Abstract: An apparatus and method for the attachment of supplemental hair to existing natural hair. The apparatus comprising a first comb member, a handle attached at a back end thereof, and a second comb member hingeably or pivotally attached thereto. A row of first teeth extends from the first comb member corresponding to a row of second teeth extending from the second comb member. The second comb member is positioned to be moveable interchangeably between a closed position and an open position. A heating member connects to and provides heat to one or both of the first comb member and second comb member. The apparatus is utilized in a process to attach supplemental hair to existing natural hair of a person's head. The method uses rows of supplemental hair pre-attached to a band member. An adhesive member is pre-hardened on each row of supplemental hair at a predetermined distance near the band member.

Abstract: A hair coloring tool combining a styling comb and a hair coloring brush into a single easy to use device is disclosed. The hair coloring brush is secured to the styling comb by an assembly which is capable of holding the hair coloring brush at various angular positions relative to the comb to promote easy application of hair coloring agents to selected strands of hair.

Abstract: The present grooming device is comprised of a flexible sheet generally in the size and shape of a credit card for being carried in a pocket or wallet. The sheet is formed into a comb, a mirror, a nail file, and a nail pick. The comb includes staggered teeth of two different lengths for combing through dry or wet hair equally well. The mirror is a metal foil applied to one side of the sheet. The nail file is an abrasive material applied along a strip on one side of the sheet. The nail pick is claw shaped, and is positioned at a corner of the sheet for being easily maneuvered around nails. A magnetic strip is arranged on an opposite side of the sheet for operating an electronic card reader. Graphics, such as advertising or other information, are displayed on the back of the sheet near the magnetic strip.

Abstract: A hair styling comb includes a molded plastic or metal core member including a body part having first and second sets of integrally formed spaced apart comb teeth extending in directions substantially normal to each other. The first set of teeth extends from an elongated spine part of the body and a layer of a resilient friction material is molded over the body part to cover opposed planar surfaces of the body part and to extend within spaces between adjacent teeth of both sets. The overmolded layer provides surfaces between each tooth which are adherent to human hair to facilitate teasing, back combing or ratting hair during a styling procedure. The comb is conveniently mass produceable by molding the core member and then overmolding the resilient high friction coating or material layer.

Abstract: A self-contained lice comb assembly including a handle member defining a housing having an interior cavity for holding and storing tools which aid in the removal of nits and lice and/or the cleaning of the lice comb head is provided. The handle housing may preferably support an extracting tool for removing lice and nits from the hair, such as tweezers, and a cleaning tool for removing lice and nits from between the teeth of the lice comb head, such as a brush. The brush and tweezers are removable from within the handle member during use, and are designed to fit within the handle member for storage. The lice comb assembly may also preferably include interchangeable comb heads having different length teeth for treating various lengths and textures of hair. A magnifier for magnifying hair as it passes through the comb teeth, which allows any nits or lice remaining on the hair to be easily viewed by a user may also be provided.

Abstract: A tool for unbraiding a hairstyle allows the user to separate the braid strand. In one example embodiment, the tool has a handle sufficiently large for the user to grasp and pull the tool through the braided hair strand. As the tool is pulled through the hair strand, the probe penetrates the braid and separates it. The curvature of the probe defined at a bend, retains the hair and prevents the braid from slipping out of the tool so that the braided strands can be separated.

Abstract: A device for holding the hair comprising a comb-like element having a base and a plurality of teeth projecting from the base. The base is flexible to allow it to flex between a first orientation in which the ends of the teeth are spaced apart from each other to a second orientation in which the ends of the teeth are brought towards each other to grip the hair. A substantially rigid, curved member is preferably connected to the base, the rotation of the curved member between alternative positions drives the base between the first and second orientation and selectively maintains the base in a chosen one of the orientations.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system for adding height to the hair at the crown of a wearer's head, which system is easy to use. The system may comprise two hair inserts which can be identical to each other. Each insert is formed by attaching a natural-looking hair piece to the main bar of a comb. The system is inserted by the wearer gathering the natural hair at the crown of her head, inserting one insert from each side of the gathered hair, such that the teeth of the combs intermesh, frictionally engaging the system in the wearer's hair. Finally, the wearer's natural hair can be arranged over the inserted hair pieces so that the system is completely hidden from view. The system is typically hidden from view beneath the wearer's natural hair. However, as the system incorporates natural or synthetic hair covering the main bars of the combs, if the system should become visible, it will not be greatly noticeable or cause embarrassment to the wearer.

Abstract: A braid removal tool has a comb, a strap, and a plurality of prongs. The strap is used to fasten the comb to a user's thumb. To remove a section of braids, a user first engages prongs with braids by grasping a section of unbraided hair between an index finger and the comb. Once the prongs are engaged with braids, use a downward motion and comb braids toward a hair end. Repeat this procedure until braids are completely removed. The tool may be worn on the thumb of a second hand to assist the second hand in grasping the braids to prevent excessive pulling on a scalp during combing.

Abstract: A device for styling hair includes a pair of plates pivotally coupled together at a middle shaft. A pair of combs are pivotally coupled to the lower portions of the plates for allowing the combs to be rotated downward of the plates and to be rotated inward between the plates. The combs each includes a number of outward extended comb teeth for styling the hair. The plates each includes a pair of sleeves disposed in the lower portion. The combs each includes two pins rotatably engaged in the sleeves for pivotally coupling the combs to the plates.

Abstract: A hair brush applicator for applying flowable hair care products such as hair conditioner and styling gel to the hair of a user. The hair brush applicator includes a hair brush with a handle portion and a head portion. The handle portion of the hair brush has a chamber therein. The head portion of the hair brush has a plurality of bristles outwardly extending from the front face of the hair brush. The bristles of the head portion comprise a plurality of narrow bristles and a plurality of wide bristles. Each of the wide bristles is tubular and has an open root coupled to the head portion and terminates at a closed tip. The hair brush has a passage therein fluidly connecting the chamber adjacent the neck portion to the open roots of the wide bristles. Each of the wide bristles has a plurality of lateral apertures positioned between the root and tip of the respective wide bristle. The hair brush has a rotatably mounted disk blocking the passage of the hair brush. The disk has a plurality of bores therethrough.

Abstract: A comb suitable for use as a teasing comb in hair styling is motor-operated so that consistent, high quality results are obtained without tiring the service provider. The motor is light-in-weight and is electrically-powered so that it can be housed in the comb handle. An elongate rocker arm is mounted for pivotal movement so that a leading end of the rocker arm is oscillated when the motor oscillates the trailing end of the rocker arm. The teeth-carrying part of the comb is mounted to the leading end of the rocker arm. At the trailing end of the rocker arm, rotary motion of the motor's output shaft is translated into an oscillating, arcuate motion and at the leading end of the rocker arm, the oscillating, arcuate motion is translated into a straight back-and-forth motion having no arcuate component to simulate a manual teasing motion. In one embodiment, the comb is made of a deionizing material that inhibits the buildup of static electrical charges on the comb as the comb strokes the hair.

Abstract: A hair styling comb which has a conventional comb portion and from which extends a double tang assembly, the tangs are of unequal length, are normally separated and are biased to resist movement toward one another but are slidably compressed together by a sliding compression member permanently attached to the comb. The compressible tangs are used to grip portions of hair for curling. After a curl is formed, the compression member is released and the tangs are then withdrawn from the cornroll. The device is easily constructed using plastic forming techniques and provides a useful tool for forming cornrolls or other tightly rolled curls. The double tangs are enclosed by a protective cylindrical cover when the user simply wants to use the conventional comb portion.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a cleaning comb with needles that are rugged on their peripheral surface and a method of manufacturing a high mechanical strength cleaning comb. The comb includes a plurality of needles arranged parallel to each other with a spacing of under 100 .mu.m, which are rugged on their peripheral surface for the purpose of more effectively removing foreign elements and smaller particles attached. The needles have a total length and a useful length, i.e. a relatively large portion that protrudes from the handle, and they have a diameter of over 1 mm. In order to give the comb a high mechanical strength, the method of assembling the comb includes attaching the needles onto the handle preferably by laser welding or soft soldering. The ruggedness on the peripheral surface is provided by cutting an helical groove or several parallel circumferential grooves.

Abstract: A discharge bottle for discharging different cream or gel matters simultaneously from a plurality of flexible vessels containing the different cream or gel matters respectively, which comprises: a holding vessel in which the plurality of flexible vessels are arranged side by side; at least one discharge hole for discharging the cream or gel matters contained in the plurality of flexible vessels; fitting holes communicated with said discharge hole and fitted to the mouth portions of the flexible vessels arranged side by side in the holding vessel; and pressing members for pressing the plurality of flexible vessels arranged side by side in the holding vessel to thereby simultaneously discharge the different cream or gel matters contained in the flexible vessels respectively. The pressing members may be provided in the form of roller-like pressing members, disk-like pressing members, plate-like pressing members, or the like.

Abstract: A braid fuse assembly including a pliers mechanism with a bell-shaped fuse unit coupled thereto. The fuse unit has two halves coupled to the pliers mechanism wherein upon the pliers mechanism having an open orientation, the halves of the fuse mechanism are situated distant with respect to each other and upon the pliers mechanism having a closed orientation, the halves abut each other. In use, the fuse mechanism is adapted to be heated via an electric heater embedded in the bell-shaped fuse unit.

Abstract: A hairdressing comb (10) comprises a series of spaced pairs of hair-lifting teeth (16.1, 16.2), the teeth of each pair defining between them a gap 18 into which hair can enter. Each hair-lifting tooth has a hair-lifting formation (20.1, 20.2), the hair-lifting formations of each pair of teeth both extending into the corresponding gap (18). The hair-lifting formations (20.1, 20.2) of each pair of teeth (16.1, 16.2) are staggered with respect to one another in the longitudinal direction of the teeth (16.1, 16.2), and the one hair-lifting formation (20.2) extends into the gap (18) to a point laterally beyond that to which the other hair lifting formation (20.2) extends into the gap (18).

Abstract: A fine-tooth comb for treating pediculosis and in particular, for removing lice and lice eggs includes a removable piece and an elongated piece. The removable piece has a plurality of metallic teeth. The removable piece can be detachably mounted in a head of the elongated piece. A handle adjacent to the head can be gripped by a patient such that he or she can easily comb their hair in order to remove lice and lice eggs.

Abstract: A hand-held hair grooming device comprising a housing adapted to be held in the hand of the user, an array including a plurality of electrically conductive tines extending outwardly from the housing, apparatus for mounting the plurality of tines in the housing, apparatus for applying an electric potential between adjacent times whereby lice or other pests suitably disposed between adjacent tines are electrocuted and apparatus for selectable displacement of some of the plurality of tines relative to others of said plurality of tines to assist in cleaning thereof.

Abstract: A comb is formed from two half-comb sections laid one on top of the other. Each half of the comb includes every other tooth of the full comb, such that when the two halves are mated, the two sets of teeth will be interleaved to form a comb having narrow inter-tooth gaps. This allows each of the half-comb blanks to be directly stamped from a sheet material. Where it is desired to electrically insulate adjacent teeth from one another, a non-conductive separator is interposed between the two half-comb sections during assembly.

Abstract: The process for bleaching hair using light includes first, applying a sufficient quantity of a composition containing at least one optical photosensitizer and a compound capable of providing a hydrogen radical to strands of the hair to be bleached and allowing the composition to act for up to 60 minutes on those strands; then, irradiating them with light of a wavelength or wavelengths selected from visible and ultraviolet wavelength ranges capable of activating the at least one optical photosensitizer and having an intensity sufficient for bleaching them, and subsequently rinsing and drying the bleached hair. This process does not require excess hydrogen peroxide and is thus particularly gentle to the hair.

Abstract: A hair brush adapted to prevent charging of the bristles and hair, according to the invention, has a multiplicity of small holes (7) formed in a brush base (2) at each of widthwise opposite end portions thereof and arranged at a spacing in a row longitudinally of the base, and an antistatic member (9) is so provided as to project from the multiplicity of small holes (7) slightly beyond the base surface (2a), whereby the antistatic member (9) is made stiff and prevented from bending down, rendering the brush easy to draw through hair for smooth brushing.

Abstract: A weaving tool for use in the hairstyling arts allowing rapid and accurate gathering of uniformly spaced strands of hair for weaving, coloring, perming or cutting. The tool comprises a comb with teeth having a single hook located in the forward inside edge of each tooth. When the teeth are drawn through the hair the hooks engage multiple uniformly spaced strands of hair in a single movement. This saves time by eliminating the extra operation required by the present state of the art of multiply passing a pointed instrument in a zig-zag fashion through sections of hair grasped between the fingers. In addition, the present state of the art does not produce uniformly spaced strands of hair.

Abstract: A comb for grooming full bodied hair having a handle portion, and an elongated tooth support portion extending longitudinally from the handle portion. A first set of relatively long and widely spaced teeth extend transversely from the tooth support portion such that upon passage through hair such teeth channel the hair without substantial resistance and without adversely affecting the body of the hair. A second set of substantially shorter length of teeth are provided, which each are disposed between a pair of the teeth of the first set such that when the teeth of the second set are passed through the hair a relatively small drag is created on the hair to permit precisely controlled contouring and styling thereof.

Abstract: A comb comprised of an elongated back having integral substantially parallel teeth extending therefrom. A bubble-type level is rotatably mounted within a first recess provided in the comb back. The level is mounted to rotate about its longitudinal axis and is provided with a plurality of projections spaced at predetermined angular intervals arranged along one end of the level for cooperation with a second recess to form a "click-lock" arrangement with the second recess provided in a cooperating sidewall of the first recess to automatically lock the level into the desired orientation which may, for example, be right-lock, center-lock or left-lock orientations. The level facilitates leveling of the comb during use.

Abstract: A lice comb comprises a handle and a resiliently flexible elongated member having the end portions thereof connected to the handle and teeth mounted outwardly from the member and extending in the same plane as the handle. A manually movable cam member is mounted on the handle and contacts the member opposite the side holding the teeth and intermediate of the end portions to flex the member outwardly relative to the handle between a minimum flexure position wherein the teeth have a minimum spacing therebetween and a maximum flexure position wherein the teeth have a maximum spacing therebetween. As a result the comb can be used for different textures of hair and the teeth can be easily cleaned.

Abstract: An anti-electrostatic brush comprising handle means (1,3:1', 3') leading to receiving means for bristle support means (2,2') with said support means being located in the receiving means and having bristles (21, 21') extending therefrom, characterized in that the bristle support means (2,2') is electrically conductive and has an extension portion (22') or extension portions (22) extending towards the handle means (1,3:1', 3') and to a region (23, 23') where said portion(s) will be contacted by the hand of a user during normal brushing operations.

Abstract: A hair appliance has a hair winding portion extending axially from the end of a handle covered by a flexible sleeve member adapted to be depressed in order to activate a movable part of the hair appliance. The hair appliance is of relatively uniform cross-section along its length and in the case of a curling iron provided with a hair retaining clip biased adjacent the barrel of the curling iron, the clip is provided with a longitudinal extension aligned with the body of the clip, with the extension overlying a recess in the handle and under the flexible sleeve member. The clip is opened by squeezing or depressing the flexible sleeve member to move the extension into the recess. In the case of a curling brush having a rotatable barrel, a similar construction results in the barrel locking mechanism being situated under the flexible sleeve member so that depression of the latter operates the locking mechanism.
