  • Patent number: 10026131
Abstract: A system estimates the speed of a moving vehicle and hence the driving behavior of an individual driving the vehicle using accelerometer data. To do so, the system analyzes received accelerometer data to find idling points when the vehicle is not moving during a driving session. Based on the idling points, the system may divide the driving session into two or more segments. The system may then determine the speed of the vehicle at one or more boundary points of each segment. For each segment, the system may analyze the accelerometer data to determine the acceleration of the vehicle for points when the vehicle is moving. Subsequently, the system may calculate the speed of the vehicle for the points when the vehicle is moving based on the acceleration of the vehicle at the points when the vehicle is moving and the speed of the vehicle at the boundary points.

Abstract: The article transport vehicles are equipped with wireless tags that transmit tag information, and an article transport facility includes: a transport control apparatus that controls the entrance of the vehicles into the control area such that the number of vehicles that are present in one control area is no greater than a control number; a plurality of access points; and a position detection apparatus that detects the respective positions of the vehicles with an accuracy with which a plurality of positions in the control area are distinguishable, based on the same tag information that has been received by the access points. The transport control apparatus permits a number of vehicles, the number being greater than the control number, to enter the control area if a predetermined permission condition is satisfied, based on the positional information that indicates the position of each vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9736295
Abstract: In an aspect of embodiments, a mobile electronic device includes a storage, a display, an atmospheric pressure measurement module, a determinator, and a position corrector. The storage stores a floor map for each of floors in a building. The display displays a current position of an own device in the floor on the floor map. The atmospheric pressure measurement module measures atmospheric pressure acting on the own device. The determinator determines whether the own device is moving between the floors based on a change in the atmospheric pressure. The position corrector corrects the current position of the own device to be displayed on the floor map when the determinator determines that the own device is moving between the floors.

  • Patent number: 9697426
Abstract: A method of encoding a continuous path within a road network is described, the path being completely represented within a digital map and expressible as a path list of lines and/or segments existing in said digital map and consecutively ordered, wherein said lines and/or segments have one or more attributes associated therewith. The method involves storing a start position in a route search list, and determining a path from the start node of the start position and including said start position to an end node of the last line or segment in the path list within said digital map. The path is determined according to an algorithm utilizing an attribute of said lines or segments. The attribute may be a lowest functional road class (LFRC) of the path to be encoded or a part thereof.

Abstract: A portable navigation module and its method of operation are disclosed for seamlessly providing navigation and positioning information to a user. The module comprises: means, such as a GPS receiver, for receiving a first set of navigational information from an external source, such as satellites; and an inertial sensor unit for generating a second set of navigational information at the module. The navigational information is used by a processor programmed with a core algorithm, to identify the mode of conveyance algorithm and an orientation or misalignment algorithm. The algorithm utilizes the navigational information, aided by the mode of conveyance information and the orientation information, to produce a filtered navigation solution (which comprises position, velocity and attitude). The solution is suitably displayed, preferably on a detachable display unit.
