Abstract: An apparatus and process are provided for molding articles such as animal chew toys by providing mold cavities in series. Plasticated resin may flow through a runner system and gate to substantially fill a first cavity and then through a sub-gate to fill a second cavity of which may include a shape that is similar to the first cavity shape. This may result in substantially reduced offal, e.g. trim waste, in the molding process.

Abstract: An actuator is disclosed, in particular for a locking unit of an injection compression machine, comprising a hydraulic force translator with two piston units moving relative to each other with different effective areas. The foregoing enclose a pressure chamber together with a cylinder or spacer of the force translator. The smaller piston unit is electrically driven, wherein the axial displacement of the smaller piston unit may be transmitted to the cylinder. The cylinder can be fixed relative to a chassis of the injection compression machine by means of a hydraulic clamping device. According to the invention, the pressure necessary for clamping is delivered by a high-pressure reservoir which may be charged during the displacement of the smaller piston unit.

  • Patent number: 7666335
Abstract: Methods and apparatus control the direction and/or magnitude of warpage in formed plastic parts through strategic repositioning of the non-homogeneous melt conditions across the stream of a laminar flowing fluid flowing through a flow channel to a desirable state. This may be used in combination with more conventional process variables, such as control of material temperature, pack pressure, and pack time. The invention is particularly useful in any solidifying or non-solidifying runner, or flow channel used to make products from laminar flowing fluids. The runner may be a cold-runner or hot-runner system that flow a stream of laminar flowing material, such as thermosetting or thermoplastic plastic (melt) through at least one runner flowing a non-homogeneous melt, and extruded or packed into a single or multiple-cavity mold.

The contact lens mold sections include two optical quality surfaces, a flange circumscribing at least a portion of the two optical quality surfaces, and an elongate member extending from the flange. Two mold sections can contact one another to form a mold assembly having a contact lens shaped cavity. The mold sections are structured to form a contact lens having an edge that does not require further physical modification before placement on an eye. Systems and methods are described which direct a molten polymeric material into cavities corresponding to the mold sections.

Abstract: Provided is a transferring and molding method capable of forming a molded article on which a pattern is transferred in a prescribed position by automatically correcting a shift when there is produced a molded article on which the pattern is transferred with a shift. When the pattern of a molded article has a shift, the shift dimension and the shift direction of the pattern of the molded article are detected as digital values, and positional correction is carried out by automatically moving the transfer film by the detected shift dimension toward the side opposite from the detected shift direction. Thereafter, the pattern is transferred in the prescribed position of the molded article that has undergone the transferring, and molding is carried out.

Abstract: A moulding process and a mould for manufacturing a toothbrush of plastic material with a resistant inner core, is disclosed. It is provided to manufacture a resistant inner core, and to introduce it into a mould cavity having opposite footprints belonging to a lower half-mould and an upper half-mould (S2) and to subsequently inject molten plastic material into the mould cavity for manufacturing at least part of the toothbrush handle. A resistant metal core is placed into a respective footprint of the lower half-mould in contact with at least two support platforms, adapted to support the core in the proximity of a central line of the mould cavity, and before the injection of structural plastic material, to couple the lower half-mould with an upper half-mould having at least one ribbing to contact with the metal core at least in a position between the support platforms and in a position opposite thereto.

Abstract: In forming a plastic mold product having an inner hole, a flash of a degree which is required to be removed in a following step is prevented from occurring. The cutter punch 12 in one of the stationary mold 1 and the movable mold 2, the gas passage 7 in at least one of the stationary mold 1 and the movable mold 2 to communicate with the cavity 54, a valve provided on a gas pipe which communicates with the gas passage 7, and a controller are provided. The cutter punch 12 is adapted to be movable between a normal position for injection of the melted resin and a projected position in which the cutter punch 12 projects into the cavity 54 so that a clearance remains between the cutter punch 12 and its counterpart at the position for forming the optical disk substrate with the inner hole, with the gas coming out of the gas passage being capable of flowing into the clearance.

Abstract: This invention provides an ice-candy forming container and an ice-candy producing method, which enable the ice-candies having a complicated shape copying a face of a cartoon character or the like to be produced with higher quality and without a loss of shape. This invention employs a forming container A including a first mold 1 having a pattern portion 5 formed in one face 3 thereof, and a second mold 2 configured to slide over and along the one face 3 of the first mold 1, in a close contact relation, in directions designated by arrows A1-A2, so as to contain the first mold 1 therein. In such a containing-in position, the second mold 2 contacts externally and closely with substantially the whole surface of the outer periphery of the pattern portion 5.
