  • Patent number: 6095154
Abstract: A tool for unbraiding a hairstyle allows the user to separate the braid strand. In one example embodiment, the tool has a handle sufficiently large for the user to grasp and pull the tool through the braided hair strand. As the tool is pulled through the hair strand, the probe penetrates the braid and separates it. The curvature of the probe defined at a bend, retains the hair and prevents the braid from slipping out of the tool so that the braided strands can be separated.

  • Patent number: 5857379
Abstract: A hair-care appliance measures the moistness of the hair by measuring the resistance (R.sub.x) of the hair between measurement electrodes (14A/14B). The hair resistance (R.sub.x) is included in a T network comprising a first resistor (20) driven by a voltage source (28) and a second resistor (24). The signal current (I.sub.s) through the second resistor is measured and converted into a measurement signal (MS) by a converter (30). As a result of the use of the T network a comparatively large resistance variation of the hair resistance (R.sub.x) is required for a given amplitude variation in the signal current (I.sub.s). This allows measurements over a wider resistance range while the resolution is maintained.

  • Patent number: 5769101
Abstract: A hair bundling core structure comprises an elastic cylinder for letting a hair bundle to pass therethrough, which cylinder is split by a rift, and a hair fastening pin connected to a lower end portion of the elastic cylinder by an attachment member at a side opposite to the rift. The hair fastening pin has a plurality of shafts for thrusting into the hair bundle and is allowed to move between a first position in which the shafts tend parallel to an axis of the elastic cylinder and a second position in which the shafts tend perpendicular to the axis. The elastic cylinder is formed of a foamed synthetic resin having a thickness and strength which are sufficient for facilitating an piercing of a hair fixing U-shaped pin and an extraction of the same from the elastic cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5706839
Abstract: An applicator of liquid products, such as dyes, to hair in exact quantities and locations. The applicator is composed of a traditional alligator-style hair clip with two mutually opposed members connected by a spring mechanism. Mounted on one end of the upper member of the alligator-style clip is a membrane designed to hold the liquids for hair treatment. When filled with the liquids, the membrane is pressured, thereby forcing the liquid out of the membrane through holes located in the membrane, which then transports the liquid to the surrounding hair.

  • Patent number: 5687751
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention there is disclosed a method for beading hair using a tool comprising a shaft having a needle tip at one end, a center section having bifurcated equal parts which form a convex section of the shaft having an aperture therethrough, and a second end having a tab serving as a bead stop and a hanger for the tool. In the method of the invention, beads are threaded over the needle tip and along the shaft to the tab. Hair is passed through the aperture in the shaft, and then one or more beads are slid upwardly along the shaft over the hair. A free end of the hair is then pulled backwardly through the aperture, leaving the bead(s) mounted on the hair.

  • Patent number: 5657776
Abstract: A long, pointed hair stitching shaft is presented for decorating hair with a scarf or similar decorative item. The shaft is approximately 51/2 inches long, 1/8 inch thick and is pointed at both ends. One end of a scarf is inserted through a diamond-shaped aperture eyelet near one end of the shaft and is snugly secured to the long shaft due to the pointed apex of the diamond aperture eyelet. The scarf may then be pulled through the hair in many decorative and ornamental patterns. Since the shaft is pointed at both ends, the direction of travel of the shaft may be charged in order to create many different ornamental and decorative patterns of the scarf as it is threaded through the hair. This long shaft may be used to thread scarves, ribbons, or other cloth material through long or short hair, through one or two ponytails, or through a wide variety of hair styles depending upon the preference of the user.
