Wheel Patents (Class 301/5.1)
  • Patent number: 6543559
Abstract: A propulsion system for a vehicle comprised of two wheels, both of which are in the shape of hemispheres. Each of the hemisphere wheels is mounted through a bearing on a fork with two pivots attached to the inner race of the bearing, allowing the wheel to rotate around two perpendicular accesses. The center of each wheel is attached to the shaft through a double universal joint or a flexible shaft. By rotating the hemisphere wheel around the fork pivots the diameter of the wheel engaged with the ground is increased or decreased allowing the vehicle speed and/or direction to very.

Abstract: An apparatus includes first and second wheel sections configured to mate in axially opposed relationship to define a rotatable wheel body. The wheel body has a peripheral outer surface extending circumferentially about an axis of rotation and a bearing cavity centered on the axis. Each of the wheel sections has an axial projection and an axial recess configured to receive the projection on the other of the wheel sections. This limits rotation of the wheel sections relative to each other about the axis when the wheel sections are received in the axially opposed relationship.

  • Publication number: 20020163245
Abstract: A tire/wheel assembly (4) assembling method, comprised of a balance weight determination step (S7), in which the weight and attachment position of a balance weight (3) to be attached to a wheel (1) are determined on the assumption that the minimum point of the RRO of the wheel (1) will be phase matched with the maximum point of the RFV of a tire (2) and based on the weight and position of the heavy point of the static unbalance of the wheel (1) and the weight and position of the light point of the static unbalance of the tire (2), a balance weight attachment step (S8), in which the balance weight (3) is attached to the wheel (1) based on the determined weight and attachment position, and an assembling step (S9), in which the wheel (1) and the tire (2) are assembled together upon phase matching the minimum point of the RRO of the wheel (1) with the maximum point of the RFV of the tire (2).

  • Patent number: 6464302
Abstract: The present invention relates to the structural improvement of a wheel, and more particularly to an assembled wheel structure that has excellent resilience and no need to fill in air as well as is free of air leakage and easy to be disassembled. The present invention is constructed by a wheel body and a tire, wherein the wheel body is further constructed by a wheel shell and a matching wheel cover, while the tire, made of resilient materials (e.g., plastic, PU, etc.), inside accommodates a resilient inner tire to provide double-layered resiliency. There are several position pads on both sides of the inner circumference of the tire and the position pads 421, 431 on two sides are alternated with each other. A hole 422, 432 is formed on each position pad 421, 431 to allow the position rods to set in place and form a complete wheel structure.

  • Publication number: 20020057009
Abstract: A unique integrated wheel is disclosed wherein a groove is formed with an angled surface to facilitate the flow of a weld material. A rim extends into the groove and has surfaces which act in conjunction with the surface of the groove to provide proper positioning and a secure connection. In addition, a method of forming the disk is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6264283
Abstract: An adjustable wheel assembly is provided and includes two pairs of oppositely disposed rim sections. The wheel assembly is normally biased in a circular configuration by a resilient tire disposed over the rim sections. A device for movably mounting the rim sections is employed to move the rims from their circular configuration to an oval configuration. When positioned in the oval configuration the wheel assembly applies maintaining and releasing device to prevent and permit movement of the rim sections between the circular and oval position.
