  • Patent number: 7900676
Abstract: A device that enables a user to properly place a label onto the center of an object such as a poker chip is disclosed and the method for using the device is also disclosed. This device uses the natural motions of the human hand and uses techniques that are common to people when applying adhesive labels onto objects. People naturally place one side of a label down carefully checking its alignment. When there is at least one square corner, a label is more easily aligned, but a circular label on a circular object is difficult at best. Consumers are interested in poker chips as form of entertainment as well wanting to customize these chips as an extension of their personality or persona. This device allows for the immediate and successful placement of many labels onto these chips.

Abstract: A method for placing a resin layer or shim on a frame member uses an overpress. The overpress has an inner surface with protruding nubs. The operator places a bead of liquid resin on the inner surface of the overpress, then clamps the overpress to the frame member. The clamps force the nubs of the overpress into contact with the frame member and allows the nubs to define a clearance between the overpress and the frame member. The liquid resin spreads throughout the clearance and cures. After the resin has cured, the overpress is removed from the frame member, leaving a layer of cured resin bound to the frame member. Abstract: The present invention features additions of nano-structures to interconnect conductor fine particles (spheres) to: (1) reduce thermal interface resistance by using thermal interposers that have high thermal conductivity nano-structures at their surfaces; (2) improve the anisotropic conductive adhesive interconnection conductivity with microcircuit contact pads; and (3) allow lower compression forces to be applied during the microcircuit fabrication processes which then results in reduced deflection or circuit damage. When pressure is applied during fabrication to spread and compress anisotropic conductive adhesive and the matrix of interconnect particles and circuit conductors, the nano-structures mesh and compress into a more uniform connection than current technology provides, thereby eliminating voids, moisture and other contaminants, increasing the contact surfaces for better electrical and thermal conduction.

Abstract: A tax stamp apparatus applies labels to individual packages of cigarettes, and prints tax information on the labels after they are applied to cartons of cigarettes. The apparatus may include a digital scanner that scans and decodes two-dimensional bar code information printed on the labels. The tax information may be supplied to the apparatus from a remote location, and the scanned data may be compared to the tax information supplied to the apparatus to verify that the tax indicia have been applied to the cartons of cigarettes.

Abstract: An anodic bonding apparatus includes a first electrode and a second electrode. The first electrode has a first surface, and the second electrode has a second surface facing the first surface. The first surface includes a first central area; a first substrate placing area for placing a laminated substrate; and a first peripheral area surrounding the first substrate placing area. The second surface includes a second central area corresponding to the first central area; a second substrate placing area surrounding the second central area; and a second peripheral area corresponding to the first peripheral area and surrounding the second substrate placing area. Further, the second electrode includes a curved portion curved toward the first electrode, so that a distance between the first central area and the second central area becomes smaller than a distance between the first peripheral area and the second peripheral area.
