  • Patent number: 6911170
Abstract: A method and a mold used with this method for manufacturing cast spray diffusers is described in which, in order to prevent an expensive reworking of important corners and edges, the molded parts are formed is such a way that mold parting planes are moved out of these critical areas. In particular, the transitional area between a rotationally symmetric swirl chamber of a spray diffuser in the narrow mouthpiece channel and the outlet edge of the mouthpiece are each placed in one-piece molded parts that abut against these adjacent molded parts outside these areas.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and system of marking data media products by introducing a predetermined tracing substance constituting a security marking into a polycarbonate (or polystyrene) composition during the manufacturing stages of the polycarbonate material into a data media, such as a compact disc (CD) or digital versatile disc (DVD). This marking technique is useful in tracking pirated data and/or sources, such as CDs or DVDs, to thereby prevent future pirating of data. Using mass spectrometry, specific types and/or quantities of isotopes of each tracing substance, on a structural level, are used to indicate a specific marking and product identity characteristics, such as a specific lot number, batch number, manufacturer identity, shipping date and the like. The security marking is preferably invisible to the naked eye. The security marking technique is also useful for tracking, authenticating and quality control purposes.

Abstract: This invention consists of a new cost effective injection molding apparatus for molding with hot melt adhesives and other Polyamide materials. Manufactured from standard tubing components in a double “L” or “C” design, it has fewer moving parts than other molding machines therefore requiring less maintenance. It is specifically designed to not require the use of temperature limiting and maintenance prone heated hoses for transport of melted material or sliding injection nozzles for engagement into mold-set by utilizing a substantially fixed injection nozzle. It incorporates a sell-draining melt reservoir with single-side mounting to allow for heat expansion and has very short material transfer distance from reservoir to mold-set. It can utilize permanent nozzle engagement into the mold-set to simplify molding operation and reduce cost. It incorporates several safety features to protect operators against injuries.

The base extension is arranged in such a way that it is capable of being positioned in the direction of a longitudinal axis of the blow mold, and is supported by a base plate. The base plate connects the base extension to a positioning device. The base plate is additionally connected to the base extension by a profiled coupling section, wherein this profiled coupling section is formed from a coupling element, which is connected to the base plate, along with a counter element that is connected to the base extension. The profiled coupling section is capable of being actuated via a manual lever.

The thickness (t1) of the bottom 15 of the rim 6 is smaller than the thickness (t2) of the web 5. On the side faces 8 and 8 of the web 5, annular circumferential ribs 10, 11 and 12 protruding concentrically with the rim 6 and hub 4 are formed. The relationship between the thickness (t1) of the bottom 15 of the rim 6, the thickness (t2) of the web 5 and the thickness (t3) of the circumferential rib 12 is t1≦t3<t2.

Abstract: It is an object of this invention to provide an injection mold having high durability because a heat insulating coat with which at least one of a sliding member and an adjacent member for guiding the sliding member is coated has a high peeling resistance. To achieve this object, the injection mold has an adjacent member and sliding member adjacent to each other. A sliding surface of the sliding member is slidably guided by a sliding surface of the adjacent member such that a partial cavity surface of the sliding member protrudes into the cavity by a relative sliding distance from the state in which this partial cavity surface is leveled with that partial cavity surface of the adjacent member, which forms part of the cavity surface. A portion from the partial cavity surface to the sliding surface of the sliding member is continuously coated with a heat insulating coat. The range over which the sliding surface is coated with the heat insulating coat is so set as to exceed the relative sliding distance.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for casting, handling, or storing assay matrices. In one embodiment, an assay matrix casting system comprises a gel matrix frame sandwiched between two films, forming a “gel matrix mold,” two plates sandwiching the gel matrix mold, one or more devices for delivering gel material into a chamber formed by the gel matrix mold, and a device for pressing the plates toward each other. An assay matrix is cast by applying pressure to the, injecting a liquid gel material into the chamber of the gel matrix mold, and allowing the gel material to form a gel matrix inside the chamber. The gel matrix may be handled or stored using the gel matrix mold, which is removable from the other components of the gel casting system.

Abstract: An injection molding apparatus is disclosed that includes an injection mold, a mold injector, and means for monitoring the injection mold process using acoustic energy. The injection mold includes a cavity for receiving an injection mold material, such as a polymer as injected via the mold injector. The monitoring system includes an acoustic energy generator, an ultrasonic crystal, and an energy monitoring device. The acoustic energy generator produces continuous acoustic energy to be non-invasively applied to the injection mold as the polymer is delivered into the mold. The energy monitoring device monitors changes in dynamic parameters of a resulting continuous resonant frequency established by the acoustic energy generator through the ultrasonic crystal. The ultrasonic crystal serves also as a transducer to receive an output signal from the mold to be delivered to the energy monitoring device.

Abstract: A non-magnetic substrate for a magnetic recording medium is formed or molded within a die. The die is designed to define embedment depressions on the surface of the resulting non-magnetic substrate. Any bumps or lugs formed on the inner surface of the die can be employed to form the embedment depressions on the non-magnetic substrate. A magnetic material fills the individual embedment depression so as to establish a magnetic block embedded into the surface of the non-magnetic substrate. The magnetic block can be utilized as a positional mark in a tracking servo control for a corresponding read/write head in a magnetic storage system.
