  • Patent number: 7388814
Abstract: The present invention provides a time indicator and method of use for determining and visually displaying the passage of a predetermined period of time. The time indicator of the present invention comprises a top portion and a bottom portion. The top portion is a multi-layer segment comprising a dye support layer coated with a masking layer, which containing a viewing window therethrough, and a non-curing ink or dye permeable polymer layer containing a migrating agent. The bottom portion is a multi-layer segment comprising a base support layer and a migrating ink or dye printed on the top surface of the base segment. The time indicator apparatus further comprises a removable impervious film or middle layer, which can be removed allowing the top and bottom portions to come into contact with one another, thereby activating the time indicator. • Patent number: 7363875
Abstract: An overload indicator for a load supporting apparatus is arranged to bend during overloading of the apparatus, thereby visually indicating the overload to a user or observer. The indicator features a longitudinal member having a U-shaped cross section defining one central and two side portions. A series of slots extend into each side portion from a side opposite the central portion such that the member will bend concavely with respect to that side, moving opposite ends of the member closer together. The indicator is arranged to extend between connection points on a first member and a second load supporting member of the apparatus in order to bend in response to excessive loading of the second member. The bending moves the connection points of the two members closer together, thus bringing the load closer to the first member.

  • Patent number: 7353770
Abstract: A visual wear indicator is disclosed capable of giving a visual indication of the degree of wear on an athletic or other type of shoe. In general, the visual wear indicator may operate by having two different colored regions, each having a viscosity which varies a function of pressure. Before pressure is applied, the boundary between the two regions is clear. However, over time, as the midsole and/or outer sole of the shoe wear away, the pressure exerted on the visual wear indicator increases during activity. As the pressure increases, the viscosity of the regions eventually decreases. When the viscosity decreases, the regions bleed together, and the boundary between the regions becomes less clear. The degree of mixture between the regions may be calibrated to give a clear visual indication of when the shoe has worn down to the point where the shoe is unable to provide a desired level of support and stress absorption.

Abstract: A long term rapid color changing time indicator includes a front part and a back part. The front part includes a transparent layer, an opaque layer, a colorant layer, and a neutralizing layer. The colorant layer includes a matrix and a colorant having a non-migratory form that does not migrate in the matrix and having a migratory form that migrates in the matrix. The back part has a reactant. When the front part and the back part are placed in contact, the reactant migrates into the neutralizing layer and a portion of the reactant is depleted by a coreactant. The unreacted reactant migrates into the colorant layer and reacts with the non-migratory form of the colorant converting the non-migratory form to the migratory form such that the migratory form of the colorant migrates through the opaque layer to cause a visual color indication in the transparent layer.

  • Patent number: 6742472
Abstract: A pressure measurement method using a pressure measuring film in which a toner layer with a definite thickness is held between an adhesive layer formed on a first support and an inactive adhesive layer formed on a second support. Prior to applying the pressure to be measured to the measuring film, the inactive adhesive layer is activated to have an adhesive property. After pressure to be measured is applied to the film, the first support is removed and the applied pressure is determined based on the amount of toner attached to the second support. Using a toner having extremely small size, an extremely low pressure applied to an extremely small contact area can be measured. Also the pressure measuring film is not affected by use conditions (temperature, humidity). The inactive adhesive layer may be formed of a thermoplastic resin adhesive which can be activated by heating to become adhesive.

  • Patent number: 6732673
Abstract: An anchor system for flexible marker posts comprises an anchor that receives a post before the anchor is driven into the ground. In one version of the anchor system, a V-shaped configuration folded along two longitudinal side axes and one lower lateral axis. This version has front and rear plates, and the rear plate has and combines with two flanges to define a narrow pocket that receives the post. The post is secured in the pocket by deforming the pocket with punches. The anchor is retained in the earth by mechanical interference and friction. Additional embodiments include plates that are pre-bent into a V-shape, tabs for maintaining separation of the plates, and a one-piece anchor having a V-shaped lower portion and coplanar, horizontal, upper surfaces connected to the upper edges of the lower portion.

Abstract: The present invention provides a color coded identification system for identifying a hand tool. The system includes a chart defining operating characteristic of the hand tool by use of a first group of colors and handle size by used of a second group of colors. The hand tool has a handle and an operative member. The handle includes a first portion with a color chosen from the first group of colors. Further, the handle includes a second portion with a color chosen from the second group of colors. The operative member connects to the handle with the operating characteristic corresponding to the color of the first portion of the handle. A label is further disposed onto the operating member having an icon illustrating a portion of the hand tool in the same color as the color of the first portion of the handle.

Abstract: A personnel location control system for controlling and guiding a group of individuals in a selected path to a waiting point and then to an activity in advance of that waiting point. The system in one embodiment relies upon a plurality of disks or like guide path-forming elements which define the edges of a desired guide path for a line of individuals waiting to reach the activity or destination. These elements may be physically mounted on a ground cover substrate where a single substrate or a plurality of similar substrates in combination, could form a desired guide path. Thus, some of the ground substrates may define arcuate guide path sections and others may define straight guide path sections, etc., but which when combined will form a total guide path. Thus, modular carpet substrates or sections could be provided and each of these carpet sections would be capable of being secured to a ground or floor surface.

Abstract: A portable accident marking system to be used in conjunction with a rigid structure such as a snowboard, skis or the like, in order to alert others of an accident. The system is pliable so that when not in use it can easily fold and fit into a small pocket. The system includes a main body, cords or elastic bands, and two opposing end caps wherein the cords attach the end caps to the main body. Each end cap includes a pocket which captures the tip or tail of a snowboard. Retainer clips are then used with each cord to adjust the fit of the system. Bright colours, reflective material, and indicia are used to make the system highly visible.

The pocket has a front wall with a top edge and a rear wall that extends higher than the front wall top edge. A prompt of highly attention-getting material such as a holographic type light-reflecting strip, is attached to the rear wall to lie above the top edge of the front wall. • Patent number: 4866492
Abstract: An improved FET is described in which a conductive layer connects the source structure to a truncated source extension which underlies an insulative gate layer and connects to a channel region. The conductive layer is of substantially lower resistivity than the source extension, thereby significantly reducing the lateral resistance of the device to diminish losses and reduce the likelihood of a parasitic bipolar transistor turning on. The invention can be implemented in both vertical and lateral devices. For a lateral device the drain is connected by a low resistance conductive layer to the gate region in a manner similar to the source.
