Abstract: A method of verifying operation of an oscillator includes performing a Monte-Carlo simulation with respect to points in an initial-conditions space, and then judging whether a frequency error exists. An oscillation error is determined to exist when the frequency error exists. Additional operations include determining a point at which a probability of having a settling time longer than a maximum value, of a settling time obtained up to a present time, is maximum when the frequency error does not exist. The Monte-Carlo simulation is then performed on the determined point to judge whether the frequency error exists.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a semiconductor sensor reliability system and method. Specifically, the present invention provides in-situ positioning of a reliability sensor (hereinafter sensors) within each functional block, as well as at critical locations, of a semiconductor system. The quantity and location of the sensors are optimized to have maximum sensitivity to known process variations. In general, the sensor models a behavior (e.g., aging process) of the location (e.g., functional block) in which it is positioned and comprises a plurality of stages connected as a network and a self-digitizer. Each sensor has a mode selection input for selecting a mode thereof and an operational trigger input for enabling the sensor to model the behavior. The model selection input and operation trigger enable the sensor to have an operational mode in which the plurality of sensors are subject to an aging process, as well as a measurement mode in which an age of the plurality of sensors is outputted.

The verification of an automation system for performing such a test and the final result of such a test is a complex and time-consuming procedure, however. So as not to have to repeat the complex verification in the case of changes in the automation system, it is proposed that the correctness of a test run only be checked once and in the case of established correctness, the reference data defining the test run be stored as the reference standard. If a change is performed in the automation system, it is sufficient to perform the test run again and to compare the reference data of the reference standard to the new reference data.

Abstract: A method for dynamic load balancing of a mesh, wherein the mesh is partitioned to find a solution using a plurality of processors, and wherein the partitions have become unbalanced. The present method allows large portions of the mesh to continue to progress towards a solution by only repartitioning a small percentage of the overall mesh. This is done by stripping cells along the partition interfaces using a marching method to form a free-cell region, repartitioning the free-cell region, and joining the repartitioned portions of the free-cell region with the remaining cells in a manner that will increase the efficiency of the solver.

Abstract: A system and method of testing, during development, the operation of a clustered storage server system and its associated storage operating system. The system includes at least one host computer having a host operating system, and at least one virtual computer having a simulated storage operating system, at least one simulated disk, a simulated NVRAM, and a simulated flashcard within a guest operating system hosted by the host operating system. The simulated storage operating system represents an actual storage operating system. Facilities of the simulated storage operating system including the simulated disk, the simulated NVRAM, and the simulated flashcard are mapped onto corresponding facilities of the host operating system via virtualization components of the virtual computer so that the simulated storage operating system operates substantially the same as the actual storage operating system on low cost host hardware platforms.

  • Publication number: 20150061961
Abstract: Disclosed is an antenna system and method to design a desensitized antenna element. The system and method are operative to design a configuration of an antenna to overcome a number of operational conditions in which the frequency response of the antenna element may be uniquely or significantly detuned or offset or in which undesired noise, signal interference, or electromagnetic coupling effects may affect or be induced by the antenna element. These operational conditions may include the presence of any combination of user body parts, conductive materials, or dielectric materials as well as neighboring electronic systems or other sources of undesired noise, signal interference, and electromagnetic coupling. The system is designed to mitigate adverse effects, when operating in a potentially antenna-detuning environment or under conditions that may affect other systems or be susceptible to being affected by other sources, by using a desensitizer element comprising at least one electrical circuit component.

Abstract: A method for designing a system of electrical wirings for a complex system, in particular applicable to the design of electrical wirings of an aircraft, is provided. The electrical wirings allow the flow of digital, analog or discrete data between the components of the complex system and/or the transmission of electricity to components of the complex system, the components of the complex system being grouped together in subsystems, each able to perform a predetermined function, and able to be broken down into subsystems each capable of performing a predetermined sub-function. The wirings are distributed into functional groups such that all of the wirings allowing the flow of one or more data and/or the transmission of electricity, directly or indirectly necessary for the operation of the components of a subsystem, for performing the corresponding function or sub-function are distributed in a single and same functional group.

  • Patent number: 8972236
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for performing a real-time, in-the-field switching-sequence simulation for a power system that includes a plurality of switching devices. During operation, the system receives, at a hand-held device, topology information associated with the power system, a set of user-definable rules, and a request to perform an operation on a switching device in the power system. In response to the request, the system identifies the switching device from the plurality of switching devices, obtains instant status information associated with the plurality of switching devices, and runs a simulation based on the topology information, the user-definable rules, the status information, and the identified switch device. The system determines whether the operation is allowed based on an outcome of the simulation.

  • Patent number: 8972237
Abstract: A state (i.e., ket) of a set of qubits may be simulated via a classical computer. Ordering characteristics of the ket (i.e., the “current” permutation associated with the state) may be determined. An operator (which may be associated with a certain operation to perform on the ket) may be defined and simulated. Ordering characteristics of the operator (i.e., the “current” permutation associated with operator) may be determined. If the current permutations of the state and operator match, then the operation may be performed to generate a new ket. Alternatively, the operator may be permuted to match the permutation of the current state. Or the state may be permuted to match the current operator permutation. The operation may then be performed, and the state and permutation remembered for the next operation. The process may be repeated for each operation in the series.
