  • Patent number: 8443985
Abstract: A deposition of bubbles or foams to an inner wall of a liquid supplying member is prevented, thereby improving ejecting performance of the bubbles or foams. In the liquid supplying member which forms a flow path for supplying a liquid to a liquid discharging apparatus, the inner wall surface has a concave/convex shape in which a mountain portion and a valley portion are repeated at a predetermined spatial frequency. Assuming that an opening diameter of a filter provided for the liquid discharging apparatus is equal to R (?m), one period f (?m)of the spatial frequency lies within a range from R or more to ?{square root over (2)}·R or less and a maximum height Ry (?m) of the mountain portion is equal to ?{square root over (2)}·R/2 or more.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for sample separation, particularly for blood separation, in which the sample liquid is introduced into a feed device. The sample flows vertically through a separating device such as a filter or a membrane, so that sample particles are retained and separated off. The sample liquid thus separated, particularly blood plasma, is received by an inlet chamber underneath the separating device and conveyed by means of a channel in the lateral direction out of the inlet chamber. Particularly advantageously, the channel extends into the inlet chamber, the channel being formed by a recess in the base of the inlet chamber.

  • Patent number: 8354030
Abstract: A system for removing cyanotoxins and excess ions from contaminated water. Contaminated water passes from a storage tank (200), through a sand filter (210), through a reaction chamber (230), and finally through a carbon filter (270). The sand filter removes particulates and bacteria. The reaction chamber first destroys cyanotoxins, algae, and bacteria through the use of high voltage shocks applied between two groups of electrodes (285, 285? then the voltage on the electrodes is lowered and electrolysis is used to sequester free ions in the water in the region near the electrodes. Partially treated water is removed from the upper portion of the reaction chamber and passed through a carbon filter (270) to remove radiation, and improve taste and smell. The water is then potable. The water remaining in the reaction chamber is discarded into a reservoir (265).

Abstract: A filter device for filtering oil leakage amounts from hydraulic systems, wherein hydraulic oil can be sucked from a tank (4) via a suction line (10) and leakage oil can be fed via a leakage oil line (12) to the non-filtered side of a leakage oil filter (16). Filtered leakage oil can be fed back from the filtered side (20) of the filter to the tank (4). The invention is characterized in that a valve assembly (26) is provided, by way of which a fluid connection (22, 30) can be released between the filtered side (20) of the leakage oil filter (16) and the suction line (10) in order to reduce the leakage oil pressure in the leakage oil line (12).

Abstract: A device for separating fluids includes a microfluidic channel with one or more wall filters or membranes through which portions of the flow in the microfluidic channel can be removed. The wall filters can have precisely defined pores therein which restrict the removal of certain particles while allowing other particles and/or fluids to freely flow therethrough. Because of the high and uniform pore density and low flow resistance of these filters, the pressure drop along the microfluidic channel may result in a negative trans-filter pressure, thereby causing reverse flow of extracted fluid back through the filter and into the microfluidic channel. Precise design of the microfluidic channel and control of flow characteristics can minimize and/or eliminate this reverse flow while allowing for sufficient sweeping of the filter surface to inhibit clogging with particles.

The suction screen member also serves to screen fluid entering the scroll compressor to prevent particulates from entering the scroll compressor. The suction screen member may be formed from only two components, including a sheet metal body that has a folded over section to provide a mounting segment that mounts into the inlet fitting for the outer housing and a tubular extension. Crimping of the folded over segment can secure the screen thereto. Other embodiments may have employ welding for screen attachment.

Abstract: The wastewater treatment system includes a hollow, elongate, horizontally disposed, cylindrical body made from plastic is adapted for water storage and treatment. The cylindrical body includes reinforcement ribs formed by a helically wound steel band embedded in the plastic and extending between opposite open ends of the elongate cylindrical body. A voltage source selectively energizes the steel band. A pair of bulkhead members respectively extends across and covers opposite ends of the cylindrical body. A fluid-tight wall is mounted in the cylindrical body, the first bulkhead member, the fluid-tight wall and the cylindrical body forming a fluid-tight tank defining a liquid storage chamber. The second bulkhead member and the fluid-tight wall define a dry liquid treatment equipment chamber. An inlet pipe extends into the tank for admitting the pretreatment liquid into the tank. An outlet pipe extends from the tank and discharges the treated liquid from the tank.
