  • Patent number: 10994114
Abstract: A fluid pathway connection includes a piercing member, a connection hub, and a sliding pierceable seal, wherein the sliding pierceable seal is configured to move from a first position, where the piercing member is initially retained within a sterile cavity between the connection hub and the sliding pierceable seal, to a second position, where the pierceable seal has been penetrated by the piercing member. A filter may be utilized to enclose the sterile cavity from the outside environment. The fluid pathway connection may further be configured to move to a third position where one or more interconnects and/or one or more corresponding contacts are permitted to transmit a signal to the user. Such fluid pathway connections may be integrated into a drug container having a barrel and a plunger seal. A drug delivery pump includes such integrated fluid pathway connections and drug containers.

Abstract: A fluid flow regulator of a fluid delivery system that can adjust a flow rate of a liquid drug dispensed from a liquid drug container to a user is provided. The fluid flow regulator can be coupled to an end of the liquid drug container. The fluid flow regulator can include a compliance plate and a flow channel selector plate having a fluid flow channel. The flow channel selector plate can be rotated relative to the compliance plate and the liquid drug container to expose a selected portion of the fluid flow channel to openings in the compliance plate that are in fluid communication with the liquid drug stored in the liquid drug container. The selected portion of the fluid flow channel can correspond to a corresponding flow resistance of the liquid drug through the fluid flow channel, thereby regulating the flow of the liquid drug to the user.

  • Patent number: 10960143
Abstract: In an elongated casing, an active agent container connected to an injection needle can be shifted axially by a spring force. Auto-injectors which are sold or distributed filled and with the springs tensed have to be provided with a needle protecting cap to ensure the sterility of the injection needle. When such a needle protecting cap is removed as preparation for using the auto-injector, a tensile force can be exerted on the active agent container. Therefore, the active agent container comprising the injection needle must be prevented from being undesirably pulled forwards. At least one latching tongue prevents the active agent container from being prematurely shifted with respect to the casing, by abutting a flange arranged on a sliding sleeve which accommodates the active agent container. When the auto-injector is placed onto a person's skin, a needle protecting tube is shifted into the casing, forcing the latching tongue away from the flange and, thus, freeing the travel path for needle movement.

Abstract: Various techniques for facilitating communication with and across a clinical environment and a cloud environment are described. For example, a method for generating a user interface based on messages from a clinical environment is described. A data flow manager (DFM) in the cloud environment may check whether the information in a message received from a connectivity adapter in the clinical environment can be used to generate a user interface (UI). If the information can be used to generate a UI, the DFM may merge the information into the cache. The information merged into the cache can subsequently be used to generate a UI in response to a user request.

  • Patent number: 10632255
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for providing a plurality of injections from a fluid reservoir. The apparatus includes a fluid controller for controlling the flow of fluid from the fluid reservoir to a needle. An actuator selectively actuates the fluid controller to provide a dose of medicament from the fluid reservoir. The fluid controller also is configured to calculate the volume of fluid in the fluid reservoir required to provide a dose having a desired number of units of medicament for an injection. The apparatus may also include a detector configured to detect a characteristic indicative of the fluid pressure in the needle. The method includes selecting the number of units to be dispensed during an injection, automatically calculating the injection volume required to dispense the selected number of units based on the calculated unit volume and tracking the total number of units dispensed during a series of injections.
