Abstract: A wireless system for notifying a fisherman of a strike on a fishing line includes a non-corrosive housing defining a cavity therein and mountable to a fishing rod. The system includes a wireless signal mechanism including a transmitting section and a transportable receiving section. Such a transmitting section generates and sends a RF signal to the receiving section alerting the fisherman to a strike. The system further includes a bifurcated bracket including an upper section and a lower section. A plurality of fastening members are threadably engageable with the upper and lower sections for maintaining the housing at a substantially stable position above the rod.

Abstract: A fishing device for use by a person from a fishing location, such as the shore of a lake or river, or the side of a boat or dock is disclosed. The fishing device includes a gliding device having a body having aerodynamic surfaces for lifting the body when tossed by the person, and a tethering connector for tethering the device to the fishing location.

Abstract: A handheld apparatus for measuring fish, game, and the like is provided and includes a scale, a camera, and a length measuring device. The scale includes a support member that extends outwardly from the apparatus housing, and a display that is visible through the housing. The support member is configured to suspend an object therefrom for weighing via the scale, and the display is configured to display the weight of an object suspended from the support member. The length measurement device is configured to measure the length of an object and the display is configured to display the length of an object measured by the length measurement device. The camera includes a lens, an image sensor configured to capture images obtained via the lens, and a camera display. The camera display displays an image of an object taken by the camera with weight and/or length information for the object.

Abstract: The invention is a tool for use by fisherpersons to remove a split shot weight from a fishing line. The tool includes a finger sheath, a finger retainer and curved blade attached to the finger sheath. In one preferred embodiment the finger sheath and finger retainer are a sewing thimble. The tool may also include a “U” shaped clip for crimping a split shot closed.

Abstract: A fish loss prevention system for preventing the loss of a fish during ice fishing. The fish loss prevention system includes a base positionable in an ice hole, a support member extending upwardly from the base, a shaft slidably attached to the support member, a catch member attached to the support member and selectively engaging the shaft, and a stopper attached to the lower end of the shaft. The user rotates the shaft to block the ice hole after a fish is positioned within the ice hole to prevent the fish from passing out of the ice hole.

Abstract: A device for interacting with biota either on a pre-specified schedule or via actuation by remote signal. Preferably, the biota are fauna and more particularly fish. In selected embodiments, it comprises frangible packaging enclosing means for timing interaction, at least part of the means for programming the device and means for opening the packaging. In select embodiments of the present invention, the apparatus is inserted in fish. Specific examples of the present invention are implanted in triploid grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) to facilitate control of aquatic weeds in bodies of water. When the carp have been in the water for a pre-specified period or, alternatively, long enough to effectively control the target aquatic plants, toxins in the device are dispensed to kill them. Otherwise, the carp may destroy all vegetation and harm the aquatic environment for other aquatic life.

Abstract: A Fish Handling System For Big Game Tube Fishing is a single unit comprised of both a landing net and raised tabletop/inch incremented measuring board supported by a platform mounted atop two pontoons. Landing net access is obtained by lifting the hinged table/measuring board. The fish handling system has an adjustable multipurpose handle, when drawn taut it acts as the handle, when loosened it is used to attach the fish handling system to the float tube's D-rings using quick release clamps of preference. Thus providing a stable workstation and hands free landing net within comfortable reach of the float tube fisherman.

The sheeting material may be of various shapes and sizes. The fished shaped decals adhered to the sheeting material may include a plurality of decals of various sizes and shapes. The fish shaped decals may be holograms. The fish shaped decals may also be interchangeable.

Abstract: The system includes a capsule member made from a material which is not dissolvable in water but is dissolvable in the digestive fluids of a predator species. The capsule contains a material which, following ingestion by a predator (game/sport) species, results in death of the predator species. A connecting member is secured to the capsule, and is adapted to be secured to a prey (bait) species such that when the prey species is released in a body of water, such as a lake, in the vicinity of the predator species, the predator species is likely to consume the prey species along with the capsule and shortly thereafter dies, thereby reducing the number of predator species.

Abstract: A tool for crimping the barb defined by a conventional fishhook is disclosed. The tool includes a pair of forceps on which is carried a barb crimping element. The tool is provided for modifying a conventional fishhook to allow a fisherman to catch fish in a catch-and-release manner without causing undue harm to the fish. The tool is a pair of forceps adapted to include a fishhook barb crimping device. The barb crimping element includes a first head carried by the first arm and a second head carried by the second arm. The first and second heads are configured to define an interior face, the two interior faces being configured to cooperate to engage when the finger loops are engaged toward a locked position.

Abstract: An electric reel is furnished with an information communication unit is adapted for transmitting first information concerning the reel to an external fishing information display device. The information communication unit is adapted for receiving second information concerning fishing from a fish finder or a GPS through a fishing information display device and an information coordinating unit. A second display unit of the fishing information display device can display the first information concerning the reel obtained from the reel and the second information concerning fishing with one of the first and second information being superimposed on the other. In this fishing reel, a large amount of information can be displayed while the size of the reel is kept small. Also, information concerning fishing can be obtained quickly.

Abstract: A device for landing, handling and controlling a fish which includes a pair of clamps pivotally attached to a main housing. A handle is provided at one end of the housing. The clamps can be moved from a closed position to a fully opened position by a trigger assembly. The clamps can be retained in their fully opened position without manual assistance. The device can be provided with a built in scale. A locking assembly can also be provided for preventing the main housing from spinning or rotating with respect to the handle.

Abstract: The invention is a tool for use by fisherpersons to remove a split shot weight from a fishing line. The tool comprises a top member, which is a flexible bowed strip of spring metal, pivotally connected to a base member, which is a rigid strip of sheet metal. Split shot is attached by threading line through the split and securing the shot in a splayed groove in the working end of the base member. Manual pressure applied to the split shot by the plier end causes it to close around the line. Split shot is removed from a line by placing the attached shot in the splayed groove and exerting downward pressure on the prying end, which penetrates the split in the shot and pries it open.

Abstract: A fishing tool designed to attach and remove split shot to/from fishing line is disclosed. The tool comprises a top member, which is a flexible bowed strip of spring metal, pivotally connected to a base member, which is a rigid strip of sheet metal. Split shot is attached by threading line through the split and securing the shot in a splayed groove in the base member. Manual pressure applied to the plier end of the top member bends it down so as to compress the shot, causing it to close around the line. Split shot is removed from a line by placing the attached shot in a concave depression in the base member and exerting downward pressure on the prying end of the top member. A wedge-shaped prying tool in the prying end penetrates the split in the shot and pries it open, releasing the line.

Abstract: A gripper to hold a fish upright during hook removal has a pliers-like body. This body includes a first member having an outer handle portion joined to an upper jaw portion and a second member having an inner handle portion joined to a lower jaw portion. The lower jaw portion is pivotally carried in an opening between sidewalls of the upper jaw portion. Bottom edges of outer segments of the upper jaw portion sidewalls have tooth-like abrasions. These abrasions mate with like abrasions on a top wall of a swivel element pivotally attached to the lower jaw portion. When the handle portions of the gripper are squeezed togther so that the jaw and swivel element abrasions compressively engage a lower jaw of a fish, downward movement of the swivel element is inhibited by a locking action between complementarily formed offsets on a bottom surface of the swivel element top wall and on the lower jaw portion.

Abstract: An ice fishing hole strainer device for capturing and removing ice particles from a newly drilled ice hole. The ice fishing hole strainer device comprises an elongated handle attached to a cylinder with a hinged circular bottom having a plurality of holes. A stop ring and slotted hinge structure cooperate to pivot, open and close the apertured circular bottom in the cylinder as the strainer device is lowered into and raised from the ice hole to remove ice particles therefrom.

Abstract: A clipper for cutting and severing a portion of bait material preventing direct contact of a user with the former. The two elongated pivotally mounted members include cutting assemblies ends that cooperate to come towards each other in a substantially parallel fashion. Peripheral walls with distal sharpened edges have to cut into a bait severing a portion that is lodged between complementing cavities formed by the peripheral walls. Slots in the base plates extend towards their respective centers upon which the peripheral wall are perpendicularly mounted permit a user to manipulate a fishing hook. The hook is removed through one of the cutouts in the peripheral walls that coincide with the entrance to the slots. A user can then hold the bait portion with one hand while safely manipulating the hook with the other hand to set his/her fishing bait.

Abstract: A rope severing apparatus for releasing a rope after continued tension. The first element of the apparatus is the base, which has elastic properties that permit the base to stretch when realizing tensional forces. The base may be a spring in one embodiment, although those skilled in the art would recognize there are other available elements with similar elastic properties that alternatively may be used. The base is connected to a first connection point wherein the first connection point is formed to admit the rope. Preferably the first connection point is a hole through which the rope can be run and tied off. Finally, the present invention requires a cutting edge connected to the base and slidably oriented with the first connection point. The cutting edge is arranged so that it will slide toward the first connection point and sever the rope when the apparatus realizes a tensional force.

Abstract: A fly casting training device to attach to the end of a fly rod and to teach the proper acceleration and deceleration movement required to produce a “tight loop” fly cast. A fly cast training device is attached to the end of a fly rod and secures a throwing projectile in place. When a proper casting motion is made by the user, which involves a sudden acceleration and deceleration, the throwing projectile is thrown off the end of the rod approximately parallel to the ground. The throwing projectile can be designed to approximate the characteristics of a particular type of fly line and to carry about the same distance as a cast made with that type of fly line. If an improper motion is made, the throwing projectile either is thrown toward the ground at a steep angle or is thrown upward at a steep angle. A user practicing with the fly cast training device receives immediate feedback telling the user if either the proper or improper casting motion has been made, hence can teach the proper casting motion.

Abstract: The invention is a camera line support device, adapted for use in an ice fishing hole. The camera line support device includes a cylindrical sleeve member having an inner surface, an outer surface, an open top end and an open bottom end. A sleeve support member is secured to the sleeve member's outer surface adjacent the open top end thereof. A protruding tab member extends from the cylindrical sleeve member, the tab member having a slot therein adapted to accept a video camera cable line therein, with the cable line extending through the cylindrical sleeve member. A stop on the cable line contacts the protruding tab member to suspend the video camera at a selected depth.

Abstract: A ice fishing strainer assembly made adaptable for use in the sport of ice fishing, principally serving as means to remove ice particles from a drilled ice hole for unhindered access thereto, the ice fishing strainer comprising in combination a body of cylindrical form having a bottom end for pivotally attaching thereto a strainer plate possessing the capacity to be angularly positioned therewithin by a support rod having an end portion pivotally attached to the strainer plate and an upper end having a lever integrally connected thereto for controlling the rotational movement of the strainer plate and a top end for mounting a brace, principally serving as a handle and means for preventing lateral movement of the support rod during vertical movement thereof, specifically while controlling the angular positioning of the strainer plate to capture and release ice particles from the body of cylindrical form.

This type of a device comprises two substantially parallel pipe-like means (1, 2) and arranged in a substantially horizontal position. The pipe-like means are preferably connected to each other by connection means (3, 4) arranged at both ends of the pipes, and there are stilling basins (9, 10) immediately next to the connection means. Further, a control means (6) maintaining the flow of the fluid (5) led in to the swimming device is arranged into one of the pipe-like means. In the operating position of the device, the upper pipe-like means, i.e. testing pipe, has a lure tower (13) connected to the pipe and protruding from it, and the lure (12) can be lowered into the swimming device for testing it in the fluid flow caused in the testing pipe.

The spool is removed from the bottle for storage. A locking pin removably extends through pin openings provided on either side of the spool area to prevent fishing line from unwinding from the thread spool area and as a means of fixing the depth of the fishing line. The locking pin can be removed from the pin openings to allow the fishing line to be wrapped onto or unwrapped from the spool area.

Abstract: A fishing tool having a handle and a body with one or more notches is provided to facilitate wrapping and holding a sufficient length of fishing line around the tool to permit the line to be forcefully pulled from a point of entanglement. The handle can be a grip-aperture defined by the body. In a preferred embodiment, the tool is provided with a beveled lower edge to facilitate using the tool to slice bait. A method for releasing a snagged fishing line is also disclosed.

Abstract: A bi-directional underwater icewalker is disclosed. The icewalker comprises a flotation base, a moveable rod connected to the underside of the base, a flotation arm attached to the rod containing a flotation arm skate and culminating in a spike at one end, a plurality of flotation base skates and a line attached to the bottom of the rod at one end and whose other end passes through an eyelet which is attached to the underside of the flotation base. By pulling on the line, the icewalker moves bi-directionally underneath a mass of ice.

Abstract: A fish cutting device and method of using is disclosed for cutting fish into bait pieces. The device comprising: a bucket and a lid attached to the bucket. The lid includes a bottom plate, a hinge and a top plate. The bottom plate has at least one orifice with a corresponding cutting edge set attached to the bottom plate, so that a portion of the cutting edge set traverses across the orifice in the bottom plate. The top plate is pivotally attached to the bottom plate. The top plate has at least one convex protrusion attached to the lower surface of the top plate which is correspondingly aligned with the orifice of the bottom plate. When the lid is in a closed position then a portion of the convex protrusion is slidably inserted through a portion of the orifice of the bottom plate. Each convex protrusion also has a channel set etched in it. Each channel set of each convex protrusion has a configuration matching the corresponding cutting edge set traversing across the corresponding orifice of the bottom plate.

Abstract: A fishing line leader holder system for holding a fishing line leader. An elastic band having an attached bead between two ends of the elastic band aligns about the circumference of fishing line on a supply spool and where the fishing line leader passes through the bead for easy access and grasping. The fishing line leader holder system also compresses the wound fishing line about the supply spool to stop unraveling of the fishing line about the supply spool but allows easy dispensing of the fishing line from the supply spool when desired.

Abstract: A multi-functional compact clipper for fishing includes a rotatable base plate and an upper and lower holding plates that form a space therebetween. The rotatable base plate has a pair of upper and lower grooves at one end, an axial end at another end, a stop disposed a at middle rear side and a needle at an inside wall of a hollow formed on a front side. The rotatable base plate connects elastically with a threaded device and pivotally with the holding plates. The threading device provides a threading wire and a slit connecting with the grooves of the rotatable base plate. The upper holding plate is provided with a cutter set magnetically in a hole of a projected end of the upper holding plate. The rotatable base plate is pivotally folding into and drawn out of the space between the holding plates. The stop limits the rotation of the rotatable base plate by engagement with cavities formed on the upper and lower holding plates.

A spool is provided for holding the tying means. A sack is provided having an access opening designed for holding fish eggs. A housing having an interior is provided for selectively receiving and holding the sack. The housing includes a pair of clip portions and a securing portion. The spool is rotatably mounted between the pair of clip portions of the housing. The securing portion of the housing includes an aperture extending through the housing for receiving the sack. A securing assembly is slidably positioned in the interior of the housing for cinching the sack positioned through the aperture while user ties the sack blocking the access opening of the sack.

On the surface of the worktable, disk-shaped line pressing members for fixing a fishing line on the surface of the worktable are arranged at a prescribed interval by wing nuts or the like. The fishing line is sandwiched between the cloth member on the surface of the worktable and the line pressing members so that the fishing line is not loosened, and the fishing line between the line pressing members is subjected to heat treatment using a heated iron member, while blowing steam onto the fishing line.

Abstract: An underwater surveillance apparatus includes a watertight housing having a transparent part and a video tube received in the watertight housing. The video tube has a light receiving end positioned to view through the transparent part of the watertight housing. A video cable extends from the video tube to a video monitor disposed above a surface of the body of water. The watertight housing is configured such that the transparent part of the watertight housing is urged in a direction downstream when the watertight housing is submerged in a body of fluid moving relative to the watertight housing.

A hook chain device 36 is also provided and consists of a hook 44 attached to one distal end of the chain 46 and another hook 44 attached to the other distal end of the chain 46 stored within the weight scale compartment 26. One end hook 44 of the chain device 46 is attached to a loop 38 on the weight scale plate 52.

Abstract: An electronic fishing device and control system. The fishing device includes an electro-mechanically actuated dive plane and rudder for steering the device in azimuth and depth by remote control or by preprogrammed instructions. In an autonomous mode, a device memory is preprogrammed with control instructions, and the device executes the instructions when placed in the water. In a remote control mode, the device is controlled by a remote control box located on a boat or shore. Preprogrammed instructions or user inputs may be utilized to steer the device. The control box may be interfaced with a fish finder to automatically generate commands to steer the device to fish detected by the fish finder.

Abstract: An electronic fishing information recording and storage device is disclosed. The device attaches to a traditional fishing rod and reel assembly and automatically records the number of casts executed with the subject rod and reel. For each fish caught, the device is capable of recording relevant information about the type of fish and weather conditions at the time of catch. Means are provided for transfer of fishing information to a traditional personal computer. The device provides a method for tournament fishing wherein the allotted time for each contestant to fish can be replaced by the number of casts allotted.

One end of the tubular member is configured to be inserted into a supply of bait such that a portion of the bait is placed inside the bait chamber. The fishhook is placed inside the bait in the bait chamber and the bait is then compressed around the fishhook by pushing the open end of the tubular member against a hard surface. The plunger member is utilized to eject the bait and fishhook from the bait chamber. The result is a fishhook that is substantially encased by the bait.
