  • Patent number: 9964630
Abstract: In a positioning system, a mobile device can detect a transmission from one of a number of lighting devices to obtain an identification (ID) label or code of each lighting device. The mobile device uses the detected ID code for a lookup in a self-stored or remotely stored table that associates lighting device location information with ID codes, to obtain an estimate of mobile device position. To mitigate against hacking by a third party detecting the ID codes and observing locations to compile its own lookup table, the disclosed examples dynamically alter the assignments of particular ID codes to the lighting devices, while minimizing potential disruption of position determination service for mobile devices due to the changes to ID code assignments.

A restriction can then be modified based on the correlation.

  • Patent number: 9784817
Abstract: In a visual light communication (VLC) or other light based positioning system, a mobile device can detect modulated light emitted by one or more localized artificial lighting devices to obtain an identification (ID) label or code of each lighting device, e.g. that is visible in an image captured by the mobile device camera. The mobile device uses the detected ID code for a lookup in a self-stored or remotely stored table that associates light-source-location information with ID codes, to obtain an estimate of mobile device position.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for use in a digital imaging device for correcting image blur in digital images by combining plurality of images. The plurality of images that are combined include a main subject that can be selected by user input or automatically by the digital imaging device. Blur correction can be performed to make the main subject blur-free while the rest of the image is blurred. All of the image may be made blur-free or the main subject can be made blur-free at the expense of the rest of the image. Result is a blur corrected image that is recorded in a memory.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for cross-fading (or other multiple clip processing) of information streams on a user or client device, such as a telephone, tablet, computer or MP3 player, or any consumer device with audio playback. Multiple clip processing can be accomplished at a client end according to directions sent from a service provider that specify a combination of (i) the clips involved; (ii) the device on which the cross-fade or other processing is to occur and its parameters; and (iii) the service provider system. For example, a consumer device with only one decoder, can utilize that decoder (typically hardware) to decompress one or more elements that are involved in a cross-fade at faster than real time, thus pre-fetching the next element(s) to be played in the cross-fade at the end of the currently being played element.

Abstract: A record player includes a base, a platter, a tonearm assembly and a monitoring unit. The monitoring unit is secured on the base, and includes a light emitter, an image capturing module and a processing module. The light emitter can emit light toward the platter or an acoustical record disposed on the platter. The image capturing module can receive the light reflected by the platter or the acoustical record, and capture images of the platter or the acoustical record. The processing module can receive the images from the image capturing module, and determine a current rotating speed of the platter or the acoustical record by analyzing and comparing the images captured by the image capturing module at successive time points.

Abstract: A camera detects devices, such as other cameras, smart devices, and access points, with which the camera may communicate. The camera may alternate between operating as a wireless station and a wireless access point. The camera may connect to and receive credentials from a device for another device to which it is not connected. In one embodiment, the camera is configured to operate as a wireless access point, and is configured to receive credentials from a smart device operating as a wireless station. The camera may then transfer the credentials to additional cameras, each configured to operate as wireless stations. The camera and additional cameras may connect to a smart device directly or indirectly (for instance, through an access point), and the smart device may change the camera mode of the cameras. The initial modes of the cameras may be preserved and restored by the smart device upon disconnection.

Abstract: A method of displaying augmented reality content on a physical surface is disclosed. A surface complexity measure is determined for the physical surface from a captured image of the physical surface. A content complexity measure is determined for the augmented reality content to be applied to the physical surface. The content complexity measure represents an amount of fine detail in the augmented reality content. The method determines if the amount of fine detail in the augmented reality content is to be modified, based on a function of the surface complexity measure and said content complexity measure. A display attribute of the augmented reality content is adjusted to modify the fine detail in the augmented reality content. The modified augmented reality content is displayed on the physical surface.
