Abstract: An integral sensor system is provided. In one embodiment, the system includes a sensor installed in a carrier and a component having a body for receiving a fluid. The carrier is integrated into the component to enable the sensor to detect one or more characteristics of the fluid, and the carrier is integrated into the component such that an interface between the carrier and the component is a fully integral pressure boundary without a seal connection between the carrier and the component. The carrier can be welded to the component to form the integral pressure boundary. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.
Abstract: A catheter includes an electromechanical polymer (EMP) actuator disposed in a steerable tip at the distal end of the catheter. When activated, the EMP actuator deflects the steerable tip through an angle between 0 and 270 degrees, thus permitting the operator to steer the steerable tip through the vasculature. The steerable tip also has at least a first relatively stiff region and a second relatively flexible region, and the EMP actuator is provided next to the first relatively stiff region so that the steerable tip may toward the flexible region when activated. In one implementation, an external interface allows a user to select by name one of many sets of control signals, with each set of control signals being signals calibrated for configuring the catheter to mimic a known catheter.

Abstract: A lighting device installation method includes the following steps. Firstly, a holder including a first stopping structure and a first engaging structure is fixed on an installation surface. Then, a lighting device including a second stopping structure and a third stopping structure is provided. The second stopping structure and the third stopping structure are collaboratively defined as a second engaging structure. Then, the second engaging structure of the lighting device is stopped by the first stopping structure of the holder, so that the lighting device is supported by the lower portion of the holder. Then, electrical connection between the lighting device and a power source is established. Afterwards, the second engaging structure of the lighting device is engaged with the first engaging structure of the holder, so that the lighting device is supported by the upper portion of the holder.

The sense motion is translational motion such the sense masses remain parallel to the surface of the substrate.

Abstract: An implantable infusion pump possesses operational functionality that is, at least in part, controlled by software operating in two processor ICs which are configured to perform some different and some duplicate functions. The pump exchanges messages with an external device via telemetry. Each processor controls a different part of the drug infusion mechanism such that both processors must agree on the appropriateness of drug delivery for infusion to occur. Delivery accumulators are incremented and decremented with delivery requests and with deliveries made. When accumulated amounts reach or exceed, quantized deliverable amounts, infusion is made to occur. The accumulators are capable of being incremented by two or more independent types of delivery requests. Operational modes of the infusion device are changed automatically in view of various system errors that are trapped, various system alarm conditions that are detected, and when excess periods of time lapse between pump and external device interactions.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a shielded electronic module is formed on a substrate. The substrate has a component area and one or more electronic components attached to the component area. One set of conductive pads may be attached to the component area and another set of conductive pads may be provided on the electronic component. The conductive pads on the component area are electrically coupled to the conductive pads of the electronic component by a conductive layer. A first insulating layer is provided over the component area and underneath the conductive layer that may insulate the electronic component and the substrate from the conductive layer. A second insulating layer is provided over the first insulating layer that covers at least the conductive layer. In this manner, the conductive layer is isolated from an electromagnetic shield formed over the component area.

Abstract: An electrical device and/or a connected component is grounded utilizing a dedicated listed grounding conductor that permanently connects to a chassis of the electrical device and a grounded receptacle. The grounding conductor is dedicated to and listed for grounding the electrical device and/or connected components. The grounding conductor includes a first portion that is permanently connectible to a chassis of the electrical device, a second portion that is permanently connectible to the grounding receptacle, and a conductor portion that connects the first portion and second portion. In some implementations, the first portion may include a terminal lug that connects to a port of the chassis and may be secured by a nut that may require mechanical assistance to remove. Abstract: A vacuum heat treating furnace for the heat treatment of metal parts includes a pressure vessel and a hot zone enclosure that defines a hot zone therein. A heating element array inside the hot zone enclosure includes a first heating element, a second heating element, and a center heating element. The first and second heating elements are suspended on opposing sides of the hot zone enclosure. The center heating element is suspended vertically from the hot zone enclosure between the first and second heating elements. The center heating element is adapted to be connected to the first and second heating elements to form a continuous circuit therewith. The center heating element may be connected to the first and second heating elements with removable/reusable fasteners to provide for reconfiguration of the hot zone to accommodate different size workloads.

Abstract: The invention relates to a service device (1000) having a system of a gasper module (100) and a lighting module (200) for a passenger service unit of an aircraft, comprising: a lighting source in a housing of the lighting module (200) for providing light and a gasper orifice in a housing of the gasper module (100) for supply of gasper air, wherein the lighting module (200) and the gasper module (100) are assembled in a housing assembly of the service device, wherein the housing assembly (300) is adapted to hold the lighting module (200) and the gasper module (100) essentially around an axis (Z) of the housing assembly.

Abstract: A system for transferring electric energy to a vehicle including an electric conductor arrangement for producing an alternating electromagnetic field and for thereby transferring electric energy to a vehicle, and a current supply for supplying electric energy to the segments. The conductor arrangement including a plurality of consecutive segments. Each segment includes at least one alternating current line for carrying an alternating current. The segments are electrically connected in parallel to each other to the current supply. For a sequence of consecutive segments, a converter is assigned and connected to each segment. The assigned converter is connected to the current supply and is adapted to convert a current carried by the current supply to an alternating current carried by the at least one alternating current line of the segment, so that there is a sequence of assigned converters for the corresponding sequence of consecutive segments.

Abstract: A method for coupling ends of two insulated conductors includes coupling a core of a first insulated conductor to a core of a second insulated conductor. Exposed portions of the cores are located inside a box with an open top. Electrically insulating powder material is placed into the box and a first plunger is inserted through the open top of the box to compact the powder material. Additional electrically insulating powder material is placed into the box and a second plunger is inserted through the open top of the box to compact the powder material into compacted powder material that surrounds the exposed portions of the cores. The compacted powder material is formed into a substantially cylindrical shape. A sleeve is placed over the compacted powder material and coupling the sleeve to the jackets of the insulated conductors.

Abstract: Garments having one or more stretchable conductive ink patterns thereon. Described herein are garments (including compression garments) having one or more highly stretchable conductive ink pattern formed of a composite of an insulative adhesive, a conductive ink, and an intermediate gradient zone between the adhesive and conductive ink. The conductive ink typically includes between about 40-60% conductive particles, between about 30-50% binder; between about 3-7% solvent; and between about 3-7% thickener. The stretchable conductive ink patterns may be stretched more than twice their length without breaking or rupturing.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a method removes gold plating on an electronic component.
