Abstract: A communications cable having a plurality of twisted wire pairs each having a substantially uniform twist rate along the cable. An elongated shielding separator is positioned between the twisted wire pairs and physically separates them from one another. The shielding separator has a plurality of electrically non-conductive separator sections positioned between the twisted wire pairs and a plurality of electrically conductive separator sections arranged in an alternating pattern with the non-conductive separator sections along the shielding separator. Each of the conductive separator sections has one of a predetermined number of section lengths and is arranged along the shielding separator such that the conductive separator sections are substantially aperiodic with the twist rates of the twisted wire pairs. Optionally, the cable includes a continuous or discontinuous outer cable shielding system enclosing the discontinuous shielding separator and the plurality of twisted wire pairs.

Abstract: A high ampacity busbar includes a pair of oppositely facing bowl-shaped conductors, each of whose cross sections resembles half of a hexagon or an open isosceles trapezoid, separated by an air gap in both horizontal and vertical configurations. The air gap increases cooling efficiency by natural convection by exposing more surface area of the conductors directly to the air flow within the electrical distribution equipment cabinet. As a result, the overall temperature of the bus system is reduced. The shaped conductors have smoother transitions presented to the electrical current between the bends of the conductors. These smooth transitions improve current distribution throughout the conductor, reducing skin effects. As a result of improved thermal dissipation and reduced skin effects, the amount of copper needed to maintain the same ampacity is significantly reduced. Magnetic shields can be placed between adjacent busbars, reducing proximity effects.

Abstract: A multi-layered cable consisting of three or more conductive layers separated by layers of dielectric and/or adhesive material. The bottom layer and the top layer may act as return path for the transmitted signals and as a shield to prevent interference between these and external electrical signals. Located between the bottom layer and the top layer, the middle layer may transmit desired signals through the flexible cable. The material selection and specifics of each of the layers should be selected so as to achieve a balance in which the desired electrical impedance and mechanical flexibility requirements are met. The cable may also include one or more vias connecting the bottom layer to the top layer, providing shielding all the way around the flex cable. An additional conductive sock may be used to improve shielding effectiveness of the top and bottom layer and to connect to I/O connector shells and the system Faraday cage.
