  • Patent number: 9974942
Abstract: This disclosure relates to fluid line sets and related methods. In certain aspects, the fluid line sets include a vial adapter connected to a first end of a fluid line, and a cap removably attached to a second end of the fluid line such that the cap seals the second end of the fluid line. The vial adapter includes a base, a spike extending from a central region of the base, and a sidewall extending from the base and substantially surrounding the spike. The base and the side wall at least partially define a cavity configured to receive a portion of a vial. The cap includes a deformable portion at least partially defining a gas chamber, and the cap is configured so that deformation of the deformable portion causes gas to be forced from the gas chamber to the vial adapter via the fluid line.

  • Patent number: 9833578
Abstract: A medicament delivery device includes a distal housing part; a proximal housing part for a container; a drive mechanism in the distal housing part that includes a plunger rod; and an auto mixing mechanism. The housing parts are movable from a first position, in which the housing parts are partially extended relative to each other, to a second position, in which the housing parts are partially retracted relative to each other. The auto mixing mechanism is configured to hold the housing parts in the first position and to lock the housing parts in the second position, and includes a mixing force member operably arranged between the housing parts such that manual activation of the auto mixing mechanism enables the mixing force member to cause the housing parts to move from the first position to the second position. The plunger rod acts to mixing a medicament in the container.

  • Patent number: 9662451
Abstract: A device useful for making retrobulbar injections includes an inner syringe contained within an outer syringe. A spring retained within the outer syringe biases the inner syringe proximally, which a catch mechanism on the two syringes prevents the inner syringe from moving out of the outer syringe. A distal needle on the inner syringe is movable within a distal sheath of the outer syringe, and can be extended beyond the distal end of the sheath to permit the device to piece more resilient tissues, and can be withdrawn by action of the spring within the sheath to protect more delicate tissues from the needle.

  • Patent number: 9511118
Abstract: A sub-atmospheric, negative pressure is applied to a growth factor starting material, such as whole blood, to release growth factors and plasma in a non-destructive medium. The released growth factors having a weight of about 70-76 kDaltons are applied in either a filtered or unfiltered state to a wound to promote healing of the wound. The released growth factors are applied topically to the area of a surface wound to effect healing. The released growth factors are also injected into soft tissue, such as a torn tendon, to promote tissue growth and healing. The growth factors are released in one method from a patient's own blood. In another method the growth factors are released from a whole blood source and freeze dried by conventional lyophilization. Then at a later date, the freeze dried product is reconstituted by normal saline for treatment of a patient's wound or for use in a surgical procedure.
