Abstract: To make a container shape slim and compact and prevent breakage of a stick-shaped cosmetic material, a stick-shaped cosmetic material (M) having a cross sectional shape with long and short diameters is used, four support pieces (7b) supporting a rear end portion of the cosmetic material (M) support inclined surfaces (Ma) between the long and short diameters, a forward and backward moving hole (4a), in which the cosmetic material (M) and the support pieces (7b) move, is formed in a cross sectional shape with long and short diameters, and has flat short diameter side inner surfaces (4aa), the short diameter side inner surfaces (4aa) come close to short-diameter side outer surfaces (Mb) of the cosmetic material (M), and inner surfaces (4ab) at the support piece (7b) side come close to outer surfaces (7bb) at an outer side in the short diameter direction of the support pieces (7b).

Abstract: The present invention is an improved cosmetic applicator which contains a new and novel apparatus to expose and retract a cosmetic stick contained within the applicator apparatus. The apparatus comprises an internal threaded shaft supported on a base which includes rotation means such as a knob, the shaft having a multiplicity of spaced apart threads on its exterior surface. A hollow cylindrical shelf having means at one end to support a cosmetic and a pair of interior oppositely disposed male teeth adjacent its opposite end which interact with the threads enables the shelf to ride up and down on the threaded shaft as the knob is turned to thereby expose and retract the cosmetic supported at the upper end of the cylindrical shelf. A hollow exterior cylindrical casing is supported at one end within the base and surrounds the hollow cylindrical self and the cosmetic supported thereon. The cylindrical casing is covered by an exterior cylindrical casing when the apparatus is not in use.

Each one of the one, or more than one opening is of a sufficient size to permit at least partial lateral movement of the fastener. Also included in the housing are an inlet and an outlet in communication with the conduit, the outlet being in communication with the second end, and a biasing assembly for advancing the circular arc-shaped solid composition stick within the conduit. The position of the applicator of the present invention relative to a surface to be treated can be easily adjusted by laterally sliding the housing of the applicator relative to its mounting bracket.

Cavities having sloping surfaces are formed in the housing first side. The collet includes an arm having wedges formed on its outer surface and positioned to be received in the housing cavities. The collet is movable between an extended position in which the sloped surface of the housing cavities engage the collet arm wedges to urge the collet arm transversely towards the housing second wall to frictionally grip the marking material in the holder and a second position in which the wedge is received in the housing cavity such that no transverse force is applied to the collet arm, and the marking material can move freely relative to the holder.

The moveable sleeve can be moved to selectively expose a portion of the eraser. A ferrule couples the pencil body and the eraser together and provides an outer surface to engage an inner surface of the moveable sleeve. In one embodiment, a threaded female slot in the outer surface of the ferrule engages a male threaded tab in the inner surface of the sleeve. In another embodiment, a plurality of concentric slots in the outer surface of the ferrule engage a tab in the inner surface of the sleeve.

Abstract: A depilatory wax stick which is simple, low cost and easy to use, particularly on facial and neck surfaces and other small areas and even in delicate areas where very fine wax deposition is required. In a preferred embodiment disclosed herein, the wax stick is generally cylindrical and is about 10 cm long and has a slightly tapered shape with a 1.8 cm diameter base and a 1.5 cm diameter free end which is rounded to form about a 1.0 cm application tip. Because there is no required flow of wax through an aperture or passage or onto a roller, the stick may be shaped in virtually unlimited ways to facilitate extremely fine application control. In its simplest form, the base of the stick is held in a tapered plastic cap which provides a stable flat surface. An external housing may be provided to promote convenient storage and to prevent contamination of the wax between uses.

The front portion of the propelling pencil is inserted in the lower end of the shaft of the propelling pencil. The inner surface of the shaft has several ridges which together act as longitudinal guides for the writing core holder. A helical wire, controlling the core holder movement, is formed by winding a flat metal wire. The core holder is made of an elastic material and has a hole therein which has a large diameter at each end thereof and a relatively small diameter at its central region. The core holder is also provided with longitudinal ridges in its lower portion to prevent rotation of the writing core held therein.

A cone-shaped lead guide member is provided in the tapered end of the pencil tube and has a bottommost tube portion to protrude outward from the tapered end. The lead guide member is movable between a protruding position and a retracted position to propel and draw in the lead rod.

For generating a vacuum between mass (3) and closure cap (11) there is provided a circumferential gasket (15) disposed between an outer wall portion (9) of container (2) and closure cap (11). For avoiding early wear of this circumferential gasket (15) and the resultant loss of its sealing properties, the invention provides that on removal of the closure cap (11) the circumferential gasket (15) is positively forced into sealing engagement with the outer wall portion (9) of the container (2) by a force generated by the removal of the closure cap and acting in the direction towards said outer wall portion.

The cap of the dispenser may assume either of two forms, a snap-on type, or a screw-on type, each exhibiting an air-tight seal. The snap-cap is constructed to include a plurality of cams which operate in conjunction with similar members on the mouth of the cylindrical container to provide relative ease in opening and closing the snap-cap.The dispenser is designed to be filled in a conventional manner from the opening in the top, or, alternatively, from a hole in the bottom of the cylindrical container.

Abstract: A writing implement having a body formed by a pair of leaves each having a longitudinally extending bore therein, with the bores in the two leaves coaxial and the two leaves interengaged in the manner of a hinge, and a writing member, such as a pencil lead or ball-point pen with an ink reservoir, extending through the coaxial bores in the two members, the two leaves being relatively pivotable about the axis of the coaxial bores therein between a storage configuration in which the leaves lie substantially in the same plane and a writing configuration in which the planes of the two leaves are at an acute angle to one another. The writing member is preferably secured to an axially movable plunger in the coaxial bores, which plunger has grooves co-operating with projections from the leaves such that a writing tip of the writing member is caused to project from one end of the leaves upon movement of the leaves from the storage to the writing configuration.

Abstract: A writing instrument for thin lead refills comprising a housing and a lead feed mechanism located within the housing and wherein the feed of the lead refills is effected by a lead collet slidable axially against a spring force. The housing is sub-divided into front and rear housing sections which are axially adjacent one another and are relatively rotatable about a longitudinal axis of the instrument. To each housing section there is secured in rotation a component of a cam assembly comprising a thrust cam component and a thruster component. Upon relative rotation of the housing sections, the components interact with one another to slide the lead collet into projected open position for receiving a lead refill. One of the cam components is axially secured with the associated housing section and the other cam component is axially secured with the part of the lead feed mechanism carrying the lead collet and is axially displaceble with respect to the associated housing section.

Abstract: A cartridge for dispensing a filler stick wherein the stick is advanced automatically out of one end of the cartridge by the removal of the cap. The stick is supported on a piston slidable in the cartridge and vented at the bottom of the cartridge to the atmosphere and the cap and cartridge have a slidable seal such that removal of the cartridge creates a vacuum within the cap to enable the air pressure on the piston to force the stick out of the cartridge.
