Abstract: A device for rotating at least one mandrel coupled to a secondary reduction gear that can in turn be coupled to a primary reduction gear and supplies a torque to the mandrel. The primary reduction gear is driven by at least one driving motor, the primary and secondary reduction gears are mechanically similar and can be coupled via at least one torque transmission means rotated by the primary reduction gear along a rotation axis, the torque transmission means includes at least one coupling tube with two section ends. Furthermore, in the assembled configuration, the primary and secondary reduction gears define a unitary assembly integrally encapsulating the torque transmission means that can be removed from the unitary assembly in the permanent assembled configuration through an opening of the unitary assembly formed in at least one of the walls of the primary and secondary reduction gears opposite the section ends of the torque transmission means.

Abstract: A composite gear part (4) for a gear arrangement is disclosed. The composite gear part (4) comprises a shaft part (3) adapted to be rotationally mounted in a gear arrangement, an inner part (5) made from a first material, and an outer part (6) made from a second material, said outer part (6) being fixed circumferentially to the inner part (5), and said outer part (6) having a plurality of gear teeth formed therein. The outer part (6) must be made from a material which is sufficiently durable and hard to fulfil requirements to gear teeth. The material may be a surface hardened high-alloyed steel or a high-alloyed cast iron. The material of the inner part (5) need not fulfil such requirements and may, e.g., be cast iron. Accordingly, the required amount of the more expensive and possibly scarce material is reduced. The inner part (5) is formed integrally with the shaft part (3).

Abstract: Balance shaft for a piston engine comprises a bearing journal, on which the balance shaft is supported, a gear section, on which a gear is connected in a rotation-locked manner thereto via a press fit or another shaft-hub-connection, and an unbalanced section having an integrally connected unbalanced mass or an unbalanced mass fastened on this unbalanced section using machine elements or via another shaft-hub connection. The balance shaft can alternately comprise steel or cast iron material in the case of a friction mounting and its bearing journals can alternately be implemented as hardened or also unhardened. If the balance shaft is mounted in roller bearings and if the roller bodies have direct contact with the bearing surface, it is implemented in a suitable steel and the bearing journals are hardened. Abstract: A system and method for altering the axial thrust load path within an automobile transmission eliminates the component end play in the transmission's roller clutch inner race and induces component end play in the transmission's rear sun gear. The resulting configuration moves portions of the axial thrust load path to across the roller clutch inner race and away from at least the transmission's sun gear and the reaction shell splines of the reaction shell. The system may include a kit in which an axially shortened roller clutch inner race and an appropriately sized bearing are provided. Additional kit components may include an axially shortened reaction shell. Alternatively, the roller clutch inner race and/or reaction shell may be shortened manually. A method of altering a preexisting transmission to have a new axial thrust load path is also provided.

Abstract: In a flat wave gear device in which a flexible externally toothed gear and the rigid internally toothed gear have the same number of teeth, an arcuate tooth profile is imparted to a flexible externally toothed gear, a contact point C between tooth profiles of a flexible externally toothed gear and a D-side rigid internally toothed gear is determined from an arc center A of the arcuate tooth profile of the flexible externally toothed gear and from a momentary center S of relative movement between the gears, and a main part of a tooth profile to be formed in the D-side rigid internally toothed gear is calculated based on the contact point. The tooth profile of the D-side rigid internally toothed gear can be accurately designed; therefore, meshing between the gears can occur with zero backlash, ratcheting torque can be increased, and continuous meshing can occur across a wide range of the movement locus of the tooth profiles of both gears.

  • Patent number: 8011273
Abstract: A wave generator (4) of a wave gear device (1) is formed from a material in which only the minor axis-side portions (51, 52), which include the two end portions (51a, 52a) of an elliptical minor axis Lmin, has a larger coefficient of linear expansion than the other portions. When the temperature of a rigid cam plate (5) increases during high-speed rotational input, the minor axis-side portions (51, 52) thermally expand considerably more than the other portions do, and balls (10) other than several balls (10b) on a minor axis Lmin of a wave bearing (7) enter a tight state and form a locked state in which the wave bearing (7) rotates integrally with the rigid cam plate (5). Since the generation of agitation resistance of the lubricating agent due to the high-speed rolling movement of the balls (10) during high-speed rotational input can be avoided or reduced, a reduction of the torque transmission efficiency caused by the agitation resistance can be prevented or inhibited.
