sufficiently related to the user-specified terms). For example, recommendations may be automatically generated for a user by using information about specified preferences or other interests of the user with respect to one or more terms and identifying other particular terms that are sufficiently probable to be of interest to that user, such as based on a generated probabilistic representation of relationships between particular terms for the domain.

In some implementations, systems and methods of this disclosure enable a recipient of the augmented first message to rate the first message on its genuineness and to provide a predefined or custom explanation of the recipient's rating. Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of configuring a network connectivity device comprises receiving a network association request from a prospective client device requesting access to a network and sending an alert signal to a control device to cause the control device to emit an audible signal indicative of a network association request from a prospective client device. A prompt message is sent to the control device to cause the control device to provide instructions on providing feedback to the network connectivity device. The network connectivity device receives feedback from the control device and permits or denies access to the network responsive to the feedback from the control device.

Abstract: Establishing the likely duration and precision with which the post was written is disclosed. An analysis may be used to infer how confident the user is of the subject matter they are writing. A user's post (e.g., response, comment for, but not limited to, a thread, blog, community) may be monitored and its subject matter analyzed to determine benchmark style and speed with which a user can comment.

Abstract: A system and method are presented for language specific routing. Language assignment may be used to efficiently route inbound interactions in a contact center. The inbound interaction's original location may be determined and assigned a language based on the location of the interaction. The interaction is assigned a language tag that can be referenced throughout routing. The interaction may be routed to the appropriate endpoints within the system based on the language tag.

Abstract: An apparatus for permitting a pharmacist to verify a refill of a filled prescription stored on a host system. A prescription refill screen is provided by the host system to a pharmacy system associated with the pharmacist. The prescription refill screen is associated with the filled prescription. Refill request information is received from the pharmacy system. The refill request information identifying a requested refill of the filled prescription. The refill request information is transmitted through the host system to a health care provider system associated with a health care provider identified by the filled prescription stored on the host system. The host system receives an authorization from the health care provider system authorizing the requested refill of the filled prescription. The host system transmits authorization to the pharmacy system whereby the pharmacist associated with the pharmacy system is authorized to provide the refill of the filled prescription to the patient.

Abstract: Systems and methods for recording full quality audio and/or video from a plurality of parties, while also facilitating a real-time conversation or other interaction over low-bandwidth network links are provided. A voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) conversation, or other type of session, is facilitated between two or more parties using methods that reduce sound or video quality to achieve a low-latency connection. During the VoIP conversation, or other type of session, the audio and/or video from each party is recorded directly onto a storage medium of their respective device and stored as one or more data files. These data files can be generally unmodified, or merely lightly modified or compressed, resulting in a higher quality recording of the audio and/or video as compared to the audio and/or video that was transmitted to the other party during the session. The data files are then merged to create a final merged high-quality composite recording of the session.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods concerning routing of calls in an IPBX server are disclosed. As an example, one apparatus includes a first processing circuit communicatively coupled to an IPBX server. The IPBX server is configured to route VoIP calls for a plurality of end-users having respective VoIP-enabled devices and generate call event messages for the routed calls. The first processing circuit is configured to generate call summary metrics from the call event messages. The call summary metrics indicate respective sets of call data for participants of the calls routed by the IPBX server. A second processing circuit is configured to evaluate the call summary metrics to identify a set of incoming calls to the IPBX that were missed and have not been returned by the end-users. The second processing circuit is further configured to cross-correlate the identified set of incoming calls with a secondary data source to determine a respective priorities for the set of incoming calls.

The method includes loading, by the computing device, into a queue associated with the announcement session, a descriptor referencing a memory buffer on the computing device. The memory buffer includes a plurality of memory partitions, each memory partition storing at least one portion of the announcement message encoded at a different rate. The method includes the computing device scheduling play back of the announcement message, playing the announcement message to the user device at a first rate and receiving a request from the user device for playback at a second rate.

Abstract: A communication system transfers user data messages to users. The system stores the user data messages in association with message stream identifiers and message delivery metrics. The system processes the message delivery metrics to enter the user data messages into a plurality of delivery queues associated with multiple message transmission systems. The system receives a data request indicating a message stream identifier and a message transmission system, and in response, identifies a message set and associated delivery metrics. The system receives a data instruction indicating new delivery metrics, and in response, re-enters the message set into the delivery queue. The communication system transfers the user data messages based on their associated delivery queues over data networks for receipt by the users.

Abstract: A messaging system for providing messaging service between or among user accounts includes a message database server. The message database server includes an account module to maintain user accounts and an upload module to receive message data from a user communication device associated with a user account. The message data may include a message and a share list that authorizes identified user accounts in which the message is to be shared. A single instance storage module may store the message as a single instance. A share module may share the message with the identified user accounts and delete the message at a predetermined time as specified in the share list.

Abstract: A unified messaging system for an enterprise includes a messaging module operable to store a message sent by a first user to a second user in a first media type, and to deliver the message to the second user in either the first type or a second media type. A natural language speech parsing (NLSP) module coupled with the messaging module is operable to detect an actionable item contained within the message, the messaging module dynamically modifying a response menu to include an option corresponding to the actionable item, and then presenting the modified response menu to the second user concurrent with or following delivery of the message. Abstract: Systems and methods for an offline voicemail recording system are provided. A voicemail server establishes a session with a caller responsive to detecting the unavailability of a callee. Session information is transmitted to the caller and the voicemail server then purposely terminates the session with the caller. The caller can record a voice or video message offline, without an active connection to the voicemail server, and later upload the recorded message. The voicemail server correlates the uploaded message with the previously terminated session and notifies the callee of the receipt of the message.
