  • Patent number: 10606883
Abstract: Roughly described, a system for user identification of a desired document. A database identifies a catalog of documents in an embedding space, in which the distance between documents corresponds to a measure of their dissimilarity. The system presents an initial collection of the documents toward the user from an initial candidate space which is part of the embedding space, then in response to iterative user input, refines the candidate space and subsequent collections of documents presented toward the user. The initial collection is determined using a weighted cost-based iterative addition to the initial collection of documents from the initial candidate space, trading off between two sub-objectives of representativeness and diversity.

  • Patent number: 10600239
Abstract: Matching an illumination of an embedded virtual object (VO) with current environment illumination conditions provides an enhanced immersive experience to a user. To match the VO and environment illuminations, illumination basis functions are determined based on preprocessing image data, captured as a first combination of intensities of direct illumination sources illuminates the environment. Each basis function corresponds to one of the direct illumination sources. During the capture of runtime image data, a second combination of intensities illuminates the environment. An illumination-weighting vector is determined based on the runtime image data. The determination of the weighting vector accounts for indirect illumination sources, such as surface reflections. The weighting vector encodes a superposition of the basis functions that corresponds to the second combination of intensities. The method illuminates the VO based on the weighting vector.

  • Patent number: 10593042
Abstract: Multi-dimensional data can be mapped to a projection shape and converted for image analysis. In some examples, the multi-dimensional data may include data captured by a LIDAR system for use in conjunction with a perception system for an autonomous vehicle. Converting operations can include converting three-dimensional LIDAR data to multi-channel two-dimensional data. Data points of the multi-dimensional data can be mapped to a projection shape, such as a sphere. Characteristics of the projection shape may include a shape, a field of view, a resolution, and a projection type. After data is mapped to the projection shape, the projection shape can be converted to a multi-channel, two-dimensional image. Image segmentation and classification may be performed on the two-dimensional data. Further, segmentation information may be used to segment the three-dimensional LIDAR data, while a rendering plane may be positioned relative to the segmented data to perform classification on a per-object basis.

The optical numerical computation device includes input circuitry, pre-calculation circuitry, calculation circuitry, a light collection cavity, and a plurality of light computation components. The pre-calculation circuitry and calculation circuitry cause light sources to emit light representing the values of input operands, which is subsequently related within the light collection cavity. Sensors then generate resultant outputs at values indicative of the sensed light value. The respective wavelength of light emitted from or sensed by each light computation component may be associated with an operand arithmetic sign.

Abstract: An apparatus, method, program product, and system are disclosed for evicting pages from memory using a neural network. A state module determines state information related to evicting pages from memory. The state information may be determined by a dedicated hardware snooping device that snoops a system bus for the state information. A learning module determines an identifier for a page in memory to be evicted using a neural network. The neural network may perform machine learning operations on the state information to identify the page in memory to be evicted. An eviction module locates the identified page in memory using the identifier determined by the neural network and evicts the identified page from memory.

Abstract: A method, non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, and reception apparatus for extracting metadata, and an information providing apparatus for providing the metadata. The method for extracting metadata includes processing, by circuitry of the reception apparatus, content that includes the metadata embedded therein. The metadata is embedded as a watermark in a first portion of a video frame of the content. The circuitry determines symbol values of the watermark from the video frame based on luminance values in pixels of the first portion of the video frame of the content to extract the metadata. At least one of the luminance values is less than 16.

Abstract: A system processes data signals consisting of sums of independent signal terms, zero or more of which signal terms may already have been identified, in order to generate one or more additional terms. Deflated versions of the data signals are created by subtracting from the data signals any previously identified signal terms. Additional independent signal terms are computed using a set of reference signals organized into mutually independent partioning support sets. The images of each support set are computed on the data signals. Computed images on a data signal that are non-zero are identified as additional independent signal terms of that data signal.

Abstract: The present embodiments relate to detecting fraudulent insurance claims. According to certain aspects, a central monitoring server may receive and examine data detected by at least one unmanned vehicle and generate an estimated insurance claim for a loss event. The central monitoring server may then receive an actual insurance claim relating to the loss event, and may compare the estimated insurance claim to the actual insurance claim to identify potential buildup included in the actual insurance claim. If buildup is detected, the central monitoring server may then process the actual insurance claim accordingly based upon the potential buildup. As a result, claim monies may be paid to insureds that more accurately reflect actual losses resulting from the loss event, and insurance cost savings may be ultimately passed onto typical insurance customers.
