Abstract: The interactive grouping tool offers the flexibility to simplify the schematic diagram of an integrated circuit (IC) design by grouping circuit elements that are not specified to be of interest into entities of any size. Circuit elements of various types and functionalities, including ports and pins, can be combined together into the same entity without modifying the underlying design logic and connectivity. By grouping and hiding the unnecessary details, the tool reduces clutter in a schematic diagram and greatly eases the process of traversing, debugging, and analyzing the schematic diagram. Users can choose to dynamically group the circuit elements on the schematic diagram without going through any compilation or synthesis process. Users can also choose to revert any of the entities back to the original schematic diagram with the ungrouping operation. For specific or batch manipulation of the schematic diagram, the tool provides a scripting interface for users to enter commands.

Abstract: A method for generating a layout for a cell of an integrated circuit (IC) guided by design rule checking (DRC) is disclosed. In the method, a model is defined, wherein the model comprises a plurality of parameters for generating a layout of the cell. Next an initial layout for the cell can be generated according to an initial set of values for the plurality of parameters. Then design rule checking (DRC) is performed for the initial layout based on a set of design rules. If any violations are found, the corresponding violation reports will be associated with the model. Therefore, a new set of values for the plurality of parameters can be generated by analyzing the violation reports collectively based on the model. With the new set of values for the plurality of parameters and above steps repeated, until no violation is found, a “DRC clean” layout can be generated.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for verifying and debugging a circuit design module of a high level programming system is disclosed herein. A circuit design created in a high level programming environment must undergo a number of transformations as it is compiled into a form that can be realized in hardware. At each transformative step, the behavior of the circuit must be verified with a simulation model and debugged if the transformation has changed the behavior of the circuit. The claimed invention presents a novel approach for verifying and debugging between different simulation models and achieves an advance in the art by utilizing the modularized structure of a high-level circuit design to systematically identify simulation mismatches among different simulation models and determine which portions of the circuit design are responsible for the discrepancy.

  • Patent number: 8855980
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to an antenna builder and a method of building and maintaining an antenna design repository. A first embodiment consists of an antenna builder that enables the creation of an antenna representation that can subsequently be output into a plurality of formats to be used by other tools, such as electromagnetic simulation software. An alternative embodiment is directed to a method of building and maintaining a repository of antenna designs. The repository of antenna designs can be queried, enabling a plurality of users to search for specific antenna designs. Alternative embodiments can enable a user to search the repository antenna designs by visually browsing over the antenna designs in the repository. The repository of antenna designs is created by saving solutions generated by an optimizer during an optimization run to the repository. Solutions from the repository can also be used to seed and bootstrap other optimization runs.

  • Patent number: 8849644
Abstract: In one embodiment, a plurality of kernels are provided. Each kernel may simulate a partition of a design under test. A plurality of event regions are provided. The regions may be in an ordered priority. Events for the device under test may be determined for event regions in each of the kernels. An event region to execute events in is then determined and all kernels may execute events in the same event region. Kernels then execute events for the determined event region. When finished executing events in an event queue, data synchronization may occur. In this case, information may be synced among kernels, such as status and state values for shared objected are synchronized.

  • Patent number: 8850372
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of invariant-guided abstraction includes a processor of a computing device generating one or more invariants corresponding to a design under verification by executing a proof algorithm with an input comprising at least a portion of the design and a specified resource limit. The method further includes deterministically assigning priority information to the one or more invariants generated and to components of the design referenced by said invariants. Finally, the method includes performing invariant-guided localization abstraction on the design model to generate an abstracted design model utilizing the assigned priority information as a localization hint that results in abstractions that are at least one of (a) smaller abstractions and (b) easier to verify abstractions.

  • Patent number: 8843357
Abstract: An electrical connection defect simulation test method is provided. The electrical connection state simulation test method includes the steps as follows. A device under test is provided, wherein the device under test includes a plurality of pin groups each having a plurality of signal pins. A zero-frequency signal is transmitted from a signal-feeding device to each of the signal pins to simulate an open condition. An open test is performed on each of the signal pins. The signal pins of the device under test are connected to a relay matrix. The relay matrix is controlled to make any two of the signal pins in one of the pin groups electrically connected to simulate a short condition. A short test is performed on any two of the electrically connected signal pins. An electrical connection state simulation test system is disclosed herein as well.

  • Publication number: 20140278327
Abstract: A system for creating an energy performance and predictive model. The system includes a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium which performs the steps obtaining parametric information objects that represent actual physical objects and modifying the parametric information objects by embedding data related to energy performance characteristics unique to the device represented. The system further performs the steps grouping the modified parametric information objects that define actual real world interrelationships to create a complete virtualized project and parsing the virtualized model data set to create a first parsed data set and a second parsed data set. The first parsed data set creates the project system control application, which acts upon and coordinates the actions of the real device through the virtual field bus.
