Roller Bearing Patents (Class 384/548)
  • Patent number: 4611935
Abstract: A scheme for accurately and quickly axially positioning a rotatable member such as the axles of a differential or a shaft supported impeller of a centrifugal pump within a housing or similar support for rotation therein with predetermined axial bearing clearance which is independent of the dimensional variations of the member and support is disclosed wherein a deformable spacing element is associated with each thrust carrying bearing with the adjacent bearing and spacing element being held axially captive between the shaft and a corresponding disc which is slidable relative to the housing and with one disc axially aligned and limited in sliding movement in one common direction opposite the direction from which the rotatable member is positioned by engagement with the housing. Typically there are two discs, one limited in movement toward the interior of the housing and the other limited in movement by the housing.

  • Patent number: 4584442
Abstract: A welding cable reel system including an insulated reel mounted on an electrically conducting bearing assembly, the assembly in turn mounted on a hub which is rotatably mounted on a shaft which is connected to an insulated support post. A cable being connected to the hub so as to receive current which is transmitted to the support post and carried through the shaft and hub to the cable.

  • Patent number: 4512729
Abstract: A fluid displacement apparatus is disclosed which includes a housing having a front end plate, a fixed fluid displacement member and an orbiting fluid displacement member. The fixed and orbiting members interfit to make a plurality of line contacts to define sealed off fluid pockets. A driving mechanism, including a drive shaft, is disposed within the housing and is connected to the orbiting member to effect orbital motion of the orbiting member upon rotation of the drive shaft. The drive shaft is rotatably supported by the front end plate through an angular bearing disposed within the front end plate. The pressure cone apex of the angular bearing coincides with the driving point of the orbiting member. A thrust race is disposed on one axial end surface of the angular bearing, and a ring plate is disposed within the front end plate facing the thrust race at a predetermined axial distance.

  • Patent number: 4508396
Abstract: A method of producing a bearing component such as an inner ring, an outer ring and rolling elements having a solid lubricant on a frictional surface part thereof, which comprises a step of forming a coating of a material on a frictional surface part of a metal substrate, the solubilities of the coating material in the substrate metal and in the solid lubricant being higher than the mutual solubility of the substrate metal and the solid lubricant, a step of providing on a surface part of the coating a solid lubricant consisting of a metallic material having a low solubility in the substrate metal, and a step of maintaining the solid lubricant, the coating and the metal substrate for a predetermined period of time at a predetermined temperature of below the lower one of the maximum operating temperature of the bearing component and the melting point of the solid lubricant so as to induce mutual diffusion between the metal substrate, the coating and the solid lubricant, thereby increasing the bonding strength be

  • Patent number: 4505525
Abstract: The bearing with rolling contact consists of wire elements (2, 4) which serve as raceways for the rolling elements (1), and an inner bearing ring (3) and an outer bearing ring (5). An insert is fitted between at least one wire element (2) and its associated wire bed (6) in the bearing ring in question (3), and this insert is designed as a tubular pressure pad (7).

  • Patent number: 4505523
Abstract: The prestressed rolling bearing device comprises a cage for guiding and/or retaining a plurality of rolling elements. At least one of the rolling elements has an outside diameter larger than that of the other rolling elements. The rolling element of larger diameter is formed by a ball and the other rolling elements are cylindrical elements.
