Abstract: A method of configuring a mount or of controlling sway in an object to be mounted includes configuring isolators of the mount to put a center of elasticity of the flexible mount at a desired height relative to a base of the mount. This desired distance may be at a location of expected minimum clearance between the object to be mounted and the structure expected to surround the object to be mounted and is the center of rotation of the flexible mount. The location of the center of elasticity also may be farther from the base than a center of mass or gravity of the object to be mounted. An equation relating the location of the center of elasticity as a function of isolator material properties and of angle between the isolators and the base may be used to analytically predict the location of the center of elasticity and the center of rotation.

Abstract: The invention is a damper and a method for protecting buildings and similar structural systems from dynamic loading such as loading caused by earthquakes, strong winds or machine vibrations. More specifically, the damper is made from structural members being interconnected in frictional or visco-elastically dampened rotational joints. Due to the dampening of the joints, relative movement between the structural elements is dampened. In particular, the damper is useful for base isolation, e.g., in order to allow a building or a machine to move in a dampened movement relative to its foundation or in order to allow a cable stay of a cable stay bridge to move in a dampened movement relative to its fixation point on the bridge.

Abstract: A bearing assembly having upper and lower bearing seats and a sliding load bearing member between the seats. The sliding member is fitted with an elastic self-centering element. The assembly in operation damps relative horizontal movement between the upper and lower seats, the self-centering element returning the sliding member to a centered position at rest. Typically a structure rests upon and is secured to the upper seat and the lower seat rests upon or is fixed to a foundation. The relative horizontal movement may be caused by earthquakes, wind loads or the like.

Abstract: A mounting device for aircraft comprises an energy absorber and wherein the mounting device is mounted between a primary structure of the aircraft and the interior equipment. In this way the load acting on an interior equipment connected to the primary structure of the aircraft by way of the mounting device can be limited if a crash impulse occurs. The load acting on the primary structure is also limited, which can result in enhanced passive safety for the passengers and in weight reduction.

Abstract: A hydraulic unit is elastically supported by means of elastomer elements, through which bolts pass, on two legs of a mounting bracket that extend perpendicular to one another. The leg of the mounting bracket has recesses, open counter to the mounting direction of the unit, for receiving the elastomer element. With clamping means disposed on the bolt, the elastomer element is axially shortened and pressed against both the recess and side faces, located on either side of the recess, of the leg of the mounting bracket. With the shortened elastomer element, a positive and nonpositive engagement with the leg of the mounting bracket is achieved.

Abstract: A tilting fitting device enables a chair seat to be tiltable forwards and backwards against spring force of tilt-resisting springs, the tilting fitting having an upper part that is fastenable to the chair seat and a lower part that is fastenable to a chair base and tiltably connected to the upper part, wherein the tilting resistance is adjustable by adjusting spacing between the tilt-resisting springs and distance of each spring from a respective side of a tilting axis for the upper part. An actuating element is arranged for simultaneous engagement with two support members, an actuating element, along a part of each of its two sides in the element's direction of motion. On movement of the actuating element in the longitudinal direction of the tilting axis, it is adapted to cause rotation of the support members and springs mounted thereon, thereby changing the spacing of the springs.
