  • Patent number: 9017289
Abstract: A transdermal fluid delivery device includes a housing defining a longitudinal axis and having a proximal end and a distal end. The housing defines a passageway extending longitudinally therethrough. A fluid reservoir is disposed at the proximal end of the housing in communication with the passageway of the housing and is adapted for retaining a fluid therein. A base member is positioned at the distal end of the housing. A microneedle assembly including a plurality of microneedles extending distally therefrom is also provided. The microneedle assembly is selectively moveable with respect to the housing between a retracted position, wherein the microneedles are disposed within the housing, and an extended position, wherein the microneedles are advanced distally to penetrate the base member and extend distally therefrom for puncturing the patient's epidermis and delivering the fluid into the patient's bloodstream.

  • Patent number: 8636702
Abstract: A syringe assembly having a collapsible or pivotable plunger rod with magnification properties is provided. In a pre-use or packaged state, the plunger rod is positioned substantially parallel to a barrel of the syringe assembly resulting in the syringe assembly having a reduced length and a smaller packaging footprint. The smaller packaging footprint allows for reduced storage space of the syringe assembly. Upon removal from a packaging and/or a storage space, the plunger rod can be slid or pivoted toward a proximal end of the syringe barrel and locked into place such that the syringe assembly is ready for use. The plunger rod can be shaped to provide magnification to indicia of the syringe barrel and/or contents. Alternatively, a separate magnification member can be associated with the plunger rod and/or secured about the syringe barrel.

  • Patent number: 8632519
Abstract: A syringe assembly includes a syringe barrel having an exterior surface, an inside surface defining a chamber, an open proximal end, a distal end, and an outlet disposed adjacent the distal end in fluid communication with the chamber; and a plunger assembly disposed at least partially within the syringe barrel. The plunger assembly includes an elongated plunger rod and a plunger head. The elongated plunger rod is associated with the plunger head to move the plunger head within the chamber of the syringe barrel through an injection cycle. The plunger rod is adapted to move from a collapsed position extending alongside the exterior surface of the syringe barrel to an extended position engaging the plunger head to move the plunger head through the injection cycle.

Abstract: In various embodiments, an ophthalmic injection device may include a dispensing chamber, a first thermal sensor coupled to the dispensing chamber, a temperature control layer coupled to the dispensing chamber, a second thermal sensor coupled to the dispensing chamber, and a first processing device. The first processing device may be configured to receive temperature information from the first thermal sensor and the second thermal sensor and control the temperature control layer using the received temperature information. In some embodiments, the first processing device may receive temperature information directly from the second thermal sensor (e.g., in analog form) and may compare the temperature information from the first thermal sensor (e.g., received from the second processing device in digital form) and the second thermal sensor to detect temperature offsets between the two sensors.

Abstract: A plunger-driven delivery device for use with a feeding tube for delivering an ingestible material to a user is provided. The delivery device includes a device body having a first chamber, a second chamber and an exit orifice through which the ingestible material is delivered to the feeding tube. A first plunger is disposed in the first chamber, and a second plunger is disposed in the second chamber. The delivery device can be provided with the ingestible material disposed in the first chamber and a flushing liquid disposed in the second chamber. The delivery device is operable to provide sequential delivery first of the ingestible material and then the flushing liquid into the feeding tube. In some embodiments, a mechanical interlock is disposed between the first and second plungers to prevent use of the second plunger until the first plunger has been depressed.

Abstract: The device is essentially a pipette with pre-filled medication in it. Also, there is an additional plug with pressure release valves on the tip of the pipette. The pre-filled medication prevents licensed practitioners from having to count drops and having to fill the pipette up, thus saving time. The plug on the tip fits snuggly into the ear canal helping the practitioner find the perfect spot in the ear canal. Pressure relief valves in the plug helps relieve pressure in the ear canal when delivering treatment, helping for a safer treatment. The plug on the tip of the pipette also has openings on the side to deliver treatment thus coving a wider spectrum of the ear canal, and creating a more beneficial treatment.
