Abstract: Provided is a display device for providing a media resource. The display device includes a communicator and a controller. The communicator collects background media resource database (DB) information. The controller extracts text information from each of media resources included in a background media resource DB, acquires one or more feature words based on the extracted text information, generates a feature word weight matrix of the background media resource DB which includes a respective weight of each acquired feature word, calculates a clustering similarity between each media resource included in the background media resource DB and a current media resource, which is being watched by a user, by using the feature word weight matrix, and provides a media resource recommendation list which includes one or more media resources based on the clustering similarity.

Photovoltaic power simulation requires irradiance data. Photovoltaic energy simulation requires normalized irradiation data. Normalized irradiation is not always available, such as in photovoltaic plant installations where only point measurements of irradiance are sporadically collected or even entirely absent. Normalized irradiation can be estimated through several methodologies, including assuming that normalized irradiation simply equals irradiance, directly estimating normalized irradiation, applying linear interpolation to irradiance, applying linear interpolation to clearness index values, and empirically deriving irradiance weights. The normalized irradiation can then be used to forecast photovoltaic fleet energy production.

Abstract: Method and system for 3-D imaging of subterranean geologic structures based on seismic data interpretations involves converting multi-Z polylines into single-Z line segments. The single-Z line segments have slopes that are either positive or negative and do not change signs. As a result, no point along the line segment has more than one value in Z. The single-Z line segments may then be grouped or assembled into lattices that may then be used to form single-z horizons. • Patent number: 9026394
Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to the automated testing of a system that includes software or hardware components. In some embodiments, a testing framework generates a set of test cases for a system under test using a grammar. Each test case may perform an action, such as provide an input to the system under test, and result in an output from the system under test. The inputs and outputs are then compared to the expected results to determine whether the system under test is performing correctly. The data can then be interpreted in the grammar system or used as input to a fault isolation engine to determine anomalies in the system under test. Based on identified faults, one or more mitigation techniques may be implemented in an automated fashion.

  • Patent number: 9020869
Abstract: An RF fingerprinting methodology is generalized to include non-RF related factors. For each fingerprinted tile, there is an associated distance function between two fingerprints (the training fingerprint and the test fingerprint) from within that tile which may be a linear or non-linear combination of the deltas between multiple factors of the two fingerprints. The distance function for each tile is derived from a training dataset corresponding to that specific tile, and optimized to minimize the total difference between real distances and predicted distances. Upon receipt of an inference request, a result is derived from a combination of the fingerprints from the training dataset having the least distance per application of the distance function. Likely error for the tile is also determined to ascertain whether to rely on other location methods.

Abstract: A preservation system for storage and logistic transport of nutritional substances. The preservation system obtains information about the nutritional substance to be preserved, senses and measures the external environment to the preservation system, senses and measures the internal environment to the preservation system, senses and measures the state of the nutritional substance, and stores such information throughout the period of preservation. Using this accumulated information, the preservation system can measure, or estimate, changes in nutritional content (usually degradation) during the period of preservation. Additionally, the preservation system can use this information to dynamically modify the preservation system to minimize detrimental changes to the nutritional content of the nutritional substance, and in some cases actually improve the nutritional substance attributes.

Abstract: Characteristics of a book are determined. A plurality of maximum-likelihood dates associated with text pages within the book is accessed. A maximum-likelihood date for a text page indicates a time period during which that text page was most likely to have been written. The plurality of maximum-likelihood dates is ordered according to the maximum-likelihood dates' associated text pages, from a first text page for which a maximum-likelihood date is available to a last text page for which a maximum-likelihood date is available. The ordered plurality of maximum-likelihood dates is analyzed according to a heuristic to determine characteristics of the book.

  • Patent number: 8983785
Abstract: A method and system for displaying waveforms generated from input signals received at a common input channel (CIC) of a data acquisition (DAQ) device. An input signal received at the CIC can be displayed as a present-time waveform, and while the input signal is displayed as a present-time waveform, the input signal can be tagged for displaying the input signal as a historical waveform for the CIC. After receiving another input signal at the CIC, a display can be refreshed to display, simultaneously, the historical waveform for the CIC and the other input signal as another present-time waveform for the CIC. The DAQ device can tag the displayed input signal in response to a user pushing a selector device on the DAQ device. The display can display other present-time waveforms with the historical waveform to allow a user to compare input signals received at the CIC.

  • Patent number: 8977501
Abstract: Provided are a system and method for identifying planned markers while drilling a borehole. In one example, the method includes obtaining a plan containing planned markers that each corresponds to a baseline marker from an existing well. Each of the baseline markers corresponds to a waveform from a log file obtained from the existing well and is associated with a waveform representation of the corresponding waveform. Each of the planned markers is associated with an estimated true vertical depth (TVD) value. A second log file corresponding to the borehole is obtained that contains waveforms representing formation information detected within the borehole. The second log file is scanned for a planned marker based on the estimated TVD value and the waveform representation of the baseline marker corresponding to the planned marker. At least one match may be identified and reported for the planned marker.

  • Patent number: 8972191
Abstract: Phase sensitive X-ray imaging methods provide substantially increased contrast over conventional absorption based imaging, and therefore new and otherwise inaccessible information. The use of gratings as optical elements in hard X-ray phase imaging overcomes some of the problems impairing the wider use of phase contrast in X-ray radiography and tomography. To separate the phase information from other contributions detected with a grating interferometer, a phase-stepping approach has been considered, which implies the acquisition of multiple radiographic projections. Here, an innovative, highly sensitive X-ray tomographic phase contrast imaging approach is presented based on grating interferometry, which extracts the phase contrast signal without the need of phase stepping. Compared to the existing phase step approach, the main advantage of this new method dubbed “reverse projection” is the significantly reduced delivered dose, without degradation of the image quality.
